Ellis Island....

This is on Ellis island, where immigrants entered the U.S. till 1954. One lady in our group found her grandfather's name on the Wall of Honor. she knew the date he entered .
This is the view of NYC , from Ellis island. I think the U.S. park's department takes care of everything . They are in the process of repairing things all the time. I am pretty sure it's lack of funds, that some of the buildings were closed off to the public.
Over one hundred million Americans had ancestors who came through Ellis Island.
This is the view of Ellis island from my seat on the harbor cruise. It was lightly raining, so I took this photo from the inside. Honestly this is an interesting historical place, Ellis island. Go to visit if you ever get a chance.

  2. My husband's father was quarantined in the infirmary for almost two weeks because he had acquired pink eye on the boat during is travel across the Atlantic. He was 19. His older sister sponsored him and had arranged for a job for him. Emigration was more orderly careful than it is today.
