Good-bye To A Dear Lady......

Yesterday, we attended the funeral of a sweet lady. She was a beauty. Loved being dressed up and having her hair just so. We used to live across the street from Helen , when we lived in town. She and her husband have been married over 45 years. He was her care giver for the past two years. She has been on oxygen for those two years. I really never knew what was wrong. I know she just one day could not breathe, went to the hospital and then onto oxygen. I do know she smoked. So maybe that lead to  the problem.
I loved these neighbors. You always knew they loved each other. Never any harsh words between them, that I ever heard. They were a joy to meet out anywhere. Or just stand at the edge of our yard and have a conversation. I have stayed in touch with them since we moved, by sending cards and notes. I know that Helen's husband will be fine, as he will spend time with his son and g.daughters. I will still send cards, because Leroy's sister ask me to please remember him.
Have you ever had neighbor's you truly adored?  Believe me Helen and Leroy are absolutely the kind of neighbor's  that we all want. Kind to their family and everyone they met. I will miss Helen.
Let's keep those in the path of the fierce winter storm in our prayers. Enjoy this day. xo

Hoping the storm fizzles out some and it's not as bad as predicted.

  7. Yes I have had neighbors that I adored and loved. Jean was one of those neighbors. She passed at age 92. On her couch, in her last month of life she told my Shug, "I just love it when I hear your motorcycle start up in the morning. It means it's gonna be a good day." She was talking about the weather. She also used to call me and ask if I was going to be making cookies anytime soon. She loved my cookies. She lived right next door and told us she would never have been able to stay in her home if we hadn't moved in next door. We would make sure we saw her light on at night, we would take dinner over to her (I made extra for her) and she would pay us to keep her yard mowed and snow removed. No one could do it as well as my Shug. I will always love and miss her.

  8. My treasured neighbor growing up was Lola, she was more like a Grandmother to my brother and I and a mother to my Mom. How my life was better for having her in it. I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved friend.

  11. I'm so sorry that you lost such a wonderful person in your life. She sounds like she was a great wife and neighbor. 45 years of marriage...that's awesome. Again, so sorry.

I was friends with an elderly widower on my block for about three years before he died. We had lunch every Thursday, rain or shine. As friends, we gave each other so much. I will always miss him and treasure our long conversations and what I learned from this wise old man. People come and go, but some stay in your heart forever.

    XO,
    Jane
