This isn't the best picture, but you get the idea. I laughed so hard at Emma chasing this little red hen. She gets the chickens out to roam the yard after she has put the dog up. Sam would love to help her catch them. LOL
Emma asked her mom (Liz) if they were going to eat the chickens when they were older. Liz said she really did not know how to respond. She thought a minute and said, "well maybe" She thought Emma might be up-set about that. But Emma then asked her, "Can you make nuggets with them ?" :):) Kids !!!
Hope you are having a very nice day. I will do making last minute plans. xo
out of the mouths of babes!!!!lol, that is the best picture!!!
ReplyDeleteLaurie, When my daughter told what Emma said, I laughed, I could not help it. Those will be some tough old birds if they out live that chasing. xoxo,Susie
DeleteWhat a fun pic! I remember chasing chickens when I was little, and we had lots of nuggets, too ! LOL
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Patti
Patti, We ate our chicken pets growing up. We would get a free chick from the Hy-Line chicken/egg place for Easter. Each of us. We named them raised them and ate them. A chicken must not be too smart to stick around our house with some many kids chasing them. xoxo,Susie
DeleteI was chicken chasing about a year ago, trying to save our neighbors chickens from a dog. It wasn't funny! I can't run like that anymore!!! I suppose eating nuggets would be like eating Mrs. Paul's fish sticks (remember those-not sure they still sell them). If they don't actually LOOK like chicken.....
ReplyDeleteCindy Bee
Cindy, I remember you chasing those chickens. They sure can run. I used to love fish stick...wonder if it was fish or the bait...we were eating. LOL. xoxo,Susie
DeleteOut of the mouths of babes!
ReplyDeleteWe have many friends whose children raise pigs through 4H and sell them at the fair in the summer. The kids know all along that Roscoe or Fred will be sold or eaten.
Carol, Some kids make good money this way...helps pay for a bit of college. My daughter once went to the farmer where they get there beef, and ask to see what cow was hers...he laughed and said he had never known anyone wanting to see the meat still on the hoof. xoxo,Susie
DeleteLOL- on the chicken nuggets! Emma is so cute and that chicken better run faster! Hope you have a fun weekend. Got blue skies here for a change!
ReplyDeleteTete, It's so pretty and pleasant here right now...oh please let it be this nice tomorrow. LOL I am getting nervous. xoxo,Susie
DeleteHI Susie(:)
ReplyDeleteOH so fun Emma there..
well raining here and its cherry season --not a good combo !!
Hope the cherries don't split.. hugs,Patty
Patty, If you saw Emma running all bent over like that...too funny. I do not know much about cherry other than I like them. My daughter had some trees once and the birds were the worry for her...they would eat them as fast as they ripened. xoxo, Susie
DeleteA moment in time!!

ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Gert
Gert, One of those carrot thingys looks like a Queen Anne's Lace.:):) I am letting them grow just to see. Emma just keeps us happy ...when we get to see her.. time goes too fast.xoxo,Susie
Deletereading this brings b ack memories of being in Italy and watching my aunt go to the chicken coop and select a chicken for dinner, then watching her trying to...uh...usher the chicken into the afterlife and being unsuccessful until my grandfather came along took the chicken and ushered the chicken into it's afterlife tout suite. It was a lot different than going to the meat dep't in your local grocer and picking up a whole roaster. Still tasty though.
ReplyDeleteWe used to watch our parents "wring" the chicken's neck..gross, then the chickens would still flop around with their heads. so scary. I don't Emma would want to see that. Too funny your granddad had to help your aunt, after a failed attempt. Happy Father's Day...not sure you are one but enjoy the great day just the same, xoxo,Susie
Deletehahaha Emma......she's a girl after my own heart. She is certainly a well rounded young lady. Her mom and grandma raised her well. I can just see her running after that red hen.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week, Susie.
love,
~Sheri
MANY, MANY years ago I went to a farm to catch chickens that were to be trucked to a butchering faciltiy....catching them is hard!!!! looks like she had fun tho.
