Work & Fun....

This is the fun part. I finally caught a shot of one of the hummingbirds. Not a great shot, but you can see it's a hummer.
Painted the mailbox today.  Really need a new one, but maybe this paint job will make this one last another year.  Our neighbor who is a farmer, even thinks the farmer who farms this field across from us , is being lazy about mowing his ditches. :):)
While painting , I also touched up a few other things I had used the same paint on last year.  Everything is in the driveway , still. Waiting to stain the deck. Surely Teddy Bear and I can get it done on Monday.
Thought these mums look so pretty had to get a picture of them  Mums come in such pretty colors, don't you think they should have a pretty smell also. ??
Plus the marigolds. I always thought bugs hated them....well not those nasty Japanese beetles. I saw some on this bunch of marigolds yesterday. I just flip them into oblivion I hope. LOL.
Hope all of you are enjoying this great day and that the rest of  your  weekend will be filled with fun. XO

  2. The Hummingbird picture is neat...it's hard to catch those little birds in flight !
Pretty flowers, we seem to be at the end of the summer flowers right now, and moving to the yellows and orange ones.
Good job on the painting, all new again.

  3. Love hummingbirds they are such sweet creatures. I have a couple that come on the deck for all the pink flowers they love them. I do not even have to put feeders out they love the pink petunias and pink ivy geraniums. They are fun to watch.

    1. Hi Judy, I can remember my mom sitting out here and watching the hummingbirds and she was just in awe of their size...saying I do not know how they can fly so fast. LOL. Paint is the cheapest make-over tool. LOL. Blessings, hope you are enjoying your new sunroom. xoxo,Susie

    1. Laurie, I would rather be painting like you....not so much this outside stuff. LOL. I have always been told that marigolds keep the bugs away...Tete says otherwise and I think she's a great gardener, she would know. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  8. Looks like you are getting stuff done! Love the photos. Has anyone stopped to see if you were having a garage sale with everything out in the drive???? LOL- Marigolds keep skeeters away, but other bugs will get on them. We have not had one Japanese Beetle this year! We used to have hundreds on the hydrangea and rose of sharon. I zip lock bagged them, stomped on it and threw it in the trash.

    1. Tete, I was laughing at the end of your comment. No one has stopped about a yard sale yet. But that reminds me of a time my daughter and I were out looking for sales and ask some people about their stuff and they were cleaning their big shed out. LOL. Not as bad as my sister who went to one and was in someone's garage looking at stuff and waiting to be waited on and realized it was not a sale. No signs anywhere. LOL. Just a junky garage. Hope you are having a sunny day. It's going to be super hot here for a few days We had rain in the wee hours. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  11. Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your comment about my photo. Those little hummers are so hard to photograph. I think I took 6 or 8 pictures to get that one. The one you have is great. I can't seem to attract them with feeders...just with plants.

  13. Love the hummingbird shot! Just as I commented on another persons blog who lives in a rural part of Pennsylvania, I am really tiring of living in a busy congested area, particularly after this week.
    Love the rural setting.

    1. Boston Boy, I do not know how you handle the traffic on an everyday basis. I whine if the traffic in our town gets heavy...which would be like one of your parking lots., car count.LOL. Maybe one day you can get to the edge of the over populated parts. Let me know if you move to the vineyard....and save a room to rent to visitors. LOL Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  15. That is actually a pretty good picture of the hummer, it's a perfect silhouette! I like your country mailbox, ours are all just black metal standard boxes that are all faded from the sun. I hope to, at least, paint my this fall. Have a wonderful Sunday! Blessings, Cindy

    1. Cindy, our area has some of the tan or green mailboxes that are plastic...ours has a wood surround and that's what I painted. Some places sell little wrap around kits to change your mailbox up. Hope you are doing well. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
