This Week's Happenings....

We had some rains, which we still need a bit more and it's predicted the next four days . Scattered showers.  It would rain like a monsoon for a 10-15 minute span , then stop.

Even clear up in spots while raining in others.  Sun in the front yard and rain in the back. LOL
With rain and some hot sunny days. Things are changing. See the tulip poplar leaves already starting to fall. It could be from the draught conditions we have had through summer.
My gardening daughter Karen, has picked pumpkins even. She is giving them to her friends at work.
She has even picked a bunch of tomatoes and cut them up for freezing.  So good in a big pot of chili, come winter. She has stocked  her freezer with many things from the garden, plus handed out to friends and family.
Yesterday I had my sister Pam come to lunch.  I laugh about her glasses at the end of her nose.  First she squints and tries to read, then she gets her readers out and then she slides them down her nose. LOL  We had a fun time and watched our all time favorite  soap opera...The Young and Restless.
Monday was Emma's first day of school this year. My little crafting buddy has grown up somewhat.  Papaw said , "Too bad she could not get some new jeans for school. " hahaha....those are her new jeans. Probably cost extra for all those slash marks.
I just had to post this and I hope everyone can read it. I mean I thought it was clever and funny. Amish Uber.  I guess there's a calling for anything under the sun.
Wishing everyone a good weekend.  Relax and enjoy these summer days. XO

    1. Pilar, I think pumpkin treats are absolutely fall. I am not so into pumpkin pies, but love pumpkin breads. I like to use pumpkins is fall décor but not jack-o-lanterns. LOL. Hope you are having some fun summer days young lady. Time is flying, doesn't it seem? Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  2. Amish Uber! I could read it just fine and it is funny!!
Ah, your Emma! Where have the years gone? I remember her as a little bitty girl when you and I first ‘met’ in the World of Blog!
All that garden produce is such a blessing! Next year I may try growing pumpkins! Our garden did next to nothing this year. Too dry and we kept leaving for the country and didn’t take care of it.
Love your photos, Susie. Rain in front and sunshine in the back. We need rain! Had a little bit yesterday but we are in a terrible drought.
We need to paint our house and if our winter is mild this year, that’s when I’m going to do it. And I’m going to get Louis Dean to help me!
Happy Weekend to you and your Teddy Bear! Amber and family are going to Guld Shores for their beach week. They left today. We went last year. It’s a long drive.....

    1. Linda, My brother Mikes was a stat trooper up in northern Indiana..he said the amish would get drunk at times and let the horse just take them down the road home. How they know is, the horse would run the stop signs. LOL. I like growing things but it was a constant watering job this year for anyone trying to have flowers or gardens.
Did you see how tall Emma is at 14 and a half? She's getting her dad's height. Her legs were longer than mine when she was 8 .LOL. Ted and I headed to Goodwill. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Nonnie, I would love to see the Amish Uber. :):) We cut the tomatoes up in small pieces and freeze them in freezer bags flat...so you can stack them. Do you remember when we would never had worn ripped jeans? LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  8. We had wonderful rain here too all night and most of the morning. So welcome! Isn't that odd how it can be sunny in the front yard and raining in the back! And I remember when I was little and it was raining while the sun was shining brightly and Mama would say that the devil was whipping his wife.

We have yellow leaves falling from the tulip poplar too! Maybe the rain last night will slow that down a little. I think Emma's jeans are very chic!

    1. Dewena, Glad you got needed rain too. I have never heard that one about the rain on a sunny day. :) If we were smart wouldn't we slice our own jeans. LOL. I thought Emma looked cute, she has those long legs. Enjoy your weekend. Blessings to all, xoxo, Susie

  9. We have been at the beach all week with no rain and 100 degrees! Back home we heard that there has been some rain and storms. Im glad . Oh those distressed jeans! I love them and cringed when I bought some. I ended up doing my own pair. Tell her to get some old jeans, cut a few slits and use a cheese grater and make her own next time.

    1. Lisa, I know my daughter would have made Emma some cut, ripped jeans...funny how picky kids can be. I have one g.daughter who cuts up t-shirts to make cute summer tops.
Even 100 degrees on the beach would be hot for me. I am not good with super hot days. Hope it cools down there. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  10. Gosh Susie, I wish we could get some rain! It's been very hot here. What a bounteous garden that is. Can't believe she's picking pumpkins already. I got mine in a little late. Should be ready in time for Halloween. I heard about that Amish Uber on the news. I loved it!

    1. Jann, The Amish Uber is so funny even to say it. Like Amish big screen TV.:):) I pray all the states that need rain get enough. It's almost scary for our water supplies. The area with fires really could use some rain to help put the fires out..but not so much to make mud slides. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  12. Hi Susie, so nice to meet you! You have a lot of grandchildren! We have three granddaughters. Emma is beautiful! Yes, I could read the Amish Uber article, I just clicked and enlarged. So funny! No way to get a ride unless you happen to see him and flag him down! We have many Amish and Mennonite around here. In fact, we are deacons in the Mennonite Church! But not the very conservative kind of church.

I little tomato plant did not produce many. I think I need to move that barrel around to a better area. LOL I know you miss your loving Tom. He was a wonderful fellow. It always made me smile when he would drive back around for you to get a photo. So sweet. Blessings to you my friend, love, xoxo, Susie

Your grand daughter is so cute in her new jeans. I just bought my daughter a pair of the distressed jeans and wooo they are expensive. Yep you have to pay more for jeans that are ripped lol! Have a great weekend.

  17. What grade in Emma in? best wishes for a GREAT YEAR for her this year! I know.....those jeans!! ha ha lOL---so fun to see what styles come and go isn't it? We sure wouldn't have ever worn anything torn up all like that, but now it's the "cool" thing I guess. LOL Of course, I'm SOOOO old school, we were in bell bottoms and platforms and Earth shoes, and mood rings and maxi dresses and love beads and go go boots and fishnet pantyhose and smock tops, etc. ha ha Seems like it was just yesterday.....Hope you are having a real nice weekend!
