Teddy Bear promised we would go to goodwill today. I know he will look for candles to turn into fire starters. I think I'll look thru the baskets. I want to make some gift baskets for my sisters.
Today is the last treatment on our yard. Well for this year. You know you sign up for a certain amount of treatments and then they call you all year with offers of this and that. They think we have a golf course budget. LOL. I can still see some ratty spots in our lawn. Funny the older I get the less I want to mess with lawns and flowerbeds. I love having flowers that come back each year. I do annuals in pots, in the spring, to have color instantly. So they only need watering and occasional deadheading.
Today is gray and chilly, tomorrow is scary....maybe sleet or snow flakes here and there. Time to get the gloves out dear Buttercup. :):) The pretty part of autumn is going fast. Enjoy this day friends. XO
you said it perfectly, " the pretty part of Fall is leaving fast",,,
ReplyDeleteLaurie, I really hate to see it end...it's been so pretty. I am going to be looking for a bright new winter coat...don't you think winter can be dreary and not bright color makes it so. I am not saying there's nothing pretty about winter. there's many things....But I think we need colorful scarves and mittens and coats. LOL. xoxo,Susie
DeleteFrost coming Friday night :(
ReplyDeleteTime for my husband to take our geraniums and ferns to his shop to overwinter. I have plenty of baskets I wish I could give you! Stay warm, I think I am going to go make some pumpkin bread!
Ann, Ted and I ate lunch at Bob Evans and he bought banana bread to bring home...I like the pumpkin the best. :( Hope your flower can last. Once we saved a fern in the garage over winter. It amazed me. :) Get your wooly socks out girl. xoxo,Susie
DeleteIt is a good idea to buy baskets from Goodwill. Sometimes they have nice ones.
ReplyDeleteMunir, I actually found a like new basket and some lovely dishes. xoxo,Susie
DeleteIt's a good place to find baskets. You always put together such sweet gifts, too! Enjoy your day my friend! I'm going to the dentist again this afternoon...want to come with me? haha( I know you hate going!) Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteDiane, You tease, you know if I just hear the dentist drilling anyone else even, I get goose bumps.yikes. I found a nice basket and some dishes. xoxo,Susie
DeleteOh- I have been making fire starters, too, Susie. I like to save all those bits of spicy scented candles that don't burn down all the way to use for the starters.
ReplyDeleteHope you find some baskets and our lawn guys that weed'n'feed call us all year, too. Our lawn does look really good this year. xo Diana
Diana, Those candle fire starters smell better than the one from dura-flame. Ted makes boxes of them for us and our SIL who burn wood. He found some big candles , some at 1/2 price and I got some cute dishes and a nice basket. A couple cute things for fairy gardens next spring too. xoxo,Susie
DeleteLooks like you have a nice selection of baskets to pick from. I'm thinking a nice lawn is perfect. I'm not into yard work anymore!
ReplyDeletewarmly,
deb
Deb, I am with you on going crazy to keep a nice lawn..it can be expensive and maddening. I did fins a cute basket and some dishes. xoxo,Susie
DeleteSusie,
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed when I see your yard - it's so green and pretty. I only have a small space in my front yard and in the back yard too, but I'm happy with it still. I'm surprised your Autumn is coming to an end. We are in full Autumn here and enjoying it so much.
love,
~Sheri
Sheri, Our yard is still not as lovely as it was when we had our own personal lawn man...not the big business companies. But it is getting there. Just can be expensive . Glad you are having a nice autumn there. ours was heavenly till this past week. No it's just getting bare looking. xoxo,Susie
DeleteYes, it's going to be cold here in my neck of the woods~~ mornings, 36 degrees,, but wait the leaves are just now beginning to turn! Fall is leaving way too soon..
ReplyDeleteSylvia, I like when the leaves turn and stay on the trees for a long time. Tonight we will need a an extra blanket. Brr. xoxo,Susie
DeleteI think that baskets are one of the best thrift store finds. They are so expensive new and people just get gift baskets and often donate the baskets unused. Stay warm Susie!
ReplyDeleteJapolina, Some times there are new basket there. Every size and even different shapes at times. Yes, it's to be very cold tonight and tomorrow. Got my gloves ready. :):) xoxo,Susie
DeleteWe haven't had a wood burning fireplace for several years. I confess my ignorance about fire starters. You would put bits of leftover candles in your fireplace? Or use the candles rather than matches?
ReplyDeleteNonnie, This is how you make a fire starter...melt any wax(old candles) pour into a bathroom Dixie cup that has saw dust/shavings in it. Then when starting a fire use one of these to get it going. Nestle one in among your wood, then light it with a match. The wax makes it light quickly and the sawdust/shavings make it burn long enough to ignite the wood. Cheap to make. I have teased that Ted does not even waste his sawdust. xoxo,Susie
DeleteHope you found some baskets my friend! We worked all day long in the yard Sat. Pulling everything out and putting away the furniture. I had a sore back by the end of the day. Not quite what I use to be. lol! Beautiful day here and tomorrow is going to be in the 70's. Great for the tricksters. I'm stuck inside recovering from Monday's surgery. Boo-hoo!! ha, ha!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Jann, I am wishing you a speedy recovery. I know what you mean about yard work killing our backs. Me too. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteYour lawn does look like a golf course!!!
ReplyDeleteWe are expecting snow, and 40 mph winds tomorrow...I am NOT ready for that!
Hope your weekend goes well, Susie.
Love to you, dear friend.
Debbie
xo
Debbie, Oh there is no way that I am ready for snow...it's too close. I hope it does not stick around long., if it happens. I hope you have a great weekend also. I guess I better get my snow shovel polished up. :):) Love you, Susie
DeleteThat's quite a selection of baskets! I think your yard looks pretty! We're getting colder temps soon :(
ReplyDeleteSusan
