Gone Fishing.....

This is one of the crappies Ted caught on his fishing trip to Reelfoot, Tennessee.   He and the men folk of the family fished for a week. They clean , vacuum pack, and freeze the fish. Split it all up and bring it home.
Our friend Rusty showing a couple more fish.
Son-in-law Matt (Emma's dad) , Ted, and his son Heath.
I try to tell them I am the fisherman of the family. Here's a 4 pound, 20 inch small mouth bass I caught at Trout Lake Michigan, then froze it  .....so I could show it to all my brother's , way back when. LOL
Catching a sucker in Canadian waters.  It was a good sized fish anyway.
This is the biggest fish I ever caught.  A 35 pound Amberjack, in the Gulf of Mexico.  I have been fishing since then, but not for many years now.
Here's my grandson Skylar when he was small, holding up his catch of the day. Bless his heart.

This is a picture of Jeff, Skylar's dad,  holding up his catch ...when he was about the same age as Skylar in the previous photo.

    1. Jo, All the fellows love that lake. It's clean and we trust eating the fish from there. My girls do like to fish also. I always thought I would retire near the water so I could fish all the time...never quite happened that way. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  2. I enjoyed all the photos, Susie. No one in my family fished, so it's not something I've ever done. I wish you a very blessed Mother's Day weekend.

    1. Karen, That Amberjack was caught on a huge tackle set up on the boat we took out to the gulf. There was a captain running it. Such fun. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  4. Me and my friend used to love to catch crappies out of the river. We’d scale and cut them right there on the dock then my uncle would throw them on the fire. Good eattin.

    1. Lisa, That just sounds like a fun time . Especially your uncle cooking them. I think all young people need an experience like that. We have marinated fish in low fat Italian dressings then grilled...So good. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  6. I haven't fished since the '80s. My friend and I owned a small 12' aluminum rowboat with a motor and we would go rainbow trout fishing. It was fun and relaxing.

    1. Boston Boy, It has been since the late 80's that I have been fishing too. I used to just love...it was relaxing...but I always tried to out fish my brothers. LOL. I never minded baiting my own hooks...but when we fished in the gulf, the man on the boat baited all the hooks. They would kind of talk you thru catching the Amberjacks...they did not want any backlashes. LOL Hope you are enjoying this good weather. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

It always makes me laugh the way crappie is spelled. It seems it should be croppie.
