Starting August....

Just this past week I read on blogs about the fogs of August predicting our winter snows. I hope that is an old wife's tale. Because today is the 2nd and this is our second fog. LOL.
Normally I can see the traffic on the road just south of here....not today.
It is starting to burn off, slowly.
Just eerie floating along through the trees.
My daughter Angie, flew to Florida for her last week of break from teaching. We were going to have another day of fun before school started. I will have to wait for a weekend . Since she doesn't get to see her sweet daughter as often as she would like.  Airfares have been cheap enough that she can do this a  few times a year.
She wanted to spend some time with her daughter(my granddaughter) Sierra. Those girls have so much fun together.  Sierra sent me a snap of a crowd of people gathering  on the beach, saying, Shark, Shark. (yikes)   I told Sierra it was a good thing her father wasn't there to see it....for he would be flying right back home. LOL
Teddy Bear made me this new ink pen.  He went to his son Health's house one weekend and made the blanks.  The blanks are a combination of burl woods and resin. Resin can be in any color. Ted brought the blanks home to turn on his own lathe.
I love the rosy pink color he chose for my pen. He made one for himself from a brown color. Ted could not remember the name of the burl wood.  I love my new pen and will carry it in a special pocket in my handbag.
Hope all of you are starting your August safely and happily. XO

    1. Brenda, I used to think I would retire to Florida...then I have most of my family within 40 miles of me..so here I grow where I was planted, in central Indiana. If you life close to Tipton, try to come the Horton's Autumn Market in the center of town in September. Hope the airlines keep the fares cheap...it sure helps. Thank you, I love my pen too. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Oh Nonnie, I can not wait to tell Angie what you said...she will be thrilled. You know as women we all seem to hit a place in life where we start to think we maybe showing our age. :) Ted used to make things all the time. He still makes Christmas gifts for my sisters and all the girls in the family. Which reminds me, I have to come up with an idea or design. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Lisa, Ted and I used to set up at the farmers' market to sell all his handmade crafts. You know what they say about location-location. People were just wanting you to become their private woodworker. LOL I should get a farmer's almanac to see if that's true about August fogs. Bless you, xoxo, Susie

    1. Ann, Our tulip poplar tree loses leaves earlier than most trees and it's dropped many yellow leaves already. We may have an early fall. If we do, I sure hope it last a long time. LOL Blessings, xoxo, Susie

And that pen is so special. One of a kind. Does Teddy have an Etsy shop? Bet he could sell those!
No fog around here! At least we are not in 100+ heat for another few days. Summer is not over yet! Darn it!

    1. Linda, I don't know how you can take that kind of heat. I am a Winnie anymore, the heat drains my energy. No Ted doesn't sell on line. We used to set up at the Farmer's Market. But you can waste a whole Saturday and not sell a thing. Bummer. I am going to be sure to tell Sierra and Angie what you said. They will be smiling ear to ear. Thank you. Hope you are getting some good rest and peace. I think of you everyday. Blessings, love you, xoxo, Susie

    1. August fogs will tell how many snows you will have in winter. I thought one year we had more fog than I have ever seen...but we did not get that many snows. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Thank you Kris, I have already used my pen at the bank. The ATM was getting worked on so I went thru the window where a lady helps you. I do not like using their pens. But I remember pens on chains at our bank when I was young. :) I want to enjoy my flowers as long as I can, don't you. Oh yes, once school starts says autumn to me...plus our state fair is going now. Blessings to you sweet friend, xoxo, Susie
