This is the little Japanese park in the town, where my daughter Kathy lives. It is the sweetest place to watch koi and ducks at the pond. I did not get to go to the park this year. But I want too before winter.
I will let you all know what happens around here. Our great grandson Luke is really doing fine. His surgery went well and he seems to be full of pep and joy once more. Thank you everyone for your kindness of good wishes and prayers.
I had an x-ray of my foot, because it was hurting so badly I had to use a walker my daughter brought over for Ted when he was very weak once last year. The x-ray showed I had a hairline fracture and a spot of arthritis that was irritating my nerves and tendons on the top, right at the ankle line. The podiatrist told me to start wearing sturdier shoes. I asked about the shoes I wore in the office. Ladies, this is what the doctor told me..."I am not a fan of those Skechers, get a more constructed shoe." Wow and I have lots of Skechers. So I guess that a sturdier shoe will help heal the hairline fracture. I could not believe the dr. did not tell me more.
Hope all of you are well, keeping your distance, wearing masks, ad washing your hands. I am not going to listen to anyone but scientists. This is what they are saying. XO
I love Sketchers! I have had the hairline fractures, but they give me that hard sandal boot to wear, the kind that won't bend. Of course it is big and ugly, then I trip over it and re-injure myself again! Good to see you and get an update!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ginny. My primary dr. asked me if the podiatrist wanted me to wear a cat...I said No just wear sturdy shoes. Go figure. You never what you are getting for medical attention these days. I wear a compression bandage on that foot. I hope it heals. I have no idea how it happened. Bless you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThat little park near your daughter's house is so pretty! I could spend some time there for sure. Hope your foot heals quickly.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kathy. Oh I do love that park, so many pretty trees, plants , and places to sit. It is not a big place either. Just nice. I hope my foot heals fast. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSorry you are having such problems with your foot. Hope it heals quickly. I love my Sketchers and feel like they give me wonderful support...of course I don't have a hairline fracture...just "UGLY" feet.
ReplyDeleteSue
I told the dr. all women want comfortable shoes and the skechers are so soft...that's the rub, not constructed holding of our arches. We just can't win. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteHey...we both "visited" Japan in our posts today!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear Luke is doing well!
Thank you Sandi. I was giving prayers of thanks once my granddaughter sent us photos of Luke playing and smiling. God is good. I really want to see that little park again. Oh it's lit up at Christmas time too. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI am so happy Luke is doing well. Yippee.
I hope your foot heals well. Did the doctor recommend a brand of shoe?
I like the photos you shared, very pretty.
Take care my dear friend,
Carla
Thank you Carla. Luke was smiling and playing in the latest pictures his mommy sent to us. God is good, and I am so grateful. No the dr. actually told me to dig out my old work boots from when I work as an electrician. Saying they would be supportive of my arches. Can you see me now, in old granny dresses and work boots? LOL. Dang. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI am so glad that Luke is doing so well!! Sturdier shoes can be a life-saver! Hope you can find some and will heal well!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Terri. I need my feet to heal. I have bad arthritis in my ankles and that's enough. Oh yes, Our Luke is doing so well. Smiling and playing like he is brand new. That makes me happy. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteOh Susie....I am so sorry about your foot injury..that's so hard! I love my Sketchers too....darn it! Hope things continue to go well for your darling little grandson....sending warm hugs!
ReplyDeleteThank you Betsy. Luke is playing with his brother and their dog. He did get a new toy to be entertained with while healing. Oh he is breathing and sleeping so much better. God is good. the prayers and wishes have helped him. Oh I hope once I heal, I will just get some inserts to put into my shoes and that will be fine. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteGreat news for Luke. Thank the Lord.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to hear that Skechers were not considered sturdy. I've been in sandals most of the summer, guess that not really the best shoe to wear. In the winter, I wear my boots. I love boots. Hopefully your foot will heal. Glad you saw the doctor.
