Sunshine & Harvest.....

This is just last week, the soybeans look so pretty. The sky was blue and the temperatures were in the 70-80's.
This is how soybeans look when ready for harvest.
The field across from our house. I thought it was getting harvested two weeks ago, but it was the field next to this one.  You can see our courthouse in the center , on the horizon.
Three days ago, the farmer did harvest the beans across from us. He worked into the night, almost midnight. The combine, the wagons, trucks and semi , pulled out at 11:50 pm.  Now I can wash windows.

Doesn't this web with the big spider just make your hair stnd on end? it give me the heebie-geebies.
I spotted this luna moth in town. So pretty.
My orange mums are blooming.  They really are brighter than they look in this photo.
The clump of grass at the shop is looking pretty.
Time to put the scarecrows out and maybe give them a bit of shine up.  I think they need new hair (raffia) and just maybe brighter hats. :):)
Hope all of you are having cooler temperatures. Ours have been up and down...even though the weather forecaster predicted 8 days of 80's.  There was a slight cool down after the rains.  The rain was so hard and heavy at one time, I thought, hey I may not have to wash the windows. LOL
Wishing all a beautiful weekend. Be safe. XO

  2. I said it before and I'll say it again, we do live in very different areas. It looks so peaceful compared to the lunacy around here. Many out of state plates as the students are back in the area especially near Tufts. Very nice photos.

    1. Boston Boy, When I was younger , the more traffic, noise, activities the better...because it meant people were going places and doing things...now that I am older, I have learned to love the quiet. Also I can absolutely do without all the traffic. :):) Seems those mapping out roads want us all flying down 20 lane highways. Totally crazy. I think you may remember this...Sunday drives with your parents?? Where you could rive in perfect peace and enjoy the scenery. Oh those good old days. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  3. Oh and I never seen a moth like that. At first glance I thought it said a tuna moth. I should always wear my glasses.

    1. Paul, that cracks me up. My oldest daughter will squeeze her eyes almost shut before she will put her reading glasses on. I told it won't be the glasses that make her look older it will be all those lines from squinting. LOL xoxo, Susie

  4. The temperatures here are still in the 80s and I am loving every minute of it. Next week is supposed to be the last of our summer weather, though, and colder temperatures are coming in. *sigh* I can't imagine living in the country. I don't think I could sleep without the sound of traffic and buses going by outside of my house. I love your scarecrows. I really must get mine out. I've done nothing in the way of decoration for fall.

    1. Kathy, You bought a new pumpkin :) I wish we lived closer, I'd love to shop with you...you seem good at finding deals. Today I went to Goodwiil and got basket and a bundt cake pan one dollar each...it was half off Saturday. Ted got a haul of candles to use when making his fire starters for us, family and friends. They all love them now. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  6. ewww...when I see spiders, I run the other way. A few years back, one bit me under one eye and the next morning, Mr. Sweet said what's wrong with your eye...I looked in the mirror and had a black eye...it was a beaut.....lol

    1. Thank you Debbi. I heard it was humid in your area. I worry about the mosquitoes after all rain and the flooding that way. I know you are ready for cooler days. I love when it's 65-70...that is perfect to me. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

    1. Adam, When the soybeans get harvested, the stems and leaves turn to dust. That's a dirty job. Well the farmers have enclosed air conditioned vehicles now. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  9. All these years and I never knew that the corn is ready to harvest when the ears are hanging down! A farmer who works with My Shug told him that so we’ve been looking at all the corn and it’s true! We still have the air on because of all of the humidity and we usually hav ether heat on by now. Not that I’m in any hurry!

    1. Cindy, I only found out about the corn ears drooping down, since I have lived here. Some fields the corn on the outer row is hanging down in a perfect stripe . I am so ready to turn the AC off for good...but will probably have the heat on as soon as that happens. No rest on using power. But we will burn some fires in the fireplace . That helps with our power bills. Hope you and Suge are doing well. Our pretty summer is gone, but the heat stayed behind. LOL. I hope we have an Indian Summer in Nov. :):) Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  11. The spider, ewww!! That makes my skin crawl. Love seeing a Luna moth though. We don't see farm fields right next to us since we moved 4 years ago. It was often the corn harvest that would keep me awake at night! Oh the rumble and noise of tractors and trucks. Can't say I miss it!
Hope you are having a pleasant Sunday!

  13. Oh, I love Mums this time of year, Susie. They look kind of red on the screen. That is a cool picture of the spider web and moth. I love seeing all the corn fields and harvesting in your area. I appreciate the farmers so much. It's nice that it's so close to where you live and you can see what's happening. I'm glad you are having cooler weather now. It looks like Autumn has arrived there, Susie.

    1. Sheri, I swear our weather patterns the past three years are all over the places. We were to have 8 days of 80's...after three it rained and it cooled some, now it's back up , but by the weekend, it make get down to the 60's. Isn't that just nuts? LOL I always like the lavender colors mums and the white. But the white turns too quickly for me. I got tow orange colored mums when the young boy next door was selling them for his Alpha class to go on a trip. Now that young man drove off to college this year and I cried. I miss seeing him. Our lives touch so many others. Blessings, xoxo, love you, Susie

  14. Love the pictures and that soybean field is beautiful to me! Loving your orange mums too. I in need of taking the time to pull out more Fall and decorate some but just haven't done it. When I have had the time just didn't feel like it. Might have something to do with TEMPS! Which by the way are in the 80's now! LOL! I love scarecrows too. I finally tossed a lot of them last year because they had torn, shredded, and well, was time to share then with a nice lady that just happened to stop at the county dump about the time my husband did to unload them and asked if she could have them. I do love it when another's junk becomes another's treasure. Have a good week dear lady. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  16. I love seeing all the harvesting done in the fall. Your blue skies look wonderful. We've had rain or clouds and cool temps for about two weeks. Supposed to get to 28°F on Friday. Lovely photos, Susie. I wish I had an elf (fairy or whatever is best at washing windows) to wash my windows. I hate that job. Lol.
