Pool Opens Today....

Our city pool will open today. It got a new paint job at the beginning of the month.
All the chairs have been cleaned and stacked.
I see a new  tube slide....I like that, not like the old exposed burn your bottom slides.  One year, many years ago,  all my daughters worked at the city pool. One sold tickets, one worked the basket room, one work concession and one was a lifeguard. That was a good year .  I remember taking the girls to the pool  and the kids were in line waiting for the pool to open.  A boy yells "open the pool the pool girls are here!! "   I laugh about that today.  In the morning hours are usually swim lessons, the afternoon , the pool is open to the public, closes between 5-6, then opens up for evening hours. Well that's the way it used to be.  Things have probably changed since then.
Wishing all of you a happy Memorial Day...remember our service people today.  XO

    1. Hi Paul, I do not go to the public pool any more either. Too many crazy unwatched kids. LOL. My daughter that used to be lifeguard still goes and will take my granddaughters and watch them. My girls used to say the slide could burn your butt at times. Oh I love those girls of mine. Blessings on this day to remember. xoxo,Susie

    1. Mildred, I love to go by the pool when kids are there...the squeals and laughter Make me smile. When we are in the park you can hear them too. Our park is across the creek from the pool. I like a soft rain at times...just lately we have been forecasted rain for everyday now. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  4. I remember two particular pools we used to go to. Both were a bit of an adventure when we were young because we had to take a bus to get to either one. The same with the local beaches. Going to the ocean was the next step up. You had to be a bit older.
Sorry! I started a blog in your comment section.
    I'm outta here.

    1. Boston Boy, I love hearing about your life. That would be a good blog...how you would get to your pools and how old you could be to go on your own. Hope you are getting excited about your vacation...it can't be far off now. Bless you, xoxo,Susie

  5. I have fond memories of pools! Amber was a synchronized swimmer for 11 years and a life guard for 4 years. I do love the smell of chlorine!! My youngest son was a life guard for 3 years - and would you believe it?? - I do not know how to swim???

    1. Linda, I love that smell too. I like going by the pool and hearing the kids having fun there. MY oldest daughter was a lifeguard for years. She gave private lessons thru the morning hours. Our mother never let us near water, she was scared we all drown , I guess. But my sister Jeanie and I learned at church camp. I was bound that my girls would learn to swim...they all did , right at the Tipton pool for a quarter a lesson, can you believe that.LOL. xoxox, Susie

  6. Wish we would have lived near a pool. Both of my kids were good swimmers. I grew up near a lake (about a miles walk away), never learnt how to swim..but almost drown once! Eeeeks..

    Blessings to your day!

  10. Oh, this brings back memories of our city pool, Susie. I had swimming lessons for many years until I became a very good swimmer. How fun that all your daughters worked at the city pool one year. They must have had many stories to tell that summer. :~) Did you ever take swimming lessons there yourself?

Oh, these are fun times for sure, Susie.

    love, ~Sheri
