Yard Sticks.....

Not for measuring. LOL. I just find sticks in the yard for decorating.
Paint them , any color you like.  I did a white base coat on all of these.
I painted one burgundy and one orange for this container.
Three white ones for this big container, that has white pansies and a rabbit. I just think it gives a little character to the containers..to add the sticks , or figurines, or even these little solar lights. I did see where Walmart and Meijers are putting out their plants. But I have not had a chance to look at them. Also this weekend Horton's is getting in there annuls and hanging plants. So I may just go there tomorrow and check them out.
Today was so pretty and not windy for a change.  Warm enough to not wear a big coat or jacket. I do wear sweaters, possibly longer than most people would .  Hope all of you had a fun day. XO

  2. Susie, I'm happy to hear that Spring has arrived for you! I love what you've done with the "yard sticks." Mama had the little lighted ceramic Christmas village houses and we would collect yard sticks and paint them to look like snow for the village! Hope you get to look for flowers this weekend!

    1. Gert, Those are pansies that I just put out on Tuesday. I like the sticks. Some times Emma and I have painted bigger sticks to be garden snakes. She loved making them striped and polka dotted. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  5. I love your painted sticks! I am so going to try this this year! Lord knows I have plenty to choose from, if we haven't burnt the best ones yet! It was a nice warm and sunny say with no wind. Got another nice day tomorrow and then rain on Sunday and going back to highs at 60-61 for the rest of the 10 day forecast. I just got in from cleaning out the shed bed- DH is in bed already, really not feeling good and most of the day has been a down day for me, too. Sore from raking...and I love sweaters and hoodies!

  6. What a fun idea to paint the sticks! I always wanted to do that with curly willow. I might have to add glitter to the branches:) In the low 70's here today, it was heavenly!

    1. Donna, You will have the glitteriest containers. I like that idea too. With these sticks , it just take a bit of paint...who can't find stick in their yard, you know.:):) I'll post about the big painted sticks that Emma and I turn into garden snakes. xoxo,Susie

  7. I do that, too, Susie-with the sticks but I have never spray painted them. That is a really good idea and they sure stand out more than plain old wooden sticks.

Can't wait to see everything blooming there. Have a great night- xo Diana

    1. Diana, I also save all my scotch pine cones for decorating. When I was a poor kid growing up, I never thought of using old coffee cans for plants or rocks to line gardens. Now there's no reason to throw everything away..we can re-use so much. Blessings for a great weekend, xoxo,Susie

  13. Well I saw some sticks in action yesterday (Sunday) as we attended a dog park and watched the dogs play keep away with sticks. Quite amusing. It was a nice day. not so much today as it is cool and rainy.
