Harvesting....

Out driving we came upon a farmer harvesting soybeans. They are always dusty.
This morning the sun rose in the road, oh I love to see that golden glare. I rarely get sunrise shots out here.
The neighbor man had his crop wagon hooked up to his truck. He was on his way to his uncles, down the road.
I call those wagons, bumble wagons as they make the loudest noise as Mike pulls them from the drive next door.

While standing in the road, I turned to the west and saw a bright light.
It was the sun striking the stop sign on the corner.
I look back east and Mikes is on his way back to the field, next to his mothers.
This is the cornfield, he started it yesterday and finished up right before a brief rain went through.
This week we went to Liz's for an early dinner. Got to see Lynzie, Max and Luke. Also the chickens were out and about. The one with the fancy tail is the new rooster.  So pretty.
They are in the gravel drive scratching around, just makes me smile to watch them.  That drive needs more gravel. :):)  I certainly enjoyed our baked spaghetti , with all the trimmings, and pumpkin dump cake , that Liz and Lynzie made for our dinner. So good. I thought I was going to have to pull Ted away from the table. LOL
Hope all of you have a wonderful weekend. Please remember the people in the Carolinas going through floods and loss. XO

  3. How different this is from where I live. You never see a road with just a couple of cars on it. It's so pretty where you are. I loved all the pictures. Thanks for showing me a bit of your world.

    1. Dewena, I am always happy to catch a sunrise, as it's hard to see them with the woods on both sides of the road to the east. Oh the great grandsons were eating that spaghetti too. Don't you love the faces of children eating it. I wish I could have gotten a picture of Luke eating ice cream for his dessert...he only had a bit, but he ate it so carefully with his spoon and when it looked more melted, he picked up the tiny bowl and drank it...so funny and all over his little face. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

    2. Susie, I hope you do get a pic of Luke eating ice cream sometime. Actually any photos of small children enjoying simple things is precious as they so wholeheartedly are involved in the moment.

I can't remember if I told you but we will be welcoming our 2nd great-grand around Christmas time, the perfect present!

  6. Thanks for the views of where you live. It looks like a very comfortable place to live. It's so different from where I live. I was complaining to Arlene on how difficult it is to get around. So many people and so many cars.

    1. Boston Boy, You know I would truly be bald if I live in a big city and had to drive.LOL I would tear my hair out. I go to our small town and it's like a city at certain times. When we have our festival it's crowded and need more parking lots . LOL. I think it's fun to see others' surroundings. Have a fun weekend. Blessings to you and Arlene, xoxo, Susie

    1. Missy, It's cloudy and thank goodness the wind shifted and the fellow cutting beans across the road, the wind will blow the dust away from our house. :) That's a blessing to me. I do not know if a squirrel could ever stave, do you? There's food everywhere for them. Blessings for a good day there. xoxo, Susie

  14. Those chickens sure are cute. Susie. I love these sunrise pictures. I often see the sunrises more than the sunsets. That is a cool picture of the sun shining on the stop sign. It's as if it is telling us to slow down, stop and view these wonderful signs of nature. It's interesting to see all the harvesting going on in your area, like the soybeans. That is such a pretty picture of the crop wagon coming down the road with the sun in the distance. Pumpkin Dump Cake - sounds Yummy!

Have a splendid week coming up, Susie.

    1. Thank you Sheri. The way you described the stop sign is perfect. Harvesting is long and dirty. Once all the crops get taken in, I will wash our windows. That pumpkin dump cake with a scoop of ice cream was so good. Wish you could have seen Luke eating his ice cream. So darn cute. Blessings to you and your family, love you honey, xoxo, Susie

    1. Diana, We both had busy times last week. You know how I saying busy...it's lots of chores usually. Hope to see more pictures of your weekend. :) I thought the field across the road was being harvested but it was the one next to it and even next door to our neighbors too. Two soybean fields to go , right here , and I can wash windows. But rain is coming in this week...so those crops will have to wait, unless they bring in a couple crews. The kid next door likes to get right to work, thankful his uncle(Who lost his wife this year) can help him. Blessings to all of you, xoxo, love, Susie

I love the sugar maples, they make the prettiest fall colors. Blessings to you and your husband. I truly loved seeing you dance together. xoxo, Susie

    1. Haha Debbie, I love when it's soybeans palnted in the field across the road...so I can still see a distance. But when it's corn, well that gets too tall to see very far. The Pioneer Seed company has many fields of corn in our area. My daughter's old rooster was attacking people , so they got rid of Samson and got this new pretty boy. I do not know his name. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Tahnk you Judy. I hated to let summer go...even though I honestly stayed inside in the AC more than I ever have in my entire life. That part was sad. I absolutely love getting sunrises and sunsets. There's just a few days when the sun rises and sets in the middle of the road. :):) Liz's old rooster Samson got mean and attacked people so they got a new fellow in his place. :) Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  22. That is one handsome rooster! Love the photos, and I always love watching the farmers in the fields at harvest time. The equipment they use now is so huge, it's incredible how fast they can get everything done. The soybeans are dusty, as you said, and seem to bring with them the Asian lady beetles - like the plagues in Exodus! But we contract with a company to come spray around the doors and windows of our house and garage or we would have swarms of them congregating in the corners of the ceilings. It's totally worth the money to us, for our farm has soybeans (and corn) this year. Hope you have a good day today. Love that stopsign glare from the sun. Perfect!

    1. Judy, My daughter was plagued by "ladybugs" for a few years and finally got rid of them. I do not blame you a bit to spray for them. I can't stand bugs in my house. I leave bees, spiders, and of course buuterflies alone, if they are outside. Love the butterflies and bees. But if a spider come in the house..well I have to smash it. They scare me and make me cringe if I think it's been on me. LOL Hope you are having nice weather there. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  23. I love a beautiful sky! We are surrounded by trees so if I see a pretty sky, I'm not at home ;-) Your shots are spectacular!
Our former home was surrounded by farms. Corn would be harvested all night right outside our bedroom windows....can't say I miss that part of farm living :) Lots to love about it though and your pictures reminded me of that fact.
