Today, my sister Jeanie and I are going to walk in the park again. Then maybe hit this junk shop.
I like looking at junk, even if I do not buy any. This old picture looks like someone's figurine collection. Makes me wonder, why do we collect. Do any of you collect certain items?? I used to have music boxes....nothing expensive. I sold them in a garage sale when we moved here. Now I seem drawn to little white pitchers, maybe creamers. I hope I do not see any today. LOL
Wishing you a fun day. Ours is cool , almost has the feeling of autumn. XO
I am usually on the lookout for things that would complete - or add to - the already too many sets of china I have! Sometimes I find a real bargain, but not very often. Enjoy your walk with your sister. xo NellieReplyDelete
Nellie, Your collection is something you will use. Which is really good. Hope your day is fun. xoxo,SusieDelete
Funny you would mention pitchers. I visited a blog last night and she had so many beautiful pitchers (white) in vignettes all over her home. Hope you two have a great afternoon.ReplyDelete
For a while, I collected cookbooks - these days, I don't bake much!
Once I owned a cookbook that belonged to my MIL....I loved lookingthrough that book so often. Then I gave it to my daughter who loved to cook. I just thought that made more sense. But I still think about that wonderful book. :):) xoxo,SusieDelete
I collect a lot of things. But if I buy them cheap, I don't mind getting rid of them later. I'll enjoy them for awhile! I have lots of cookbooks too....and rarely bake any more. (reading the comment above mine! lol) HUGS!ReplyDelete
Diane, My girlfriend who passed away 1 1/2 years ago...loved cooking and had many cookbooks. Her daughter has them now.. I think of Carolyn when I see cookbooks. I do not bake things other than muffins once in awhile. Hope your day is fun and sunny. xoxo,SusieDelete
Walking and thrifting. Sounds like a perfect day to me. xo LauraReplyDelete
We did walk around the park and pool. Then again at my sister neighborhood. We ate lunch out...but we just didn't make it to the junk shop. :( I really wanted to go to. xoxo,SusieDelete
Good for you Susie. A little exercise and some fun too. Two for one! I don't think there is enough room to list what I like to collect, but I have sold things in the past and have lived to regret it!! Maybe that's the description of a hoarder??? But certainly not one of those like you see on TV!!..Happy Wednesday..JudyReplyDelete
Judy, You made me laugh...I some times wonder if I don't start sorting and tossing, would I be on that show myself. Some have gone from hoarding to dire circumstances. All the bugs, mice, too scary. Give me goose bumps. I give away things and think oh where is this or that...and it's gone. LOL. Blessings, xoxo,SusieDelete
Hi, Susie..thanks so much for coming by.ReplyDelete
First off, my middle name is Jean and I've been Jeanie all my life to my family.
I collect...white pitchers. I gave most of my creamers to my daughter when we moved but I have a few still and I like larger white pitchers, too. I tried to downsize all my collections when we sold our home of 40 yrs and moved to be closer to our kids. I stilll have too many dishes but...what's a girl to do?? lol
BJ, when we moved here from town...I had lived there 35 years. I had everything in it's place..I got rid of a ton of things and seems I can't find places for things here. I have numerous junk drawers.LOL. Sad. I love the little pitchers too. I have one big white one.:):) Blessings.,xoxo,SusieDelete
O, and I just started following you thru Google Friends Connect. :)ReplyDelete
That makes me happy. xo,SusieDelete
Walking and shopping sounds wonderful. Looks like you had a great time.
Hi Kris, Well we ended up walking the park , ate lunch, then walked my sister's neighborhood....no junking. the picture of my sister and the junk was last year.LOL. That is where I wanted to go. Maybe next time. xoxo,SusieDelete
p.s. Got your message today.
Hope you had a lovely day, Susie! I love collections...probably way too many. But there are certain vintage goodies I can hardly resist.ReplyDelete
Mary Alice, I have things I can't part with. I just try not to carry too much home with me. Need to thin out many crafting things and get my art thing organized. Blessings, xoxo,SusieDelete
I don't really collect anything, but having said that, I do have about 12 Bibles, including one that was a childhood Bible that was rescued from a tornado.ReplyDelete
Kay, Maybe that is a collection.A nice one. So glad you have your bible from your childhood. That is special. xoxo,SusieDelete
I wonder sometimes why we are drawn to some things. Of course, I collect milk glass and white ironstone and am attracted to all things white, shabby and chippy. I love rusty but don't do much collecting there. I do collect dust:)ReplyDelete
Oh I have a pretty good dust collection of my own. LOL. I like white ironstone also. xoxo,SusieDelete
I've collected lots of things through the years, but have grown bored with it after a time and like you, I sold my things in a garage sale. LOL Now I'm beginning to collect things that way "Sweet Tea". Yet a nother collection!ReplyDelete
I think our taste change as we age. I know our amounts of money to spend sure changes. I use to have a shoe collection, but I can wear fancy heels or platforms..so I got rid of my shoe collection , along with the music boxes. Simpler life style now. Show your "sweet tea " things some time. , I would love to see it , xoxo,SusieDelete
I like to collect certain things. I know what you mean how tempting it can be if you see it for sale too!ReplyDelete
Kelly, It is too tempting when you really are interested in something. xoxo,SusieDelete
I know about collecting. I started collecting comic books as a kid, stopped the picked it up again about 10 years later. I hope to cash in one day. I have not collected in 25 years. It can get out of hand.ReplyDelete
Boston Boy, You may own something very valuable....I know comics are really about the first kind of collecting I ever heard of. I have been reading a comic strip about comic collecting lately. Funny. It's called Funky Winkerbean. Blessings, xoxo,SusieDelete
I collect EVERYTHING!!! LOL If I find it pretty and charming, (and of course OLD),ReplyDelete
I can't resist. Happy hunting!
Patti, You have the best collection....I am sure others are envious. I love all your fancy glass and silver things...from a more glamorous time in America. Blessings, xoxo,SusieDelete
I love figurines, there's just something about them. My mother-in-law has a figurine of a little girl playing the piano, and every time I visit her, I admire it. I have a few collections myself - perfume bottles, pretty frames, and fairies. I hope you had fun browsing the shops with your sister, Susie. Show me if you bought anything, would you?
