Pictures Of Horton's .......

Horton's is getting ready for the Autumn Market. It will be on the 28th on September. I love this white pumpkin made of cloth with lace leaves. The burlap sunflowers were unusual and so pretty.

 I saw a lot of straw owls...so that must be the new fall craze. I am thinking of getting at least one. There were some wreaths with owls on them. I thought if I added one to my fall wreath , it would be  up dated. Isn't this owl in the wire cloche adorable? There's so much to see at Horton's.

 This big urn is decorated for every season, as Horton's have their markets. As you can see , here's another owl. Looks good with the flowers, orange and burlap materials.

I have to say this little black owl sitting on the typewriter was my favorite. There were two little black owl pictures too. I really need one of these old typewriters. Sitting on a computer  keyboard just would not have the same effect.:):)
  This is about Horton's in Tipton, Indiana...it is family owned, by the Horton family. This is a hardward store basically. They sell paint, custom made blinds, nuts, bolts, screws,and many other items. They have a greenhouse and sell plants and flowers also. I think they have these markets 2-4 times a year, depending. I know they have the French Flea and the Autumn markets. But I think they also have a Christmas market.
 If you ever get the chance to travel to Tipton, you need to visit. The Horton's are a beautiful kind family. xoxo

A Fun Weekend...

 I had a great weekend. Most of it. Here's the clock tower of our courthouse, blocking the sun, so I had some shade for a bit.  My daughter's and granddaughter got ice cream and we sat near the courthouse so they could enjoy it. I was going to get an ice cream that was hand  scooped...omg...little did I know , the person scooping was taking that phrase to heart. As I asked how much, he turned just enough, that I saw him putting a scoop of ice cream in the cone with his bare hand. Yes, I was grossed out. I said, "  I saw you use your bare hand and I do not want your ice cream." So we all walked away. The girls got ice cream at another booth, but I was out of the mood.:):)

Here's two of my daughters and a granddaughter posing in front of the mums and pumpkins at Horton's. I have the best times when I am with my girls. Lynzie , in the middle, has to get a photo sitting on my lap...so she can send to her cousin Jake, saying that she is my favorite grandchild. They love teasing each other like that. When Jake and Lynzie were small they would get mad at each other if one were to sit next to me. Now they laugh about that. I hope all of you had a nice weekend too. xo

Dish Sets....

 While at the festival, went into the junk shop yesterday. Here was a beautiful set of china, 67 pieces for $398.00 . I am so sorry I didn't write down the names of all this china, and I can't remember them.

 This set was more economical...7O some pieces for 75 dollars. Very pale blue flowers on them, trimmed in silver. I swear if I had the room for these, they would be mine today !!

Here's a happy set. Well it seems like it's what would make some people happy. I like the flowers, so bright and pretty. I do not know the price, couldn't be much , as it was an incomplete set. I am tempted to go back and get some of these dishes and give my old sets away. Would that be crazy? If I do this I will let you know. LOL.
 Today Ted is working on his wood pile...that's what I need a photo of, how big it's getting to be. Oh by the way, I'll be posting photos of Hortons soon. I also went in there yesterday and got some photos. I know lots of you love their displays...they are having their Autumn Market on the 28th of this month.:):)

Pork Festival....

 Tipton county has a pork festival every year on the 1st weekend , after labor day. Here's my little pig pins, that I wear to the festival. All my girls have some pins also.

 We had pulled pork b-b-q sandwiches today.  They were very good. Here is sweet Lynzie enjoying her lunch. She came to town with her mommy Lizzy. They met up with Angie and I , this morning.

This big food tent is where they serve the pork chops, from pigs raised in Tipton. We got the b-b-q at the Lion's Club tent. They were serving these  and pork on a stick. The usual fair food was also being served through the fair. Lemon shake-ups, corn-on-the- cob. Elephant ears, ice cream,strawberry shortcakes.

 This is the official t-shirts they are selling this year. I couldn't resist buying one . Emma will probably end up wearing it to sleep in. She calls them big relaxing shirts. LOL.

This is the back of the shirt...too cute. Just the perfect shirt for a pork fest. Tomorrow there will be a parade at 1:00 . There will be marching bands. Later there will be staged performances. I will not be going back tomorrow...my feet hurt from standing and walking around.
   Hope all of you had a good day . I am doing well after my dental visit. I think my gum is healing with the implant very well. But I am getting hungry, I have had yogurt, oat meal, baked potato, jello, puddings and soft bread with peanut butter. I am ready for some salad. xo

Beautiful Weekend...

We had a beautiful and quiet weekend around here. The skies could not have been any prettier. It was plenty warm, not sweltering at least.  We had no where to go or to be, so it was calm..

 I did go to  the cemetery, and clean off some family graves. I put some new flowers on them. Peaceful.

Ted did mow yesterday morning. I have done chores to be caught up for these next few days. This will be a busy week starting tomorrow. I have my dental  implant tomorrow. Liz and her husband will be here Thursday for a visit. Then Friday, I am meeting up with my daughter Angie. We will spend the day at the Pork Festival, looking at all the booths. Eating some junk stuff...taco in a bag, cinnamon rolls. We always looked forward to the art tent. There was an article in the paper saying , no art tent this year. I am disappointed. It has been wonderful seeing how very talented the children of our community are.  For those of you who returned to work today, bless you. xo

Labor Day Holiday....

 Today we are celebrating Labor Day. Wow, I remember when I worked how exciting a three day weekend would be. All you hard working people know what I mean. Some times we just need a break.

Even if you do not work, you may need a break from those everyday routines. Oh boy do I feel that way.    The month of September has lots of festivals around Indiana.  My hometown of Tipton, In. will be hosting the pork festival starting this Thursday, going through Saturday night. Fairmount has James Dean festival. Atlanta, In . will have the Earth Day Festival. Nappenee, In. has an apple festival coming up. We have a blueberry festival, but I am not sure what town that is near. In October there will be the Covered Bridge Festival in Parke county. We don't make all the festivals. I meet my daughter Angie,for the pork festival one day. Then all my daughters, Angie, Kathy, Karen , and Lizzy, and I try to go to the Earth festival, together.
  I hope all workers have had a nice weekend so far. Well even us non workers...Oh face it who ever heard of a non working  woman ?LOL....Blessings to all of us. xo

A Little Rain...

We finally got a bit of rain yesterday. Near 1/2 inch. That's not enough , but we welcome it. The weatherman this morning said, don't be looking for any more rain for some time to come.  That means we have to water the plants and flowers for another week. I better make up some fertilizer to help .
It's been a lazy weekend so far. Not anything going on for us. The coming week will be very busy. Hope all of you are enjoying your time and families. Blessings to all. xo
