This weekend was the Horton's French Flea Market. I did not get to go yesterday. My son in law's father passed away and the funeral was yesterday. This is the third funeral we have been to in two months. Doug was in so much pain in the end...he is no longer suffering. He will absolutely be missed.
Today My daughter , Kathy, came and picked me up to go to town.
It was almost way too hot to even be outside and we were early. Did not get to see everything, but certainly tried my best.
This was a cute tent , but I did not go in.
This was inside the store...so funny and cute. A little planter truck made of tin.
Just look at this ivy plant in the motor compartment. LOL The flags of France flying too.
Jars and vases of fresh cut flowers. Not easy to carry these around....so it's like something you get on the way out.
Lots of flags that looked aged. Tea towels and napkins .
This area looked like laundry time.
Small pots of lavender. Only $ 1. 99...… I meant to buy a couple...but did not make it back.
I liked this old whiskey barrel . The sunflowers in it was so pretty with the potato vine and other small flowers. I thought it looked pretty for fall. Believe me, it was hot...way too hot for some areas.
We left Horton's and I bought nothing..Nothing!!
Kathy and I got a cold drink at DQ and then came home. This heat is ruining my fun!!! LOL
Stay cool , all of you. XO
so sorry to hear you have had so many people passing in such a short time,, its so difficult isn't it but a blessing if ones in pain and the end is near.ReplyDelete
I LOVE HORTON'S you have got me sold, if I ever make down to your area I am going to see this,, for sure!!
Laurie, Mr. Horton told me today he had many come tell him, this was their first time there and they loved it. He was dead heading flowers in the green house. He works all the time. I did see his wife, but she was too busy to talk. ..I never bother those that look busy. :):) Blessings to you, xoxo, SusieDelete
It is sad that you have lost several loved ones recently. I'm glad you and your daughter got out to enjoy the visit to Horton's. Yes the heat is keeping me inside for the most part also.ReplyDelete
Karen, I am ready for a cool down...but it does not look as if that will be happening any time soon. Our yard is fried.:( Hoping for rain soon. Horton's was fun, just wish it had not been so dreadfully hot. Blessings, xoxo, SusieDelete
I am sorry to hear about your losses lately, Susie. Seems like the older we get, the more funerals we go to.ReplyDelete
Looks like a fun day out, but I'm with you, the heat can ruin things fast. Hopefully they have another one in the fall!
Hi Linda, Oh yes, Horton's will have a fall market day...I am looking forward to that one. Today was a scorcher. I hope no more funeral for us this year. Blessings, xoxo, SusieDelete
My condolences for the recent passings. It looks like you had a nice time! I wish I could go to more outdoor activities and events in the Summer, but it's just to hot and humid!ReplyDelete
Thank you Pilar. My SIL will miss his father greatly. He's been helping his mom with their appointments and car repairs. Pilar, it was so hot my daughter didn't want to go back thru Horton's after we put her purchase in the car. I think we will have a cool down this coming week. But the 4-H fair is going to be over by then. WE had many things happening at once. Blessings, stay cool, xoxo, SusieDelete
So sorry to hear about your son in law's father and it seems to come in bunches sometimes. Love your pics of your town. So many pretty things. The heat is terrible here as well. You stay cool and hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend. hugs and Love. xoReplyDelete
Thank you Susie. I am hoping we get some rain here and soon. Our lawn is fried. The worse it's been since we lived here. Stay cool and in the shade. Blessings, xoxo, love, SusieDelete
I love the idea of the lavender. Very fun and gives me an idea for my market.
I too feel like this is the hottest summer I can remember! 100 degrees here today! And the humidity never seems to go away.
