Pool Time...

This is our city pool area. There's the big pool and then a baby pool. I love to drive by this pool or walk by and hear all the squeals and laughter.
I made sure my daughters learned to swim while they were young. I brought them to this pool and they received red cross lessons.  It paid off ,  they all swim and their children know how to swim also.  I did not learn to swim till I was 10 years old and I learn at church camp. Some of my brothers and sisters do not know how to swim....that is too scary and crazy in this day and age.
I am asking all of you with young children, please teach them or get them some lessons in swimming. Things can  happen in the blink of an eye. How much money or time is your child worth?
Please do not think of me as insensitive, I just want to make a point with you.  Get your child some swimming lessons.  OK I will get off the soap box.LOL
The sun wants to shine, it is trying but so many clouds. More rain predicted for the next couple of days.  Thank you to everyone who commented yesterday. Nana Diana said that weed was a wild carrot.  :):)

    1. Beth, If you live near a W.M.C.A. , you could get lessons. It might even be fun for you, not scary like when you were a kid.
I am afraid with all this rain we are going to have plenty of mosquitoes this summer. Yikes. xoxo,Susie

    1. Diane, One year all my girls worked the pool. Angie was a life guard, Kathy worked the ticket window, Liz did the concession window, and Karen did the basket window. That was a busy fun summer. xoxo,Susie

  5. Susie,
How good of you that you made sure all your kids took swimming lessons. I did as well, and all my kids are good swimmers. I took lessons also when I was younger and know how to swim, but it seems like forever since I went swimming. I must get back in that water!

    Have a great day, Susie.

    love,

    1. Missy, I love that chlorine smell of the pool. :):) I know that is strange, but it makes me think of my daughters when they were small and going to the pool. Their hair would even smell like it, when they got home. xoxo,Susie

    1. Patty, I think knowing how to swim is important. Today at noon , the news said something about children inhaling water at the pool and they can drown from the water in their lungs, up to 24 hours later. I had never heard this before. Hope you day is a good one, xoxo,Susie

  9. Swimming is an important skill! It saved me from the undertow on day by the ocean. Respect the water.

We had local pools growing up. They are still in operation. Not for me though.

    1. Boston Boy, I would hate to have to swim for my life..i am so out of shape.LOL. Yes, I know what you mean about public pools in some areas. Ours is clean and no baby can be in the pool without a swim diaper...you know to not have yucky poo in the water. I am such a germ-a-phobe now...:):) Are you settling into your 1/2 retirement yet? Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  11. It is good for children to learn to swim. My nieces were two of those children who learned to swim as infants. Now that's wild, but their grandparents had a pool so it seemed prudent.

I also love hearing children having fun at the beach or pool.

And I also agree with you about white vinegar! It's a wonderful household product. I love using it with soda in the drains.

  12. I learned to swim at church camp at the age of 12. I finally got tired of sitting on the side and said, I'm jumping in. If I look like I'm drowning save me. I used to take my children to the city pool just like this. My son learned to swim at the nursery where he stayed and my daughter learned to swim at a friend's house.

  13. Susie- You are SO right about swimming. We made sure all of our kids could swim. I can barely swim...I almost drowned twice as a child so I have a healthy fear of deep water. But our kids and grandkids are all "fish" as is my husband. Me? I like to be ON the water but not IN it...unless it is in the ocean and then I love being IN it! lol

Hope you had a great day. I had a LONG day here- xo Diana

    1. Diana, I just happy our big brothers weren't teaching us, 1/2 of us would have drown. LOL. If you are going to be near water, it is so important that your children learn to swim. Enjoy your day, xoxo,Susie

  14. This is a perfect message especially at this time of year. I live in FLA and hear too often the tragedy that can happen.
I made sure my daughter learned as will my little grandson. Thanks for putting it out there!

  15. We have a pool like that in our little town and I paid for Doug to have swimming lessons, but Craig never needed them. I threw him in the pool when he was just months old. I started working with him floating and being comfortable with water as soon as he was born. I would put him in the bath with me and let him go under so he would remember to hold his breath. When summer came, took him to the pool and threw him in. He swam. Both kids can swim like fish. They do not panic and come straight to the top. They can tread water for hours, float and that made me feel better knowing things could happen anytime, anywhere. Great post.
