Here comes the class , all strung out and Mrs. H . bringing up the rear on this last leg of their walk.
Girls all washed up and in line first. They did well washing their hands.
Then the boys in line after washing their hands. They were hungry.
When it was time to eat they all wanted to sit like this,on the driveway to eat.
This is 7 of the girls with braids of some kind in the hair. Seems it's the girls with the shortest hair that want braids. :):) Some of the girls put little ties in the boys hair. I actually did not do any nails. First year ever , that has not happened.
This is the entire class . Angie in the blue with them.
When the children came it was chilly, by the time it was over , the temperatures had warmed a bit. Thank goodness for Mr.Shulenburg , the bus driver.
As the children are driven away in the bus, I look down at their sidewalk art. I feel sad, another group of young kids , on their way to middle school next year. I hope they have good memories of this day.
Hope your day was fun too. XO
So nice to do that for the kids! Memories they will cherish!
ReplyDeleteSylvia, I hope one day in their future they look back on this day and smile. Good kids. Bless you, xoxo,Susie
DeleteI am glad that your day went by helping young people. It is going to be tough in middle school. there are so many changes that they will be dealing with. I wish them all good luck.
ReplyDeleteI sorry that I do not write that much any more. I work at computers all day and when I come home I feel guilty about just sitting at the computer again. I want to spend as much time as I can with the hubby as both of us are aging very fast. I do enjoy reading posts and sometimes I share with him too. There is such a huge bundle of wealth of reading material in the posts that my blogger friends write that I feel blessed.
Take care.
Thank you Munir. I actually mentioned to some of the girls about then having dancing and socializing in middle school. I told them to be good always. I know what you are saying about spending quality time with your husband. My husband got a part time job for something to do...well it just seems to interfere with our retirements. He works weekends, I do not like that. Hope your time is sweeter with your hubby.:):) Bless you, xoxo,Susie
DeleteThose really are bittersweet kinds of days, aren't they, Susie? The kids are really growing up and moving on to middle school. Time goes so fast. No nails. huh? That's kind of sad! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteDiana, You are so right...I had a lump in my throat when the bus left. I got lots of hugs from the kids. They are wore out, I think. They may sleep tonight. LOL. They play that bag toss game, baseball, roller bladed, played on a pogo stick, drew art, chased playing tag. Then while waiting for the bus they played duck-duck-goose. I wish I had that much energy. LOL. xoxo,Susie
DeleteI remember the pictures from last year, Susie. It always seems to be a fun day for everyone.
ReplyDeleteYou guys rock!!
Smooches.
Debbie
xo
Thank you Debbie. I hope the kids remember this day fondly. They let off their rockets at the park before coming for the picnic. Bless you, xoxo,Susie
DeleteI always look forward to this post. It is sad when they are with a teacher for a whole year and off they go. Looks like they all had fun. That is a big class. Glad the bus picked them up.
ReplyDeleteDebby, My daughter really likes her class. There were 29 kids this year. The energy these kids had, well I think they could have pushed the bus back to the school. LOL. Remember when we were ten/eleven? Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteWhat a fun day for you and the kids. I wish I could sit like that on the driveway and eat. Well, I could...but I wish I could get back up afterwards! I'd have to get on my knees, put my hands on something and push myself up! Good grief! I'm glad you are old fashioned and do not polish the boys nails. I just read a headline about how there are going to be some schools that are teaching kids to be non-gender specific. We are getting more and more away from the Good Lord's teachings than ever. We are girls, they are boys. PERIOD!
ReplyDeleteCindy Bee
PS, I hope I don't stir up a bunch of controversy with that comment. It's how I feel.
Cindy, I made the mistake of doing yardwork on Monday...oh my goodness my squat muscles were killing me today. I did get down and draw with some of the girls, on the driveway with chalk. I need to be working out, I guess. I do see things changing...not all change is good or welcomed. I just pray that God can help us.Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteSuch a fun day for both the kids and you. I remember you doing this last year. It's such a nice thing for you to do for them.
ReplyDeleteWe had a couple other parents show up to help. Plus the bus driver donates his trip to pick them up. My heart aches for kids some times. ...they grow so fast these days. I like meeting them and watching them play. You can see who are best friends to each other. Bless you, xoxo,Susie
DeleteOh..it's so fun watching them arriving at your home one more year. These times have to be so exciting for you!! What a great Grandmother you are!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,pgert
Thank you Gert. I get excited when I see them coming down the street. One year my daughter taught them the music of "Hair" , I could hear them coming two blocks away. LOL. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteSo sweet. I remember when we left sixth grade, our teacher convinced everyone we should have a dress-up banquet rather than the traditional picnic we had all looked forward to. So bummed about that!
ReplyDeleteYou are a good grandma.
Nonnie, I think kids would always use a picnic over a dress up occasion. :):) They seemed to be on the move the whole time, except when eating. I do not know why they chose to eat in the driveway, instead of the picnic table and the chairs. I think they were anxious to get right back into play . I always tell them to yell nana if they see me out and about. Bless you, xoxo,Susie
DeleteWe are all at the end of another school year...our youngest will move into 8th grade..3 will be Seniors and that's all we have left in school. However, Cate, our first Great-grand will be in 1st next year.
ReplyDeleteGlad your kids all had a good time..:)
BJ, Seems you will be starting over once more. I feel sad that our grands will not being having Grandparents Day any more. It stops once the children enter sixth grade. We grandparents love our children. Bless you, xoxo,Susie
DeleteI bet they have great memories. I still remember many of our special days in elementary school. Have a wonderful Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteCarol, I too remember school days. :):) So I am hoping these children remember having a fun day at their teachers home. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteVery special memories. Thx for sharing the fun pictures. xo
ReplyDeleteMildred. I try to remember their names, but it's too many after only 3 meetings in a year. On my b-day, my daughter calls me and lets her class yell"happy birthday nana"...it touches my heart. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteHi Susie,
ReplyDeleteThe right of passage can be bitter sweet sometimes. It must be hard for your daughter each year to say good bye to a great group of kids. Looks like everyone had a wonderful time.
Have a great rest of the week.
Kris
Kris, My daughter loves teaching, so enjoys each class she has had through the years. I often see older children hug her in public, she tells me who they are, most times it's someone she has taught. I am thankful to be part of their lives for "picnic day". Bless you, xoxo,Susie
DeleteI loved these days---thanks for bringing back the memories, Susie! :)
ReplyDeleteJane x
Blondie, I hope I have helped these children have good memories of the last days of fifth grade. My daughter is taking them to a minor league baseball game today. She will have many parents along. After the IStep tests these kids need a break. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteThey will probably will remember. I have memories of certain events in my childhood. Even kindergarten. The problems are remembering stuff from yesterday.
ReplyDeleteThanks, this brought up a couple of my early remembrances.
You and your daughter are making such a difference in the lives of so many children - you will never know this side of heaven - how you have blessed them!!!
ReplyDeleteSusie, LOVE that picture of the girls with the braided hair! This will be a day to remember, that's for sure. Don't you just love to see sidewalk art that children drew? I always try to get a picture of it when I see something creative drawn by a child because they are so innocent and sweet. What a fun day you had!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice Saturday afternoon, Susie.
love, ~Sheri
Sheri, My daughter has a pictures of about 15 girls with their hair done by me. This year it seemed not too many were into it. One little girl clung to my side and must have hugged me ten times....kind broke my heart..So I told her to always yell at me if she sees me anywhere. I would always be her Nana. I hope some time down the road , they think of me with fondness. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
