Test Day......

Here is a few pictures of some of the lovely things at Horton's. It's  just some thing pretty to look at , while I speak of my boring day ahead.
Don't you love all the lace table cloths in this display?? I just wish I had more of them.
Today, I go to our hospital for some scans.  I have had the blood tests, urine tests, and today it's scans on my bladder and kidneys...... all because there was a trace of blood in my urine. I have been on blood thinner for 13 years. While all this is going on, my G.P. has decided to just be an internist, and I have had to get a new doctor. New doctor told me I do not need to be on blood thinners and there was no blood in the new urine test. Why??????
Do you ever wonder if your doctor knows what is what? I do ...I am going to question the blood thinner removal. I think I should slowly stop taking them. Not just STOP. Because I do not want any more problems. The less meds I have to take the better.
So I will be back later.  XO

  2. Bee, I am on 3 meds , one being the warfarin...I think my stomach med is because of that too. So maybe being off the blood thinner will work great...here's hoping....but I will talk about it to the dr. first. Hope your day is great and sunny....raining here, xoxo,Susie

  3. I have a doctor for everything. I am on a full aspirin for a blood thinner as I refuse to take the coumadin. Ask your doctor about taking an aspirin each day. HUGS!!

  4. Dearest Susie!
I hope that I catch you before you head off for your tests today! ( I am up later because, I am working intermittent hours with the house filled with family right now.)

I am a firm believer in second opinions when it comes to medical care.

Your new doctor may think that the risks of taking a blood thinner outweigh the risks of going without. So much medical care is determined by statistics. I miss the days of our family practitioners that new our bodies better than we did.

Don't be afraid to ask questions!
You are in my thoughts and prayers!

    1. I am not going to stop my warfarin till I talk with the Dr. again. Just because of 13 years of taking it. I believe our bodies get used to the meds and have to be weaned off...Although there are times when I think of throwing my 3 meds out the window. LOL. We have to take our care into our own hands. xoxo,Susie

  7. It is sad that we have to know more than the doctors for our health! Get another opinion and see what the internet says.

    1. I remember my G.P. from when I was young....he was one of the best diagnostic Doctors around. His daughter was my doctor till the end of last month. She is an internist and wanted to join a group that was starting up in our town. I think I will look on line. You know all drs. should have a link to each other...it sure could help each one be a better dr.xoxo,Susie

    1. Oh me too :):) I try to be trusting and cooperate but it's hard when there's so many screw ups. I am a pretty healthy person, honestly. Let's all try to stay that way. xoxo,Susie

  13. I feel for you, Susie. My doctor that I had for 25 years retired 3 years ago and it has been awful trying to find a doctor that I like and that helps me. I am now seeing a nurse practitioner that is wonderful and I plan on staying with her as long as possible.

I hope all goes well with your meds. I take 5 and Joe takes 14 so 3 sounds so little to me. But I agree 100% that the less you have to take, the better! You are very wise to get a second opinion. Praying for you that everything is OK. Please let us know.

    1. Kathy, So you know what having someone you know and trust means to you. I do not even know if I could keep my meds straight if I took as many as your Joe's has too. Thank you honey for the prayers. xoxo,Susie

  14. Honey! Yes, be proactive in your health. I've had two different doctors take me off ALL my meds at once including BP medicine and I thought I was going to die. Blood pressure was out the ceiling. I thought I was going to have a stroke. Then with the Bipolar, oh I thought I was going crazy. I am crazy but this was psycho crazy. Susie, you get another opinion.

  15. Oh you still have a good sense of humor...that sure helps doesn't it. I thought about long ago, my first round of warfarin...when the dr took me off of it, he put me on ascripton and then I could wean myself off of it in 18 months and I did. This is my second time on warfarin and it's been 13 years...that's a long time to just stop...so that is why I question it. We need medical degrees ourselves...what a shame. Thank you for caring, xoxo,Susie

    1. Linda, Getting the second opinion is a hard thing to...all our drs. in town have joined the I.U. Med...band wagon, so to speak. I think I will remind this new dr....how I went of warfarin the first time and it was with ascription(a coated aspirin) for 18 months.xoxo,Susie

  19. So why did your Doctor put you on blood thinners to begin with? Seems odd unless you were having some heart issues. It's funny you should be talking about this now because I am on a pill that is supposed to help regulate my heart beat and lower my b.p. I've been wanting to go off of it. But I feel the same way....gradual. I hope I get to go to Horton's.

    1. Cindy, I sure want to still go to Horton's. I was on blood thinners from a clot I got after surgery 13 years ago. Once I had a blood clot when I was very young and on birth control. My now(gone ) dr. said I would be on warfarin for the rest of my life because of having had two clots. the new dr. says they formed from outside proceedures and not from my own body making them and that is why she says no to the thinners. See Cindy, it kind of makes sense and kind of is scary. xoxo,Susie

  20. Susie- I sure hope you don't have to take the blood thinners, but you are right about coming off of them slowly. You could throw a clot and that could lead to a stroke. I would question it if it doesn't feel right to you. Praying this new doctor is the right fit.

  21. Internist is the name for GP they're all the same. Blood clots could be tricky. Probably wouldn't hurt to be on baby aspirin anyway. I'm sure you would get lots of opinions as to whether you should stop your warfarin so good luck picking the right one. Hope all is well.
