Stain Glass....

This oval glass is one of  three. They used to be in the old library, here in Tipton. Thankfully someone had the foresight to save them when the old library was torn down. They now hang in the new library as art. This one is at the front entrance.  I also like the leaded glass, it may have been in the old library, I just don't know for sure. There was a stuffed black bear in the children's reading one, I think he is now in the little museum part of the courthouse. Which you can see here, through the window. I haven't been to the library for some time now. I think it was November, my last trip there. So I really would love a trip to town soon. Hope all of you are doing fine and staying healthy. xo

  2. What a beautiful piece of art! I used to want to do stained glass but it is incredibly hard! I didn't have the strength in my hands.

I love the shot through the library window. I miss the library. Haven't been in ages since I'm not home long enough and all my books would be overdue! What a WEALTH of things you can get through the local library. I wish I had seen about a membership here in Houston when we first arrived last summer. Now we are in the final few months before we return home to stay!

  5. I haven't been to the library in months as it's 1/2 hr drive for me and when I reserve new books it seems to take years to get one. But I miss going. It was such a regular part of my life for decades. The stained glass is lovely. I have one stained glass window of pink tulips that my son gave me for my birthday one year. I treasure it.

  8. I have a beautiful stained glass framed and hanging in the transom window in my entry. I got it 30 years ago whilst on vacation. The pieces you showed are gorgeous. I'd love to learn to do stained glass one day. Keep warm over there. Blessings, Tia

  9. So, so, so wonderful that these treasures were saved! One could weep, for all the treasures of the past, which were not...

Simply gorgeous! And the leaded glass piece is also.

When the sun shines through them, it must put on a magnificent light show!

  10. It makes me feel so good when they salvage things like that stained glass and reuse it. It is just so beautiful and would have been a shame to have not reused and shared it with everyone!

  11. I love going to the library. I love books. And thanks for the reminder to go and get a book on cd to listen to while I work in the house tomorrow. It helps time go by quicker, especially when I'm alone. I have a couple of pieces of stained glass that I love. One, a friend gave me, and one was a simple picture that my Shug made for me. They were both in my potting shed. I need to get them and hang them up in my room!
