October Is Pretty....

A week of October is gone already. It seems to have gone by quickly.  The Markets in town have fall plants, gourds, and pumpkins for sale.  The yellow house up in the next town did not put out their big display this year.  But we will drive up by there and keep checking.
This is the little Japanese park in the town, where my daughter Kathy lives. It is the sweetest place to watch koi and ducks at the pond. I did not get to go to the park this year. But I want too before winter.

I will let you all know what happens around here. Our great grandson Luke is really doing fine. His surgery went well and he seems to be full of pep and joy once more. Thank you everyone for your kindness of good wishes and prayers.

I had an x-ray of my foot, because it was hurting so badly I had to use a walker my daughter brought over for Ted when he was very weak once last year.  The x-ray showed I had a hairline fracture and a spot of arthritis that was irritating my nerves and tendons on the top,  right at the ankle line.  The podiatrist  told me to start wearing sturdier shoes.  I asked about the shoes I wore in the office.  Ladies, this is what the doctor told me..."I am not a fan of those Skechers, get a more constructed shoe." Wow and I have  lots of Skechers.  So I guess that a sturdier shoe  will help heal the hairline fracture.  I could not believe the dr. did not tell me more.

Hope all of you are well, keeping your distance, wearing masks, ad washing your hands.  I am not going to listen to anyone but scientists. This is what they are saying.   XO

  1. I love Sketchers! I have had the hairline fractures, but they give me that hard sandal boot to wear, the kind that won't bend. Of course it is big and ugly, then I trip over it and re-injure myself again! Good to see you and get an update!!

    1. Thank you Ginny. My primary dr. asked me if the podiatrist wanted me to wear a cat...I said No just wear sturdy shoes. Go figure. You never what you are getting for medical attention these days. I wear a compression bandage on that foot. I hope it heals. I have no idea how it happened. Bless you, xoxo, Susie

    1. I told the dr. all women want comfortable shoes and the skechers are so soft...that's the rub, not constructed holding of our arches. We just can't win. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Thank you Carla. Luke was smiling and playing in the latest pictures his mommy sent to us. God is good, and I am so grateful. No the dr. actually told me to dig out my old work boots from when I work as an electrician. Saying they would be supportive of my arches. Can you see me now, in old granny dresses and work boots? LOL. Dang. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  8. Great news for Luke. Thank the Lord.
I was surprised to hear that Skechers were not considered sturdy. I've been in sandals most of the summer, guess that not really the best shoe to wear. In the winter, I wear my boots. I love boots. Hopefully your foot will heal. Glad you saw the doctor.

    1. Thank you Wanda. Our Luke is breathing so well and playing like he is back to his old self. I thank our Lord for that gift. I was happy to know all I need to do at this time is wear sturdy shoes. That point of arthritis on top on my foot may need a surgery one day. It's right where it irritates the nerves and tendons. I have no idea how I got the fracture. I always thought my bones were strong. I have had density tests. I always say bend your shoes by grabbing the toe and heal. If it bends in the arch that shoes is not holding your arches up. I think that's how I got a fracture. Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie

  9. Glad to hear that Luke is doing well. Sorry to hear about your foot, but, hope it heals fast. That yellow house looks quite decorated, to me! I love the parade of pumpkins! But, that park looks just so peaceful and lovely! I'd love to spend some time in a place like that. Continue to listen to the scientists, Susie, and follow their advice. Be safe.

    1. Thank you. Luke is playing and smiling. That has lifted my spirits . God has been so good to us. Oh I will get healed , I hope it isn't more than a couple months. The decorarions at the yellow house are all old fashioned pieces. I like that the family has saved all those ghosts, pumpkins and spooky things. They do the same at Christmas time too. Oh yes, I am wearing my masks and doing all that the pros are telling us to do. Blessings, stay safe. xoxo, Susie

  10. Sturdier shoes will just give you more support. You might want to try some nursing shoes. Shoes can get expensive when you need support. Glad Luke is doing so well. Enjoy your weekend. Hope your foot feels better

    1. Missy, My daughter brought over a pair of her daughter's shoes...she is training to be a beautician...so they are for women who are on their feet for long periods. But they were too big for me , so she gave them to her twin sister who is a nurse and they fit. Her daughter thought she would rather wear sturdier sneakers. Gaa. I think if you pay lots for shoes , you truly try your best to wear them. LOL. I am checking on line for different brands. I am going to try to stay off my feet more. Blessings to you for a great weekend. xoxo, Susie

No more sprinting to the car pushing the grocery cart...it's panic that drives me to do that..just getting away from others who won't distance. Yikes. Hope you and Sherry are doing well in the new home and enjoying the decorating. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  14. Ughh, feet! An injury in your foot can really mess things up for you. I'm surprised the dr. didn't give you an air cast to walk around in. Were you going up and down a ladder at all? Stepping on the rungs in "soft" shoes can do it. I hope it starts to heal quickly for you. I love those pumpkins in your picture - autumn is so pretty! -Jenn

  16. Thankfully your grandson is doing just fine and that you got that foot checked out. I have some sketchers too, they are comfortable, but maybe that is the problem. Good luck on your serrch for a better shoe. Seems like the ones that tie up offer more support.

  17. October, November and December are my favorite months. I love to watch how nature slowly changes from one season to the next. Now is the best time to get out and hike around here - the 100+ temps are pretty much gone, which pleases me just fine!

  18. I love Sketchers, too! It's hard for me you find a comfortable shoe and they seem to do the trick. A well made sturdy shoe would certainly beat one of those boots, if it works. Be careful and take it easy . . . and listen to your body. Best to heal than to have it get worse.
God bless and keep you . . . you and Ted are in my prayers.

Thank you my sweet friend, for all your kind prayers. We appreciate them and they are helping. Blessings to you, xoxo, love you, Susie

  19. So, when you have a fracture in your foot, they don't immobilize it or splint it or put it in a brace? They even did that for my ruptured tendons so I couldn't move or damage my foot more. That's interesting. Yes, shoes matter. I don't think I've been out of sturdy athletic shoes for 15 years! Sigh. That's why I never wear skirts. I hope it feels much better and very soon -- it's hard buying new shoes when your foot already hurts.

    1. Jeanie, Bless your heart, you made me laugh...because by golly your are right. It's even hard to try on different shoes that I have already. I don't think that baby dr. really knew enough. I may call that office and ask why they never even gave me a print out of instructions. Since I have only worn athletic shoes, sneakers and slip ons, I have not worn pretty things...just slacks, pants and capris. I really do have to care for myself at this time. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  20. october is so pretty in your part of the world, i love seeing all those pumpkins!!

i hope you are able to get by the little park...but with that fractured ankle it may not be wise. i am a little surprised the dr. did not put you in a walking boot!!

answering the question you asked on my blog: i started to keep track, but then they started emerging so quickly, i lost track. i really wish i had kept up with it. i have at least 50 in chrysalis right now that will emerge in the spring. next year i will try to keep track of them, they come and go in so many groups and it gets a little overwhelming. at they end of the day, i can't remember how many or if i ever wrote it down!!
