Our Birthday Girl....

This is a picture of Emma when she was about 3.  Breaks my heart how quickly that time went by. She has a birthday , and is now eleven. In the blink of an eye, our little granddaughter is growing up.  I called her last night. Papaw tried to lure her over with the promise of "peanuts"  She says papaw always has plenty of peanuts.  I have heard her call give him the dickens for buying any kind but Planter's. LOL.
Emma has been a true blessing in our family.  She's smart and funny. She loves pets. She told me on Easter Sunday that the new member in our family, Layla Rose, was stealing some of her attention.  I asked Emma if she gave the baby attention and she says , of course .  I told her babies do need a lot of attention, so it is good that we all love on the baby and care for her. She's already saying, "when Layla is my age, I'll be 21. "  Oh my goodness, please don't tell me that. She is growing fast enough. :):)
We had some storms again in the wee hours of the morning. Lost power, for the third time in two days. That is getting to be a big bother. But I know that we were fortunate. Prayers for all that had tornadoes, and severe storms. Thinking of you today. XO

    1. I tell young parents to try and enjoy every day with the kids while they are small...one day they are grown and you are left wondering when did that happen. :) Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  2. I know, I hate the fact that the grands grow up so fast....I want to keep them at the 3-4 year old age. We had thunderstorms too, my daughter had thunderstorms & snow. Now the sun is trying to peak out...but it is still cold. if we see the mid 50's I will be ecstatic!!!

    1. Linda, Nana Diana said she may be driving into snow on her day trip. Oh no, not now...I am so ready for the goodness of spring and summer. I wish we could time travel , sometimes. I would surely go back to my own daughters' childhood. You know for one more hug from those skinny little kid arms. Blessings to you Linda, hope your weekend is a fun time. xoxo,Susie

    1. Nellie, It was hard to tell at times. No power for a while in the night. I tried to really pay attention when it was time for bed. It was high winds and lightening that woke me up...I realized the power was out. I was so thankful , the power was restored before the big heavy rain came through. Today is beautiful right now, it's 3:30 pm. But the wind is about 30 mile and hour gust...it was around 40 this morning. I think our weekend is to be nice. I love this picture of Emma in her back yard. The lilies are taller than her then. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    2. I want to keep them little too, but it seems at every stage I wouldn't want to change them. That is the sweetest photo. I hope you have it framed.
Our youngest grandson is about to turn four. He loves to tease his mom and me with, "I'm growing older." And then we cry. Your granddaughter Emma is pretty.

    3. Nonnie, I can barely stand the thought of our Emma being eleven today...I would be so sad for her to 21. I want enjoy every year of my life with my family near me. When grandkids grow up, they some times move to different town and states. That is cute what your little grandson says...but I know that I never want you to grow up and go away feeling. Bless dear one., xoxo,Susie

    1. Mildred. I do love that photo of Emma in the lilies. She wasn't much older than that when she came to stay with us for the first time. Oh I miss her sweet little hugs and kisses. Yes, I am thankful her turning 21 is a good ten years away. I want to hold on as long as I can. Blessings for a great weekend. xoxo,Susie

  5. Hi Susie, I took our oldest granddaughter out today for her birthday-we went shopping for a new outfit and accessories. It was such fun. How they mature so quickly. She is ten but seems more like 14.
I heard about the tornadoes and storms-be safe dear friend.

Happy Birthday to Emma. We had some pretty rough storms up our way in Illinois. Lucky for us the tornadoes were north of us. Just feel so bad for those in the small towns that has so much devastation. Have a good week end.