Carla, I hope we all get a cool down soon. Yes, selling little potted lavender would be very nice. I think pots of herbs would be fun too. Some people like them but just don't grow them. Blessings, xoxo, SusieDelete
I would go out of my mind there -- so many wonderful and tempting things! Looks like loads of fun and a great day for it.ReplyDelete
Jeanie, The only bad part was the heat. I usually can tolerate hot...but outside on pavement makes it even hotter. We just didn't last very long . I do love seeing all the new things they bring into the store. Blessings, xoxo, SusieDelete
I'm sorry to read about your son-in-law's father. It's very sad, but good his suffering is over. We've been to two funerals recently and I just found out about another death, so sad. Also one of my old classmates died. I never have any luck growing lavender. What a fun place to look around today, but it does seem too hot to do much of anything. It will be over 100 every day for the next week! I love that whiskey barrel with the sunflowers.ReplyDelete
Sorry for your loses Nonnie. It is sad, even though we know there's no more suffering. I love the sunflowers too. I would have loved to cooled down then went back thru, but my daughter had more plans with friends. We all need a break in this heat. Our cool down is coming this week. I mean in the 80's not the 90's. Blessings, xoxo, SusieDelete
Sorry about another loss Susie. So sad that your SIL father passed. I missed Horton's this time. I always love that market. SO many cute vendors and then how cute Horton's always is too. I would have loved to have met up with you. Maybe next time. So many things going on all at one time it seems this summer for me.ReplyDelete
Kris, We too have had a busy summer , yet not enough yard time. What yard ?? the lawn is brown and crispy. Hope you and Terry enjoyed your trip antiquing (junkin) Blessings my friend, xoxo, SusieDelete
Sometimes that happens. I hope it was worth your time and energy. At times it is for me and then at times I wish I had just skipped it!ReplyDelete
Funerals are sad - usually. I think the ones who do a celebration memorial type thing are a bit cheerier. Louis Dean and I are of the age where we are deciding what and how we want to do things when it's our time.
I love your Horton's!!!! I follow them on Facebook!
Linda, I had a comment reply ready and it went to the heavens...LOL I am glad you are rested from the ranch and hope returning home is not stressful. We all cried and all laughed at my SIL's dad's funeral. A friend said they went fishing and were stopped by the police on their way back to camp, don't know why. The cop asked Doug , "what is your name?" Doug said ," It's Douglas McArthur Smith." The cop says, Don't get smart with me buddy." The truth is, that actually was Doug's full name.Delete
I hope to go back to Horton's when it's cooler out. Glad you can follow them on Facebook. Take care and stay cool. Blessings, xoxo, love you, Susie
I love the old whiskey barrel and the plants in it too, very pretty! Enjoyed this shopping trip with you! Love to see new things and interesting places. Wow, that plane on the previous post looks like it was headed STRAIGHT FOR YOU! ha ha Hope your weekend is going well.ReplyDelete
Hi Debbi, I am loving the sunny skies...but oh do we ever need rain here. I have never seen our lawn so brown. It's going to sprouting weeds soon. You know how where there's no grass the weeds will grow. Bummer. Blessings to you, stay cool and safe. xoxo, SusieDelete
I would love to be there to see it in person. I loved visiting there when I got to meet you, susie. I hope that you have a wonderful, blessed Sunday- xo DianaReplyDelete
Thank you Diana. There will be a fall market at Horton's...hope that one is cooler. LOL I thought it wasa fun time just to be out with my daughter but she had also made other plans for the afternoon , so our time went quickly. Hope you are having some fun along with your VA job, office job and taking care of everyone else job. :):) Bless you my friend, love, xoxo, SusieDelete
Hot here to Susie! It looks like a very fun flea, even if you didn't buy anything. I have a whiskey barrel that I brought from our previous home. Still love it! That was a great price on the Lavender. Sorry about the passing of your son in laws father. Like you said, sometimes it's a blessing when they are in so much pain. Have a wonderful week!ReplyDelete
Thank you Jann. It rained a wee bit here today. We need a couple inches of sweet rain. Our lawns dead !!!!Delete
I will venture back to Hortons and shop inside in the cool. LOL Blessings, xoxo, Susie
And im sitting here wondering how in the world you went to DQ and didn’t get a cone of soft serve?ReplyDelete
Lisa, Kathy and I actually split a chicken sandwich, fries, and sundae.(which Kathy ate the most , because it was loaded with chocolate fudge) LOL Brought our cola's home. We just were not real hungry...I think it mostly had to do with her time limit till she meet up with her BFF to go look at condos. Fun anyways. Bless you, xoxo, SusieDelete
Oh Susie, I can comment today, but most of the time I can't, so I'm going to take this opportunity while I can hahaha. I'm so sorry about all the people in your life who passed away recently. Going to funerals of loved ones is very emotional. Horton's looks wonderful this Summer. The blue tent caught my eye. Did you buy anything? My sister would have liked the table with the vintage aged look items. How nice that you went to Dairy Queen after with Kathy. I have been wanting to go there for a chocolate dipped cone cause it's summer time, but the Dairy Queen is in the next town over.ReplyDelete
Stay cool in the summer heat, Susie. It gets in the 100's here.
