Teacher's Santas....

My daughter Angie is a teacher. Every year at Christmas time she gets gifts from some of the children.  From cards, to treasures. I know she has let her nieces go  through her collection of santas and snowmen.  She puts all the small santas on this desk shelf. For many years, she would put the name of the child that gave her something on the bottom of the gift. She always thanks them. But after so many years of teaching and collecting, she doesn't have the room she once had. Plus she is in a new home that is smaller than the one she raised her children in.
I remember making drawings for my teachers for Christmas. They did thank me, which filled my heart with joy. I think all children want the acceptance of their teachers.
I still get to see a couple of my teachers, Mr. Taylor(math) and Mr. Clossin(history). They were fresh out of college when they came to our area.  We treated all teachers  with respect , even if they were not our favorites. But I just happened to like every teacher I had. This is for all you teachers, working or retired, thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. xo

  1. What a sweet post. My daughter in law is a teacher and they really do work hard and have lots of patience. I'd like to say thanks, too! Happy weekend my friend!

  2. A wonderful post Susie. Teachers are underpaid, overworked and truly loved.

  3. Thank you, Susie. I am a retired elementary teacher. I retired ten years ago. There are many memories that I carry with me. xo Nellie

  4. Neat collection of Santa's. Not sure I was one of those kids that gave her teacher a gift at Christmas. I did have a favorite teacher though...Mrs. Booth, my 4th grade teacher. Not sure what she did special, but she is the only one I remember. I think she saw the artist in me and inspired me to continue on.

  5. So precious. I have a friend/teacher and she knows who gave her every ornament over 35 years of teaching Sunday School and public and private schools. She remembers the ornaments my kids gave her and I don't:)

    Sweet post.

  7. A great tribute to all teachers. I think they deserve so much more than they get. The little gifts from the kids are always from the heart. As a pre-school teacher I loved them all. Hats off to all teachers. That is if I had a hat.

  9. How sweet that she puts the name on the bottom! A couple of years ago we made chalkboards for the teachers. Recently my daughters former preschool teacher told me she still has it hanging with my daughters little hand written note on it. It warmed my heart. Teachers are a gift!!

  11. This is such a nice post and somehow I missed it. You are so sweet to remember teachers. They are working in a different world than the one we grew up in! I did not like all of my teachers, but I certainly DID RESPECT them!
