Into Summer....

You may see me running along the ditch to get a photo of a butterfly. LOL. Here's a pretty one on some clover. The fellow that runs the field across the road has yet to mow his ditch...but remember he hit the telephone pole last year and cut the phone lines to the neighbor's house.
Turtle dove sitting on the wires, cooing. I love hearing them.
The mums are blooming very well. It's some color , although I do hope some wait till later to bloom.
The creeping jenny is touching the ground now.. I really have never used this filler before , I really like the looks of it. So I will be using it again next year.
Sedum in bloom and every flying thing around loves it.
Here's my hydrangea and it has no flower heads at all. It is a good size, but I think it will not bloom this year.
Thank you to all who have prayed for Ted's brother Cliff.  The hospital has decided to move Cliff to an acute center(??)  on a different floor. The center specializes in therapy for strokes.  Cliff has  100%   blockage in his right carotid artery. No surgery, it will be treated with meds.  This is a bit of skinny on Cliff. He was scheduled twice to have his  carotid artery worked on.....twice it was canceled by his dr. The doctor should have had another do it in his stead, but did not. This is where Cliff should have insisted on another doctor, and not have waited . Dear friends, this is something to think about...never put off an important health issue.
Wishing all a beautiful weekend. XO.

  2. That is terrible about his brother. You're right, the doctor should have had someone else do it. Sometimes it is hard to push for medical procedures and override a doctor. -Jenn

    1. Jenn, More and more I am beginning to think twice about our doctors. I think we are all going to have to be more aggressive with our medical needs. Doctors are human and not the Gods we have grown up thinking they are. It's scary. I just can't help but think....maybe Cliff would not have had a stroke if he'd had his medical procedure done in time. Bless you, enjoy the weekend, xoxo, Susie

  3. How frightening for Cliff, and for you all! Stupid doctor, what were they waiting for? Now look at the long road he has ahead of him!

    1. We are hoping for the best for Cliff. It's so scary. I keep wondering if all this could have been avoided. It really makes one think. I have been loving the posts of all your pretty flowers and wonderful gardens. Bless you, xoxo, Susie

  4. Wishing the best for your brother-in-law. More proof you cannot leave your Heath to the medical profession and trust all will be well. Doesn't work that way. Each of us must assume personal responsibility.

    1. Linda, You are so very right...we have to take charge of our own health. Even to the point of changing drs. or getting second opions. Wishing you and Bob a sweet weekend. Enjoy, blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Missy, No ...I honestly did not know to snip the mums down some. I would love for you to do a post on this...I know I can not be the only one in the dark on mums, or am I? LOL. My mums do seem leggy. I love when they are nice rounded mounds. Blessings for a nice weekend, xoxo, Susie

  6. I will continue to pray for Cliff- sorry about his doctor. My hydrangea bloomed a long time ago. How old is yours and when did you last cut it back? I cut mine to the ground every 5 years. I will look into this creepy jenny. LOL- farmer guy must be mower shy after last years oops. Have a good weekend- yes we will be cooler, but will the bugs be gone?

    1. Tete, Thanks to all my blog family for the prayers for Cliff. He's being sent into a specialty center for stroke therapy. I will cut my hydrangea back this fall. I had never heard that before. Also today Missy told me to do the same with my mums in June and they would not be so leggy. Never too old to learn. :):) That farmer is cocky at times. We used to mow the ditch for him , till he acted all nasty about it. So he can mow himself. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  7. A hearty amen to your advice about not putting off a visit to the doctor. I am a firm believer in not waiting. the daughter of a friend of mine put off going to the doctor with a sore throat a few weeks ago and didn't take care of herself. She is now in ICU because the strep infection metastasized in her body. Not good. I love your butterfly in the clover. Have a good weekend.

    1. Nonnie, That is so scary about the young girl. I used to get strep throat every year and my parents never took us to the dr. so much. Then when I was 13 I got rheumatic fever and the drs. said it was from all the strep throats. Today, I received a beautiful calendar from the Paralyzed Vets...it's all butterflies. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  8. Such pretty flowers and I especially love the mums. I don't have much luck with mums. They last a year or two and that's it. I cut my hydrangea back every year. But be careful not to cut new growth since that is where the flowers will bloom.

Praying for Cliff. Doctors and hospitals are scary these days.

  9. Ooh dear Susie, if only I were able to run along a ditch...lol
Your flowers are doing so well, the deer keep eating my hydrangeas, as most everything else.
Sending prayers up for Cliff, and hoping for better days...

  10. You've rekindled the bug in me for taking pictures. Aside from the week vacation I haven't taken any in a long while. Arlene and I used to take trips all over New England.
It's never easy when you have a relative in the hospital. Hoping for a full recovery.

  11. Many years ago I planted some creeing jenny in the back area near the pond we used to have. I didn't know that they would come back but they do year after year. They spread to other areas but I wouldn't say they are hard to control. I about leaped off the deck the other day to chase what looked like a monarch butterly but it just kept fluttering so quickly and then it was gone.
My aunt had the carotid artery operated on and she came out of it really well. She tends to be delicate so I was grateful for the outcome. She had no particular symptoms it was just something they checked and discovered it was quite blocked up. She's 94 now and doing pretty well! Tell hubby to get a move on it!! I hope his brother will make a good recovery.

    1. Liz, I like this creeping jenny, so I think I plant some in the ground to have as filler in my containers next year. :) Nice to know it can come back. So glad to hear the news on your aunt. We have hopes for Clifff...as we visited with his yesterday (Sun. 8-7-2016) his color was good and he was really trying to talk and had to pause to re-think words at times. He's in the therapy unit today. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  12. I'm so sorry to hear about Ted's brother, Cliff. I do hope he gets better with the medication, and that's good news that no surgery was needed.

These are wonderful nature pictures, Susie. I see you are noticing all the flowers and butterflies and birds in your area. I think I'll take another drive in the country soon and spend some much needed time in nature. :)
