I did our mantle in the honeycomb paper trees, snowmen , candles, and the reindeer stocking hangers.
The paper trees are in three different sizes. I kept the tiny lights from the Halloween display.
I found my nativity from years ago. I put it in a little wooden tray. The Angel needs her wing glued back on, it was the only thing broken. I think my daughter Liz gave me this nativity, so long ago, I can't remember. :):)
I like to get all the plaid fleece throws out for winter. Which can make a lot of sparks if the humidifier isn't in use. LOL
I had the Harry Connick Show on the TV. :) Some times when I have the news on, I go about doing chores and completely forget the TV is on. That's a bad habit on my part.
This is a bit of a cardinal collection. That's one of my favorite birds. I have more things decorated....but I did not go all this year. Yesterday, I took some Christmas decorations to my daughter Liz. Told her what she didn't want, give to the children or someone who would want them. I am going to start thinning out things around here. I sure wish I could start with this office. Total mess. I have got to get busy with my Christmas cards now.
Wishing all you a great safe weekend. Please pray for those in the fires of California. XO
I really like the honeycomb figures and they are easy to store, too. Your cardinal collection is really pretty. Our state bird! Everything looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteKaren, I store the honeycomb trees between two pieces of cardboard. :) I know we are in for some cold days. Stay warm, Blessings, xoxo, Susie
Deleteit looks perfect and I love your collection of cardinals,,tv on is good company,, I know its cool these days to say " Oh I hardly ever watch tv " but honestly,, I think most people do have it on,, its company especially if you live alone, have a great day Susie,
ReplyDeleteLaurie, In the evening our TV stays on for the news and then Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. You are right when I am alone at home I have the TV for company. My baby grandsons love watching a movie about a Baby Boss. LOL Stay warm this weekend. Blessings xoxo, Susie
DeleteIt looks great, Susie- Warm and inviting! I love cardinals, too, but only have a couple of them. Like you, I am sorting through things and 'letting go' of lots of extra stuff. It is time. We spent our whole lives accumulating and it is strange now to be letting things go---but it feels good, too.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend. xo Diana
Diana, If I sorted seriously I could be weeks getting things out of the basement. Humans just want to keep too much. We cling to things that will not bring us comfort like the ones that gave us those things. If it's something of my MIL or mommy's I like for my daughters to have it or my grandkids. Blessings to you sweet girl, stay well. xoxo, love, Susie
DeleteEverything looks beautiful Susie! I love your tree! It looks like you're ready for Christmas! :)
ReplyDeletePilar, The forecast showed snow may be coming your way even...yikes, I hope you wear your nice hat you made. My brother in Alabama says he has the only snow shovel in his neighborhood and he was going to let his wife use it. LOL. Blessings for a fun weekend, xoxo, Susie
DeleteAll looks so cozy and inviting, love your mantle decorations !
ReplyDeleteI display our Christmas quilts, just as you do you flannel, it all gives that festive look to your home :)
Stay warm Susie, it's starting to get cold here, and maybe a snowflake or two today :)
Hugs,
~Jo
Jo, We will be using our warm throws, since it's to snow here. We have had fires in the fireplace for about a 3 weeks. Ted loves, burning wood and saving money...that's what he calls it. LOL Enjoy your weekend , blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteOh sue ~ your home looks so lovely and comfy and inviting. I love your little nativity. I collect them, and this year have my Willow Tree set out on the coffee tree. Your tree is beautiful too. I miss not having a mantel to decorate. In our old Parsonage, I had a huge county kitchen with a fireplace. It was my favorite place to decorate for all the seasons. Blessing and Joy!!
ReplyDeleteI meant to say my "Coffee Table" not "tree". HaHa. My fingers were working faster than my brain.
ReplyDeleteWanda, My typing is awful at times. and I mostly just use two fingers.:):) Growing up in later years at mommy's, we always had a small tree. I gave my big tree to my daughter, to keep them from using real trees. So this skinny tree is just right for us. I have some willow things, I would love to see your nativity . I have a couple things in each room. Tried not to get everything out . I think I am going to try to thin out lots of decorations. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteLove your mantel and fireplace..Looks beautiful..
ReplyDeleteThank you Missy, I am slower about decorating, but I have to do it....I remember the days when we had little and longed to decorate...back when I was a child. Blessings to you for a fun weekend, xoxo, Susie
DeleteGosh have not seen honeycombs like that. They look so nice. We have warm blankets out now too. Janice
ReplyDeleteJanice, I think we are going to be wrapped up in our warm throws and blankets , as snow is arriving. The shocker today is my brother in Alabama has snow and we here in Indiana will get ours today. Stay warm, blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI wish I had a mantle to decorate. Yours is so pretty and I love the honeycomb trees. I have never seen them before. Also, your nativity is unique! I love the color of it too. You have interesting decorations. I could be here a while looking at all your things. I notice a teakettle on the fireplace. I love that! Everything looks warm and cozy for the cold evenings ahead. Take care! Hugs, Cheryl
ReplyDeleteCher, the Nativity figures are all children. The teakettle helps put moisture in the air, so it's helpful too. We are going to be needing our warm throws, as snow is predicted for our weekend. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteIt all looks SO warm and cozy and inviting! I really love the plaid throws you put on the sofa - really adds a nice touch to the room. Beautiful tree and manger scene as well!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lauren. We used those throws yesterday...it was cold here. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSusie, everything looks so cheerful, I just want to sit in that rocking chair with a blanket and visit with you. Sweet nativity. I have to pull out the glue every year to fix something. I have a few strings of those led tiny lights and I just love them. They light up places where there is no outlet. I am still working on Christmas cards.
ReplyDeleteNonnie, After I did our tree and have watched half of each strand of lights burn out. I will be hitting the after Christmas sales for new lights. LOL. I hope to get my cards out this week. I am so far behind. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteYour home looks so festive and cozy. Karen loves those honeycomb decorations, too. She had a few for Thanksgiving. We don't decorate any more; just too hard on us physically. We are staying in today and have soup in the crockpot. Have a nice afternoon. xo
ReplyDeleteMildred, I do not do any lighted things outside any more. I mostly do a winter theme. Crock pot cooking is my favorite kind. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteOh Susie....can I come over for a cup of hot cocoa? Everything looks so sweet and festive! I just love it all!!!!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, I would be honored if you came to have some cocoa. I have gone from a tradition style of decorating when I lived in town...to country farm house. I am trying to minimalize too. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI enjoyed seeing all your Christmas decorations. Susie, your home looks charming and festive for the season, and I especially like your fireplace mantel. The cardinal section caught my eye right away, as I love the red cardinal. Your tree is pretty with lots of RED - I love RED at Christmas. And the nativity set goes perfect in that wooden tray.
ReplyDeleteThe fires in California concern me too, Susie. I am on the other side of the state, northern California, but we have loved ones in So Cal that aren't too far from them. It has been a crazy year for fires in our state. Thank you so much for your prayers, Susie.
love, ~Sheri
Oh Linda, your home is beautiful !! And so festive. I did the thinning out a few years ago.. it is a good idea!
ReplyDeleteBlessings. Gert
