Friends, Family & Flowers....

Today was classmate brunch day. We met the second Monday of the month.  Patty and I were first there.
Nine women and one man. LOL. I think Jim loves being with all of us women.
Yesterday, I ran into a man that once was my little neighbor boy.  Darrin is a sweetheart. Married with two girls of his own.  He said my daughters were his sisters that his parents never had. LOL
My granddaughter lYnzie and her husband Mark brought their boys over yesterday morning.
I had a blanket down for the boys to play on and they kept tripping...so we folded that up and just played on the bare floors.  Thank goodness Lynzie brought some of the boys' toys with her.
Max was being a monkey....so full of energy. Oh how I wish I had a smidgen of it.
Luke walked with me but just did not want to let go of my hand....not that I minded that at all. Got to walk him and hold him. Lots of laughs, hugs and kisses.  They were all on their way to the Tipton Park for a  reunion of  Lynzie's  other grandmother's family. We were thankful they stopped by to spend time with us. So sweet.
My gardening daughter Karen, sent me photos of all her different sunflowers.  I told her to save me some seeds from them. Pale yellow with green inside.
 Pale yellow and brown seeds.
Bright summer yellow , which is how I always thought sunflowers grew.
She also had some red ones...so unusual. I have seen her grow small red ones before but never any tall ones like this.
Such a pretty color. I would love to grow some of these next year. :):)
I had a wonderful weekend. Seeing family and the neighbor kid from long ago.  Today started out great too. Well for me. Once I got home from the brunch, I found Ted in the shop. He had been splitting wood and broke the back stop almost entirely off the splitter. So he is cleaning it all up....he will be taking it to his brother's wielding shop to get it fixed. I am so glad that Ted and his brother Mic can work well together and help one another. Always nice to be able to count on family.
Wishing all of you a sweet week. XO

  1. What fun you had with those kiddos and walking with little Luke. I've never, ever seen a red sunflower before. My classmates get together each month. I would love to be able to join them sometime.
How fun to see the little neighbor boy. Funny how they all grow up!

    1. Nonnie, I had such an enjoyable time yesterday and today. Happy memories. Our classmates have lots of aches and pains and we do laugh about it. But we are still tough old birds , as my mother would say. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  2. At that age, boys think hardwood floors feel like the most comfortable thing ever. So did my dog as I'd often catch her snoozing on the floor...right next to the pet bed.

    1. Hi Adam, Thank you for visiting. My granddaughter's dog will stretch out on the cement garage floors when it's hot out. I think it is cooler for her. Baby Luke soon learned he could send playing cards sailing under things on the hardwood floor. I found those cards everywhere. LOL. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  10. I love all of your family photos and your classmates. My 50 year reunion is this year and I'm getting more emails and updates on it. I won't get to go and I hate it! I grew up in a small town and loved all my friends. Enjoy your day!

    1. Diane, I forgot you grew up in a different area. Too bad you can not go to the reunion. You know some classmates never change and so are very changed. Our town is about 5, 500. There's a boy explosion in our town. In the four 5th grades...the boys outnumber the girls. Angie has 16 boys and 6 girls in her class. Totally off balance. LOL But then look at our brunch gatherings 10 or more ladies and Jim. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Susie, I have prayed for you this week. I told my daughter about your thyroid..as my twins have theirs removed and the other two daughters have been checked. Now their cousin had nodules on hers and my daughter told her do follow ups. We love our family, don't we? Every time I can hold the little ones and get hugs makes me happy for days. I told Karen to save those seeds from the sunflowers, I want to try to grow some next year. :):) Blessings to you my dear friend, love you, xoxo, Susie

    1. Gert, I do enjoy being with the little fellows as often as I can. I was so happy when they cam by for a couple hours. It's exhausting for Lynzie and the boys get worn out and bit cranky if they can get naps. I laugh about how much stuff parent carry around these days. I used to get a grocery sack and throw some diapers and bottles in it and that would be my diaper bag. LOL.Hope you are doing well and getting to enjoy summer. It has been the hottest I can remember. Blessings to you sweet friend, xoxo, love Susie

  14. That brunch looks like a blast! A great time for all. I am on my way to get RED SUNFLOWER SEEDS at the store tomorrow!! with our long grow season here, I may still be able to get some to grow before winter!! I just fell in love with that picture of the sunflower, that is so beautiful. I am also sowing my last batch of flower seeds this week, for things that will bloom through November here. Are you having a good week?

    1. Debbi, I am hoping your sunflowers will grow and you can post some pictures. :) I am hoping we have a long fall season here...as it has been hard to get out and enjoy this summer. It's way to hot for me. Walking early in the mornings or late at night is what my sisters in town do. I try to make sure the plants are watered and Ted mows, we both whack or pull weeds. That's been about it outdoors for us. Blessings to you , xoxo, Susie

    1. Jeanie, I called the neighbors yesterday. They were already on the road to take their son 3 hours away to college. I could not help but tear up, I want to tell him good bye and much good luck in school. His mom said she certainly would hug him for us. He was 4 when we moved here...so that is another little guy grown up . I have been blessed with nice neighbors. Oh I need to see if my daughter saved me those sunflower seeds. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  20. My goodness, Susie, you do not look old enough to be a great grandmother! Not at all! It's so nice that Lynzie and Mark brought the boys to see you. The photo of you on the floor with the kiddos is very sweet. The sunflowers are stunning, especially the red one. I love it! Lunch with friends is always uplifting, and running into an old friend and catching up on life is icing on the cake. So glad you had so many positive things to share. Hugs.