Thank you Wanda. Our Luke is breathing so well and playing like he is back to his old self. I thank our Lord for that gift. I was happy to know all I need to do at this time is wear sturdy shoes. That point of arthritis on top on my foot may need a surgery one day. It's right where it irritates the nerves and tendons. I have no idea how I got the fracture. I always thought my bones were strong. I have had density tests. I always say bend your shoes by grabbing the toe and heal. If it bends in the arch that shoes is not holding your arches up. I think that's how I got a fracture. Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie
DeleteGlad to hear that Luke is doing well. Sorry to hear about your foot, but, hope it heals fast. That yellow house looks quite decorated, to me! I love the parade of pumpkins! But, that park looks just so peaceful and lovely! I'd love to spend some time in a place like that. Continue to listen to the scientists, Susie, and follow their advice. Be safe.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Luke is playing and smiling. That has lifted my spirits . God has been so good to us. Oh I will get healed , I hope it isn't more than a couple months. The decorarions at the yellow house are all old fashioned pieces. I like that the family has saved all those ghosts, pumpkins and spooky things. They do the same at Christmas time too. Oh yes, I am wearing my masks and doing all that the pros are telling us to do. Blessings, stay safe. xoxo, Susie
DeleteSturdier shoes will just give you more support. You might want to try some nursing shoes. Shoes can get expensive when you need support. Glad Luke is doing so well. Enjoy your weekend. Hope your foot feels better
ReplyDeleteMissy, My daughter brought over a pair of her daughter's shoes...she is training to be a beautician...so they are for women who are on their feet for long periods. But they were too big for me , so she gave them to her twin sister who is a nurse and they fit. Her daughter thought she would rather wear sturdier sneakers. Gaa. I think if you pay lots for shoes , you truly try your best to wear them. LOL. I am checking on line for different brands. I am going to try to stay off my feet more. Blessings to you for a great weekend. xoxo, Susie
DeleteI swear by Keen shoes and they have shoes for everything!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear Luke is doing well.
So many people decorate for Halloween now. Not my thing!!
I am absolutely going to look into this brand. Yes, Luke is an awesome boy. Doesn't it tug at your heart to see children trying their best . Now he is doing fine. Praise God. I am not so into Halloween either. The stores push it to make money. I just like to decorate for the seasons. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSo gad Luke is shining and UP! Yep, since we hiked 1800 miles I hae learned as has my girl, sturdy shoes. She wear good shoes, I wear mid range with Super feet insoles. Hope the fracture heals and you do get relief.
ReplyDeleteLove from Florida
Sherry & jack
I am just going to sit around for a while. Sure, as if. LOL. I don't know how I got a fracture , so I am trying to be careful. No more sprinting to the car pushing the grocery cart...it's panic that drives me to do that..just getting away from others who won't distance. Yikes. Hope you and Sherry are doing well in the new home and enjoying the decorating. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSo glad that your little great is doing well. Oh I'd hate to get rid of my Skechers, but one has to listen to the doctor. All the best finding a sturdier yet comfortable shoe and let us know what it is.
ReplyDeleteVee, I actually found my custom inserts, while looking thru my shoes. Not that I have that many pair any more. Remember high heals, sandals, sneakers galore, work boots , and my all time favorite...dancing shoes. LOL. No more my friend. Now I just have shoe envy. :):) I will let you know what brand I buy. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteUghh, feet! An injury in your foot can really mess things up for you. I'm surprised the dr. didn't give you an air cast to walk around in. Were you going up and down a ladder at all? Stepping on the rungs in "soft" shoes can do it. I hope it starts to heal quickly for you. I love those pumpkins in your picture - autumn is so pretty! -Jenn
ReplyDeleteOh sweet girl, no I was not on a ladder...but I absolutely know what you mean. I used to say that if we were meant to climb ladders God would have given us chicken feet. LOL I like to go by the markets and see all the strange gourds things. Blessings, hope all is well with your dear family. xoxo, Susie
DeleteI have been wearing my hiking shoes...a sturdy walking shoe, more lately and my feet have felt better. Columbia makes them now, they are Montrail shoes. Enjoy your weekend! Sure looks like Fall there!
ReplyDeleteThank you Diane. I do have great envy of all of you who can walk when and as long as you like. I know that shoes have a lot to do with good foot health. We are getting more color here. I fear we may have an early winter...I just do not want that this year. Blessings to you and Ron. xoox, love, Susie
DeleteThankfully your grandson is doing just fine and that you got that foot checked out. I have some sketchers too, they are comfortable, but maybe that is the problem. Good luck on your serrch for a better shoe. Seems like the ones that tie up offer more support.
