This year my mums spilled over . They were very pretty although some what leggy . So when it rained they did not stand tall.....they fell over. I cut them back every year in late winter or just at the start of spring. I am thinking I may have to make some sort of fencing around them once they reach their height and right before they bloom.
The weather around here for this week is to be pretty , maybe cool. As in 40 degrees up to 50 possibly. But that is good as long as we have some sunshine.
Going to go to my sister Jeanie's today. She is caring for our sister Brenda , who is having a surgical procedure . The Dr. is shooting a glue substance into some fractures in her spine. She has had this before, just last year. But Brenda fell taking some trash out and has been suffering for months now. She suffers from osteoporosis.
Since I have mentioned this, may I asked all of you ladies out there to please take care of yourselves. Get some exercise, don't smoke, take some calcium. Brenda had a hysterectomy at age 25 and never took any hormone replacements. Plus she smoked. She was an active person, but no exercise routine. Such as weight bearing exercises. She's a fragile person now.
Wishing you sunshine. XO
Love mums, don't have much luck growing them but I do buy them and put them in pots. I do pray your sister will be feeling better soon. Yes, I do take my calcium.
ReplyDeleteGood for you Sylvia. I think we have to be on our toes all the time. I like mums in pots on the porch too. xoxo,Susie
DeleteYour Mums are pretty. Sorry for the problems that your sister has. Good words of wisdom you shared! Have a good day.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann. Do take care. We have to be smart. xoxo,Susie
DeleteHI Susie(:)
ReplyDeleteoh I do like the mums trailing over like that (:)
Hope your sis heals up well..
yes we need exercise ..for sure ..
hugs,Patty
Hi Patty, Hope you are doing well ...I know you are liking this season. Some of my mums look like big pinwheels once they fall over.:) xoxo,Susie
DeleteYikes! I need to do that! I need to take better care of myself, eat right and exercise. I'm feeling it now at 54. I love mums. Just wish they would stay pretty forever. They lose their life too soon.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about the mums. they are so pretty but need to last longer. :):) Oh we all seem to do more for our health, it seems. I can't exercise everyday or too many in a row...but I do get plenty at times. xoxo,Susie
Deletebeautiful Mums, I'm so sorry your sister is suffering, its a hard life sometimes, we all need to take better care,
ReplyDeleteLaurie, You are right about that...we need to do more at times. I just got back from seeing my sister, she is doing well right at this time. xoxo,Susie
DeleteHi Susie. Your mums are really beautiful. They are one of my most favorite flowers and I really love their smell! Hope your sis gets to feeling better. I know about bad backs. My sciatica is working on me now but I smoked for 30 years (not proud but proud that I quit) but quit in 1989 and thank heavens I have the bones of a 20 year old, or so the doc says..Happy Wednesday..Judy
ReplyDeleteJudy, I love mums because they are very hardy and will give such pretty blooms . So happy for you to be smoke free now. I too smoked for a while. I am thrilled I quit. Some times my lower back will act up too. Bummer. I need to stretch before doing any thing. xoxo,Susie
DeleteI LOVE all your mums!!! I babied mine all summer long - watering them to keep them alive in this Texas summer heat - and then right towards the end of the 100+ temps - I didn't water for a day or two - and they turned crispy brown! I cut them back to the green and hoping most of them will return. I bought a few more and that along with the ones that DID survive are all blooming nicely! I LOVE mums!!!
ReplyDeleteBones are important. I don't have good ones either. Must.walk.more.
Linda, they say walking is the best thing for strong bones. It's certainly easy and no expensive equipment. LOL unless you count a good pair of shoes. Remember running barefoot...Oh how I wish I could do that again. xoxo,Susie
DeleteYour mums and all your flower bed looks so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about taking care of ourselves. Osteoporosis is nothing to mess with. I hope all goes well for her. My sister has had extensive treatments for that and it had helped her a lot.
Thank you Nonnie, I saw my sister after her surgery...she was okay...a bit hungry:):) She will not feel as perky tomorrow I am sure...but thankfully the dr. said it should be good for her. xoxo,Susie
DeleteMy mother had the same surgery done last year. She also had it a few years ago before that. Her bones are so bad. She was a smoker but did quit years ago. She watches every calorie but loves her wine and pain pills, hah. She is 87......not much of a chance she is going to change.
ReplyDeleteDebby, You made me laugh. Maybe when we are older , in pain...we need a couple glasses of wine. LOL. The bad thing of osteoporosis is even coughing can make fractures. I saw my sister today. she was a bit groggy but said she was happy with what the dr. said. Bless her heart, it hurts me to see her like that. xoxo,Susie
DeleteI pray that the procedure was successful for your sister. I found an exercise routine that I enjoy, beginning in 1999 and I still do it at a health club. Your advice is good.
ReplyDeleteHi Terra, My sister was doing well in the late afternoon. I think today she will be feeling more pain. She's going to have to rest, that is why she will stay at my sisters. Thank you for stopping by, xoxo,Susie
DeleteI am sending many prayers to your sister and to you and Jeanne as you help her out, it's a labor of love, isn't it.
ReplyDeleteGood weather here, brisk but sunny. I hear we have a warm up coming. Yes!!
Jane xxx
Thank you for the prayers Blondie. My sister Brenda is a good person and she does need help at this time. I am happy we are in for some nice weather. Hope you are doing better, so sorry to hear your hand had some infection.xoxo,Susie
DeleteThat's too bad about your sister, Susie. When someone takes a fall, it seems that everything goes haywire. I have a bit of sad news today too - my father-in-law passed away last night. He was 90 years old, and I sure loved that old guy. He had a long and happy life.
ReplyDeletelove,
~Sheri
Sheri, I am so very sorry to learn of your FIL passing. I know you are all saddened . I will hold you in my prayers. xoxo,Susie
DeleteHi Susie,
ReplyDeleteI am glad your sister did well with her surgery. I will pray for her recovery. I totally agree with you on how important it is to take care of ourselves and our health. If we don't, who will? Smoking is about the worst thing a person could do, health wise.
