Weekend Pass....

Ted was allowed a weekend pass home. He was very happy about that. I see glimpses of energy here and there, it does last long at this time.
This s the shuttle that comes for us at the apartment near the hospital and takes us to appointments.  Such a handy transportation.
This is a poster at the bone marrow clinic in the hospital. The picture is of  Dr.Anand Tandra, Ted's doctor. He is one of four in this group. All are so smart and truly caring.
When Ted has to take more pills than ever in his life and the pill holders are not near big enough. So I just used a big picnic paper plate to hold his meds for each day. There's morning, afternoon, evening and bedtime. I have read named the sections a couple times.  I will have to get a bigger holder. This is time consuming and that is because I double check . All the long twisted names of meds, confusing...and some drs. use the product name .
Near the last two days of Ted's hospital stay after a big rain, there was a rainbow ...I took it as a sign of great hope.
Then that evening there was a beautiful full moon. A day later, we  transferred to the out of hospital housing. So near by and helpful.  This is all paid for by donations. I think this will be one of our favorite charities.
This is our other one, Cystic Fibrous Foundation. Today is a walk for our great grandson Luke. I was sure hoping to be able to join everyone, but it just didn't work out.  Luke's aunt made up T-shirts to help raise money. It did raise hundreds of dollars. How wonderful.  Please pray for the children.
Ted will have two more appointments this coming week. Then I think we will be allowed to return home . He will have weekly appointments, then it will be monthly.  Ted has done amazingly well with this transplant. It is a long process ...lots of tests and meds. He has to shower daily , take care of his dental hygiene, and always be on the look out for anything different occurring with his body. The doctors are happy with the results. I am so thankful to all of you for prayers and well wishes. Thankful God has shown us mercy and love.  XO

  2. I am so happy for Ted AND for you. It will be good to get home-a bit scary maybe- but you will do fine.

How wonderful that you have been able to stay close to the hospital in housing that is provided through donations. How great is that!

    1. Oh Diana, I can not wait to tell Ted that. You made him laugh about waxing his bald head in your text. He says this pass is good for him but it was crazy for me..well you know how that goes, right. Blessings to you dear friend, love, xoxo, Susie

  3. Praise God and thank you, Jesus!! Another leg of this journey has happened and y'all are moving on through the last few. Challenging times and you have both been so strong. Thank God for the donations of housing and transportation. And sucha good group of doctors to take care of Ted.He may have to take medicine the rest of his life. They have pill boxes for four doses a day and holds a week. Filling the boxes is like rocket science. I can't talk or listen or be distracted in any way when I do ours.I've made a couple of mistakes over the years - like giving him a sleeping pill every morning for two weeks. And forgetting he gets Eliquis TWICE a day instead of just the morning!
How exciting it will be to HOME! Normal routine has never looked so good!! Love you both and pray for you every single day!

    1. Linda, You are so right...I have never before longed for quiet and boring as much as I have the past 6-7 months. I do realize Ted's meds will be a big list...just hoping he will be able to help out. I forget my own meds while tending to his...so I am thankful I only have an aspirin and a cholesterol med daily...well that and vitamins. You know with STRESS , I will never be off those cholesterol meds. LOL. You would laugh..when preparing Ted's meds..they want the tiniest ones split in half at times. No not those big old honker pills the tiny ones. Which do not fair well. LOL
Hope all is well in Texas, I have prayed for all in the wake of storms and floods. Not any fields have been planted here in central Indiana either. Blessings to all, be safe. love you guys so much .oxox, Susie

  8. So glad to see that smile on Ted's face. It is almost over so hang in there. You will feel much better once you are in your own home. How wonderful to be provided with housing and transportation. God really takes care of us. The medication will eventually become routine. Joe takes 16 pills a day and at first it was overwhelming but that doesn't last forever. Still praying for you both.

    1. Hi Susie, I am so grateful for your friendship and wonderful prayers. All the kind people praying for us has certainly helped. Ted tries to stay in good spirits. He is a bit low today. I just take his temperature and B.P. to see if he will be fine. That is stressful at times when we are so far from his drs. You are right we have made it this far, can't give up now. Blessings to you , I keep you in my prayers and thoughts always. Love you, xoxo, Susie

That's wonderful that they participate in a walk for your grandson, Luke. I like the t-shirts they made. And they raised money for it too! Susie, it's so good to hear that Ted is doing well with the transplant. Still saying prayers for him and you, dear friend.

  28. Oh Susie ~ So glad to catch up on what's been going on in your life and Ted's. You are so clever and organized with his pills. I had to take charge of Don's during his issues. I think he likes it and wants me to keep doing it!! Ours look small compared to Ted's. We just have AM and PM and one after dinner! Blessing on you. Will keep you in my prayers, and thanks for taking time to come by and visit me.