ReplyDeleteI may end up with my boots after I get thru healing. I need my feet. LOL. Our Luke is doing really well. Just a trooper. He went to see his dr. The dr got his otoscope, for looking into the nostrals, and Luke climbed upon the examining table with out his mom telling him. What a kid. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteOctober, November and December are my favorite months. I love to watch how nature slowly changes from one season to the next. Now is the best time to get out and hike around here - the 100+ temps are pretty much gone, which pleases me just fine!
ReplyDeleteYikes, 100 degree temps, I would be melted. LOL Yes, I can see why you love autumn . I wish you a beautiful one. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI love Sketchers, too! It's hard for me you find a comfortable shoe and they seem to do the trick. A well made sturdy shoe would certainly beat one of those boots, if it works. Be careful and take it easy . . . and listen to your body. Best to heal than to have it get worse.
ReplyDeleteGod bless and keep you . . . you and Ted are in my prayers.
Connie :)
Connie, I know , at times we women can not sit long enough to heal. I certainly learn that when my back was hurt from a fall. I am wrapping my foot every time I have to be on my feet. Thank you my sweet friend, for all your kind prayers. We appreciate them and they are helping. Blessings to you, xoxo, love you, Susie
DeleteSo, when you have a fracture in your foot, they don't immobilize it or splint it or put it in a brace? They even did that for my ruptured tendons so I couldn't move or damage my foot more. That's interesting. Yes, shoes matter. I don't think I've been out of sturdy athletic shoes for 15 years! Sigh. That's why I never wear skirts. I hope it feels much better and very soon -- it's hard buying new shoes when your foot already hurts.
ReplyDeleteJeanie, Bless your heart, you made me laugh...because by golly your are right. It's even hard to try on different shoes that I have already. I don't think that baby dr. really knew enough. I may call that office and ask why they never even gave me a print out of instructions. Since I have only worn athletic shoes, sneakers and slip ons, I have not worn pretty things...just slacks, pants and capris. I really do have to care for myself at this time. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
Deleteoctober is so pretty in your part of the world, i love seeing all those pumpkins!!
ReplyDeletei hope you are able to get by the little park...but with that fractured ankle it may not be wise. i am a little surprised the dr. did not put you in a walking boot!!
answering the question you asked on my blog: i started to keep track, but then they started emerging so quickly, i lost track. i really wish i had kept up with it. i have at least 50 in chrysalis right now that will emerge in the spring. next year i will try to keep track of them, they come and go in so many groups and it gets a little overwhelming. at they end of the day, i can't remember how many or if i ever wrote it down!!
Debbie, I am still walking around, up?down stairs to do laundry. think I need to call that office about what I really should od to help my foot heal. Wow, I did not know you had that many butterflies. Amazing. You should be so proud. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteWe are surrounded by October beauty too:) I am sorry to hear about the fracture, heal quickly my friend! I'll be praying for you and Luke! HUGS!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Theresa. I am grateful for all the rpayers. I am loving the colors we have here...it seems to have happened over night. Take care, blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThe scientists are definitely the experts on what is best for us. So sorry about the fracture. I do hope it heals quickly. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteThank you Laura. I am going to try to do my best to heal. I have much to do. I will wear my mask till we no longer will need worry about covid. Blessings, stay safe. xoxo, Susie
Deleteah I'm using skechers myself and to be honest I love it! I hope you can heal quickly too ^^ have a good day!
ReplyDeleteMaybe your young feet will not be effected by those shoes. I guess I am old and breaking down. LOL> Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI'm sorry about that painful hairline fracture, Susie. I have to wear a high number New Balance shoe. They help me a lot. Your October photos are pretty. Fall is just awesome this year!
ReplyDeleteYes I also wear New Balance and love them, get them on sale on Amazon. Never tried Sketchers so will avoid even trying them. Take care with your foot. Love the pumpkins pics too!
DeleteHi Susie :) I hope your foot gets better soon! The fall and Halloween photos are so nice to see :) So glad to hear about Luke! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you have a hairline fracture right on your ankle, Susie. That must hurt so bad. I wear my Sketchers when I have to walk a long distance, and they're the only shoes that provide comfort. I hope you get the right ones that you need. The orange pumpkins are so pretty, and the Japanese park looks like such a peaceful place to visit.
ReplyDeleteAutumn has definitely come to your area. Have a good week, Susie.
~Sheri
Hi Susie, so glad to hear Luke is doing well. Funny that your podiatrist didn’t give you better information.. I think what he was aiming for are shoes that lace up so it can getter support your foot.
