Just this past week I read on blogs about the fogs of August predicting our winter snows. I hope that is an old wife's tale. Because today is the 2nd and this is our second fog. LOL.
Normally I can see the traffic on the road just south of here....not today.
It is starting to burn off, slowly.
Just eerie floating along through the trees.
My daughter Angie, flew to Florida for her last week of break from teaching. We were going to have another day of fun before school started. I will have to wait for a weekend . Since she doesn't get to see her sweet daughter as often as she would like. Airfares have been cheap enough that she can do this a few times a year.
She wanted to spend some time with her daughter(my granddaughter) Sierra. Those girls have so much fun together. Sierra sent me a snap of a crowd of people gathering on the beach, saying, Shark, Shark. (yikes) I told Sierra it was a good thing her father wasn't there to see it....for he would be flying right back home. LOL
Teddy Bear made me this new ink pen. He went to his son Health's house one weekend and made the blanks. The blanks are a combination of burl woods and resin. Resin can be in any color. Ted brought the blanks home to turn on his own lathe.
I love the rosy pink color he chose for my pen. He made one for himself from a brown color. Ted could not remember the name of the burl wood. I love my new pen and will carry it in a special pocket in my handbag.
Hope all of you are starting your August safely and happily. XO
Love your pen! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHope not true about fog here in Indiana-moved here in December close to daughter! I also take advantage of low fares and do Florida several I times a year at son and family.
Brenda, I used to think I would retire to Florida...then I have most of my family within 40 miles of me..so here I grow where I was planted, in central Indiana. If you life close to Tipton, try to come the Horton's Autumn Market in the center of town in September. Hope the airlines keep the fares cheap...it sure helps. Thank you, I love my pen too. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteNot sure where Tipton is...I live Greenwood area with Indy address near daughter. Apartment...love your blog of course!!! Will google Horton!!
DeleteIt looks your August is off to a great start!
ReplyDeletePilar, So far even with fog, the days have been nice and sunny. I have ben enjoying the butterflies around the porch. It's those simple things that make our hearts sing. Hope you are doing well and looking forward to a fun weekend. Bless you honey, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI love your new pen!! Happy August! -Jenn
ReplyDeleteI am wishing you a great August too, Jenn. Isn't this pen special, I love it. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI have heard the expression about the fogs in August too, just hope it isnt true. Lovely pen...someone is very smart! Glad your daughter is getting to spend some time with her daughter before school starts.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I am hoping those are old wives tales about the snows. LOL. I kind of like fog to look at or walk in, but I stress if I have to drive in it. :( I love writing to my sisters who do not email, text , go much. So I can use my new pen. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI love your peaceful photos with early morning fog.
ReplyDeleteSandi, Fog does make it seem quiet and peaceful. I like looking at it, not driving in it. Blessings to you, hope your day is great. xoxo, Susie
DeleteYour new pen is really gorgeous! What a talented hubby you have...tell him I said that! heehee! Hugs to you both, Diane
ReplyDeleteDiane, I tell Ted every nice thing my blog family says about him.He does smile about it too. I think we all like to be praised on our talents. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteWell gee. Now I'm wishing for some fog. Clear skies each morning here. Your daughter and granddaughter are both pretty and my goodness! Your daughter doesn't look old enough to have a grown-up girl! I love the pen. Your Teddy Bear is mighty thoughtful.
ReplyDeleteOh Nonnie, I can not wait to tell Angie what you said...she will be thrilled. You know as women we all seem to hit a place in life where we start to think we maybe showing our age. :) Ted used to make things all the time. He still makes Christmas gifts for my sisters and all the girls in the family. Which reminds me, I have to come up with an idea or design. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI have never heard that about the fogs of August but we live right on Lake Superior and we have fog all the time, so that must be why we get buried in snow every winter!!!!That is a masterpiece of a pen!!!!
ReplyDeleteLaurie, I like you am laughing...cause I thought ..gee we may be completely cover for the entire winter, if we get the fog we had last year. LOL. I will tell Ted what you said about the pen, thank you honey. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI've heard that fog story too. I think I will record our August fog just to see how accurate that can be. I love that pen! If hes doesn't already, He should sell those!
ReplyDeleteLisa
Lisa, Ted and I used to set up at the farmers' market to sell all his handmade crafts. You know what they say about location-location. People were just wanting you to become their private woodworker. LOL I should get a farmer's almanac to see if that's true about August fogs. Bless you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteWe have had fog too, and I noticed a pear tree changing colors!
ReplyDeleteAnn, Our tulip poplar tree loses leaves earlier than most trees and it's dropped many yellow leaves already. We may have an early fall. If we do, I sure hope it last a long time. LOL Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteWonderful that Angie got to spend that time with Sierra. Those pens your husband made are works of art. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen, I love my pen and I will tell Ted how much you like it. I am happy Angie got to go be with Sierra. Her husband could not get off from work, so she went without him...he hates flying anyway. LOL Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteWhat beautiful people - your daughter and granddaughter are!!
ReplyDeleteAnd that pen is so special. One of a kind. Does Teddy have an Etsy shop? Bet he could sell those!
No fog around here! At least we are not in 100+ heat for another few days. Summer is not over yet! Darn it!
Linda, I don't know how you can take that kind of heat. I am a Winnie anymore, the heat drains my energy. No Ted doesn't sell on line. We used to set up at the Farmer's Market. But you can waste a whole Saturday and not sell a thing. Bummer. I am going to be sure to tell Sierra and Angie what you said. They will be smiling ear to ear. Thank you. Hope you are getting some good rest and peace. I think of you everyday. Blessings, love you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI have never heard that saying about the fog. We are close to the river so we have a lot of fog when the conditions are right. Those pens are gorgeous! I would love a pen like that. You are lucky to have a husband who can make one for you.
ReplyDeleteKathy, I think of things like fog all the time....would mean snow all winter. LOL. Think of the blanket you'd be making. LOL. I will tell Ted you like that pen. I should show his on my blog also. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI hope tat fog story is not TRUE! Not wanting snow yet. :-( Janice
ReplyDeleteAugust fogs will tell how many snows you will have in winter. I thought one year we had more fog than I have ever seen...but we did not get that many snows. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteOh, I hope the fog deal isn't true 'cause I don't want a hard winter.
ReplyDeleteMy son makes the most beautiful pens, too. I will try to get a pic of them and do a post...
BJ, That is nice that your son is talented too. I think when someone makes a pen for you it is special. oh I hope our August fogs aren't a sign of the snow we get come winter. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI so hope you are wrong about the fog and snow. I don't think I can bear another winter like last.
ReplyDeleteLove the pens. Handsome!
Actually we had a mild winter here as far as snows...but the temperatures were to coldest ever. I love my new pen also. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteAugust is off to a great start. How fun Angie got to go to Florida before school starts back up. Can't believe school is starting soon. Ugh where did our summer go. Too short. Happy Friday and have a great weekend. Love the pen Ted made for you. Wow gorgeous.
ReplyDeletexoxo
Kris
Thank you Kris, I have already used my pen at the bank. The ATM was getting worked on so I went thru the window where a lady helps you. I do not like using their pens. But I remember pens on chains at our bank when I was young. :) I want to enjoy my flowers as long as I can, don't you. Oh yes, once school starts says autumn to me...plus our state fair is going now. Blessings to you sweet friend, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI love foggy mornings and love to see them roll in in the evenings, I hope the predictions are only wives tales. Love the pen, too.
