Events On Sunday....

This is the St. Vincent's hospital in northern Indy. Ted and I went to a small birthday gathering at the hospital for his brother Cliff.
This is Ted in between his sister Dorothy and his little(taller) brother Mic.  Seems Mic torn a tendon in his shoulder.
There were cookie for guest.  Linda had a cupcake for Cliff to blow out a candle.  Which was a bit of therapy for Cliff, it was an effort for him. Linda is a strong woman and I think she  will need to me.  She told me Cliff's therapy was brushing his teeth and bathing, getting dress. His speech is  amazingly good, he searches for words at times. I think his right arm is going to need lots of therapy.
This is the lobby at the hospital. Water features and plants and lots of statues .

The statues are what I call flying nuns...as I do not know the name of that order of nuns.
I think there's 5 of these among the garden area.
This is a statue of St Vincent. It's out front.  This is a very well landscaped  entrance. We stayed about an 1 1/2 , visited with family and church friends of Cliff's.
The good news of the day , Cliff is going to a nursing home near where he lives . He's just thrilled to be closer to home.  My daughter Liz works at the Alzheimer's unit at this nursing home. When we visit Cliff , we can see Liz the same day. :):)
We had cooler weather this weekend. This morning it is 55 degrees , at this time. That is nice...no AC running.  Wishing all a great new week. XO

  1. I remember the tv show, The Flying Nun. It sounds like Cliff is in for quite a lot of physical therapy and such. I hope he is able to regain as much as possible. -Jenn

    1. Jenn, I just had to look that order up on line. I wish I had before posting. They were called "Daughters Of Charity" the hat is a wimple or cornette. Cliff does a lengthy road ahead...thus so does his wife Linda. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Diane, The hardest part of yesterday was seeing his teenaged granddaughter cry, because she saw Cliff cry. Broke my heart/. I held her we talked. I told her to be strong for her granddad....her smiles make him want to try hard to get well. I hope your week is good too. Today was much cooler weather...so welcome here. I am ready to turn that AC off. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  3. I am guessing that Cliff and his wife were in an accident of some kind. I don't remember reading about it on your blog. I hope that both have good recovery. It is so hard to see a loved one struggle.

I am loving this cool weather as you are. I didn't know that it was 55 degrees this morning. I slept in till 8;30 and by then it was 60 on our patio. I think that our patio is the warmest place in the state of Ohio. It has been 100 there for many days. We are so happy to see the cool temps for now.

    1. Cliff had a stroke. About a month ago. His speech is fairly good but his right arm seems the be effected greatly. As you must guess....his wife will be his major care giver...and the caregivers will have to be strong. Any illness seems to put a weight on the mate's shoulders...no matter how much love is involved, don't you think? I know what you are saying about your patio...I love sitting out front on our porch/deck...but hot weather can make us stay in as much as cold weather it seems. I love not having AC or heat on, don't you? Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  5. I'm glad to hear that Cliff is doing better, Susie. That's nice that Liz works at the nursing home so he can feel a sense of family there. We have a St. Vincent shop here in town. They have really inexpensive things to buy, and they also help feed the homeless on certain days. A great organization.

    Have a wonderful week, Susie.

    1. Sheri, I was very scared earlier this morning...just right after I posted today's post, Dorothy texted that Cliff wasn't doing well. I think he may have had too much company yesterday...although the hospital said it was his meds. He was having tremors. But an hour later he was back to doing well. Seems it will be a long road. I did look up the order of those nuns. They were called , " Daughters Of Charity" Their hats are wimples or cornettes . Blessings to you too sweet girl. Love, xoxo, Susie

  6. Oh, I'm glad to see he is making progress and that he will be in a place closer to home. I, also happy for you to know your daughter works there and she will he and to keep an eye on him, too and that you will see her when you visit. That's cute, the flying nuns. I remember that show, bit don't think I ever really watched it.

    1. Hi Mildred, I miss you. Hope all is well there. Being a care giver is a tough position , no matter how hard one tries, it's stressful. So that is why Linda will have to be strong during this. I just went for the newspaper and it's almost chilling this morning...it's 56 degrees here in central Indiana at 7 am. Yesterday was one of those perfectly beautiful days. I wish those for you dear friend. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Hi Kris, Thanks for the good wishes for Cliff...I will be checking on him later today. He's can't remember how to ask "what time is it?"...he says "how many?" It's like he knows it numbers involved but not how to ask. Strange . Blessings, xoxo, Susie
