Decorating...

Getting some decorations set out. Filled this little tray with some small things, to make a centerpiece. It's not in the center of the table in this shot.
I got out the pumpkins I made last year from old sweaters, doilies , lace, and twigs for stems.
 Stuffing , twine and twigs.
Some old paint -by- numbers , that someone painted long ago. Got these from a thrift shop.
I love the bright colors of these paintings. I remember doing some years ago when we were so young and broke. LOL
Anyone can make cloth pumpkins. You do not need to sew even.  Use ribbons, twine and strips of lace.
I bought this pheasant planter many years ago, on sale. I love his pretty colors. I never put a plant in it.
Found this little oil painting at goodwill.  I just love it.
So I put the old paintings,  old books,  tiny fake pumpkins, and the ones made from the  sweaters.
I even used a couple cards I have saved from last season. Don't forget a sunflower or two. :):)
Here's the pheasant beside a couple paintings. So the mantle is fully decorated.  Sorry I forgot to show the entire mantle in a shot.  I have a basket of fake pumpkins for the porch, but picked up three little real ones today. My daughters got some different colors for their decorating schemes.  I 'll get some pictures soon.
We had the nicest weather this weekend. Today was really pretty and low temperatures compared to what we have had.  No AC...hooray.  It's been so wonderful to have the windows open.
Wishing all a great new week ahead. Be safe. XO

    1. Boston Boy, I will drive to the little town north of here and get a shot of all the plastic Halloween. LOL. I do not do much for that holiday(is it one?) . Some go all out. You know that blow up yard stuff. LOL. I like to decorate for the season more than holidays. Well there is the special one Christmas. :):) Hope you are well and enjoying good old retirement. It's a lot of paperwork I think. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie

It was lovely to come home to all my fall decorations. I will never take a long vacation in September again. It was great but I missed a month of seeing all my fall 'debris.'

    1. Linda, I can't begin to tell you how happy I was to read you are back in your own home. I was so thrilled for you and LD to have that great adventure, but worried about you.LOL I know you love your fall decorations. I finally did a little here. I am seeing that I do not have the desire as I once did. So I will probably put a bit more out later. Like the porch set up. LOL Hug LD for me and he can hug you for me....glad you are home. 10. Happy Fall Harvest Season, Susie! Your fall decor is quite lovely! Your sweater pumpkins are incredible... so creative! All the pieces go together perfectly, such beautiful colors!

I love that you focus on fall, and not Halloween. We do the same at our home. In fact, we are already doing a little Christmas decorating! (Stringing lights on evergreen trees outdoors before the weather turns cold!)

Thank you for inspiring me today!

    1. So smart of you to put the string lights out before the cold and snow. I will be posting of the Halloween décor in the town north of us. Two people go all out...one knows when to put that décor away and one leaves it out till Christmas at times. Yikes, makes me nuts. :) Hope all is well at your house. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. BJ, You know why I like fake pumpkins the best?? the squirrel will nibble on the real one some times and fake ones never rot. That's a big plus. LOL The 1st time my daughters and I carved a pumpkin it started smelling...little did we know it was rotting at the bottom. We still laugh about that. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  18. It was fun to see all the decorating you have done for the season, Susie. Your little owl has a sweet face. I love the paintings of the red house and trees. It's so charming and looks just like Autumn. And the oil painting is lovely. Goodwill has some nice things sometimes, don't they? Your mantel looks so festive for the season, and you did a wonderful job decorating, Susie.

    Happy October!

    1. Hi Beca, You can make those pumpkins so easily. The scrap parts that you do not use can even become part of the stuffings. When I made the sweater pumpkins, I used the body part from the sleeve hole down to the hem. But I made some smaller ones with parts of the sleeves. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
