Blooms and Birds....

This is for Claudia @ mockingbird hill. My catalpa tree finally bloomed. There was no sun when I took these pictures. It should be coming out soon. The blooms do not last long enough. It will look like it snowed when they fall off the tree.
Here's the top . I love the big leaves of this tree, the blossoms, and the shade. I just hate the pods that fall off through the year.
The golden finches were feeding yesterday. You can see it's the males. There is usually a bird on each perch. We have a feeder in the backyard also.
Thanks to everyone who commented yesterday on my post, I truly enjoyed  each one. Wishing everyone a wonderful week. We are to have more rain , on and off.   xo

  1. Isn't it fun when the goldfinches are at the feeder! I have thistle seed out for them and for the indigo buntings, but haven't seen one of those yet.

  3. Look at all of your beautiful goldfinches! Not as many in our feeders now...they've all flown to your house! And we had a tree like this in our yard when I was a kid. They can get some kind of fat caterpillar on them that my cousin used to pick off to take fishing! haha! Summer memories! Hugs!

    1. I have heard of those caterpillars...but I have never seen any on this tree. I am not sure if this tree is male or female..I am thinking male with the pods, so then the caterpillar must get on the female tree. Do you ever go fishing? xoxo,Susie

  4. Oh, I love that big old tree! What are feeding to get the finches in? They are so pretty! We ended up with 2.8 inches of rain in the last few days, which is helping so much. Some around here got a lot more than that and flooded a bit. We seem ok here. Just the right amount.

    1. We have lots of tall trees around here. But when ever I plant one I always plant a dwarf tree. I am trying to talk my future granddaughter -in-law into making suits for older people, longer legs and more support. LOL. xoxo,Susie

    1. Gert, Get the thistle seed too, that's the finches favorite food. Indigo buntings like it also. If you get an upside down feeder, only finches and indigo buntings can eat from it. LOL. honestly. xoxo,Susie

  9. I remember those trees from living in Kentucky and there are a few around here in Michigan. They make me think of the South.