Yikes Sheri, I do not like anything higher than 75 degrees...LOL. I laugh when people say, "it's a dry heat" cause hot is hot dry or humid. I did not buy anything at Horton's this time. But I want to go back there and just look again. You must want a cone from DQ because it makes you think of fun times in summer. Hope you get one soon. Blessings to you, love, xoxo, SusieDelete
Oh I'm sure that was a treat to visit, I know a gal named Rosemary who said she was setting up there also. her blog is villabarnesReplyDelete
Do you mean at Horton's? I wish I had known. Mr. Horton said they had some new venders this time. I loved so many things, but you know we have to cut back when we want. LOL Blessings, xoxo, SusieDelete
So sorry to hear about so many deaths. Mercy...death will come to all of us for sure. Lots of eye candy to gaze at. Oh I love the old flags. Hugs and blessings, CindyReplyDelete
Cindy, I too like the flags that look aged. I have a couple I keep in the kitchen in an old silver water pitcher. I will write my son-in-laws mom soon. I think when all the business of funerals are over, that is when people get very lonely. Blessings, xoxo, SusieDelete
I just love Hortons..Thanks for taking me along..ReplyDelete
Missy, I have to go back. There were things inside that I did not get to see. The outside was mostly venders and they are gone now. Blessings, xoxo, SusieDelete
I am sorry for your loss, Susie. My condolences to you and your family.ReplyDelete
Thank you so much Sandi. I am going to write a note to my SIL 's mom...you know once everything kind of quietens down , that's when people get very lonely. Blessings to you, xoxo, SusieDelete
Susie, sorry for the loss in your family. That flea market looks like loads of fun but, yeah, the heat can ruin a good time. Glad we are going to be out of it for awhile..Happy Wednesday..xxoJudyReplyDelete
Judy, Glad you and the captain are off on an adventure...where the weather is good. Please be safe. Blessings, xoxo, SusieDelete
yes, i agree...the heat can take all our fun away...xoxoReplyDelete
BJ, I have read that you are in the triple digit heat there in Texas. Please stay safe and cool. We had three nice days and this evening the three days of nasty is coming in here. Possible severe storms. We need the rain...but not wind, hail and worse. :( Blessings to you, xoxo, SusieDelete
Oh Susie, I have to agree with you on this horrible heat. We've had it too. I've been inside for the most part. I pray you're well and am sorry for your loss.ReplyDelete
Gert, I have written notes to those that lost there loved ones...I thin it's after the funeral when people get more lonesome. I let them know we are still praying for them. Oh we have had to stay in way more than we normally would thru summer. Not getting done all the things we dreamt about. the shed is still half painted..at least it is the two sides seen from the road. LOL. Blessings to you sweet friend, love, xoxo, SusieDelete
Thank you for the pix of my Elan booth. The heat was a major factor at The French Market. I ended my Saturday with heat exhaustion. Trying to muster the gumption to do this again in 2019. Www.elanfragrance.com Be well.ReplyDelete
