Reading....

These are the books at the junk store. I have a lot of books, even though I have slowly thinned some out. I used to read all the time. The past few years , I have become a scanner, not reader. I go through a book and try to glean enough to make me feel as though i have read the book.
Well last week, I read a whole book. The whole thing. I made myself read it. It was not so good. I won't say the title or author's name. I thought it was by another author that I had read before. But it wasn't . The thing is , I stay with it till it was read. So I proved to myself that I can still read a book.
So I am going to be reading this winter . Get yourself a book and start reading. I know Nellie reads all the time :):)
Hope your day is great. I have running to do.  My trip time is so close.  XO

  1. I read constantly. There is always a book next to me, so in those spare minutes I can pick it up and resume from wherever I was. It is my greatest enjoyment. xo Laura

  2. I read all the time too. I love having a Kindle so that I can read at night without having the light on!

    1. Nellie, I can't believe you read that many books at once. I probably could not follow each story. I used to carry a book with me all the time. One of my favorites was "Word Power Made Easy" It was to improve my vocabulary.LOL Hope your day is sweet. xoxo,Susie

  5. I am a reader, I visit the library once a week always, since my vision went caput I read more and listen to audio books, large print I can still read, I just finished a really rotten book, well, I didn`t even finish, you are a busy lady, maybe you will read more maybe in winter, I just did a facebook challenge to list the ten books that you enjoyed the most then challenge 5 friends, of the five friends only one took the challenge, none of the others read books, its just a personal preference, I suppose, I always have read a lot, I grew up in an isolated area, books were and are still my friends, thank you for the kind words today, I treasure our friendship,

    1. Laurie, I wish our mom would have let us go to the library....she was afraid we would lose a book or tear it and she would have to pay. I loved that my girls would join reading clubs and truly loved books. I remember our teacher reading Mobey Dick to us.... a little at the end of each day. I loved it. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  6. Good for you, Susie - you read the whole book! It's been so long since I did that, and I've been meaning to get back to it. I smiled when you said Nellie reads a lot, because my Neli reads a lot too. She has a big library of books in her den, and every time I go to her house, I admire it. Thanks for reminding me to start reading again!!

This is a cool book section at the junk store.

    love,

    1. Sheri, I have read books just to know what they are about, if nothing else. Like the Thomas Hardy books. I have tried to read the classics too. I have yet to read Shakespeare. The Nellie, i mentioned reads 3 books at once...oh my goodness. I would have all the characters rolled together. LOL. Glad your daughter reads well. My girls always joined the summer reading clubs at the library. Angie still reads a book every summer and Karen only reads true crimes. I think Kathy reads some fashion and Lizzy reads manuals for her job. LOL. xoxo,Susie

I think I am going to be a book scanner...I read some Ann Tyler book...ogm, that lady is wordy. I do not need to read ten different description to know what something is,...all on one page. Geech. You know what I am saying. xoxo,Susie

  9. I love to read but I've given myself permission in recent years to stop a book if I'm not enjoying it. I went to the library today! Goodreads is a good book website with book reviews. Sometimes that helps, too. Enjoy your week my friend! Sweet hugs, Diane

    1. I know you do read lots. I love going to the library and going thru the books on sale . I try to read the flap about the author and the story. The book I read said a couple others the author wrote and I thought I had seem a movie about one of them...I was mistaken. But I am going to try to read again. I just hate that I have gotten away from it. Hope you have a good day. xoxo,Susie

  11. Susie I have not read one single book for I don't know how long. I have so many other things I like to do. But I remember I do enjoy reading. I can't seem to sit still long enough to read though. Congrats for completing a book!!

  12. I read in spurts. I started a book on the Beatles that was a Christmas gift when my sister was in the hospital. It's one of 4 volumes and this one is over 800 pages. At the pace I'm going I'll be done by Christmas.
