Goodwill ....

Teddy Bear  promised we would go to goodwill today. I know he will look for candles to turn into fire starters. I think I'll look thru the baskets. I want to make some gift baskets for my sisters.
Today is the last treatment on our yard. Well for this year.  You know you sign up for a certain amount of treatments and then they call you all year with offers of this and that. They think we have a golf course budget. LOL. I can still see some ratty spots in our lawn. Funny the older I get the less I want to mess with lawns and flowerbeds. I love having flowers that come back each year. I do annuals in pots, in the spring, to have color instantly. So they only need watering and occasional deadheading.
Today is gray and chilly, tomorrow is scary....maybe sleet or snow flakes here and there.  Time to get the gloves out dear Buttercup. :):)  The pretty part of autumn is going fast. Enjoy this day friends. XO

    1. Laurie, I really hate to see it end...it's been so pretty. I am going to be looking for a bright new winter coat...don't you think winter can be dreary and not bright color makes it so. I am not saying there's nothing pretty about winter. there's many things....But I think we need colorful scarves and mittens and coats. LOL. xoxo,Susie

  5. Oh- I have been making fire starters, too, Susie. I like to save all those bits of spicy scented candles that don't burn down all the way to use for the starters.

Hope you find some baskets and our lawn guys that weed'n'feed call us all year, too. Our lawn does look really good this year. xo Diana

    1. Diana, Those candle fire starters smell better than the one from dura-flame. Ted makes boxes of them for us and our SIL who burn wood. He found some big candles , some at 1/2 price and I got some cute dishes and a nice basket. A couple cute things for fairy gardens next spring too. xoxo,Susie

  7. Susie,
I am always amazed when I see your yard - it's so green and pretty. I only have a small space in my front yard and in the back yard too, but I'm happy with it still. I'm surprised your Autumn is coming to an end. We are in full Autumn here and enjoying it so much.

    love,

  9. I think that baskets are one of the best thrift store finds. They are so expensive new and people just get gift baskets and often donate the baskets unused. Stay warm Susie!

  10. We haven't had a wood burning fireplace for several years. I confess my ignorance about fire starters. You would put bits of leftover candles in your fireplace? Or use the candles rather than matches?

    1. Nonnie, This is how you make a fire starter...melt any wax(old candles) pour into a bathroom Dixie cup that has saw dust/shavings in it. Then when starting a fire use one of these to get it going. Nestle one in among your wood, then light it with a match. The wax makes it light quickly and the sawdust/shavings make it burn long enough to ignite the wood. Cheap to make. I have teased that Ted does not even waste his sawdust. xoxo,Susie

  11. Hope you found some baskets my friend! We worked all day long in the yard Sat. Pulling everything out and putting away the furniture. I had a sore back by the end of the day. Not quite what I use to be. lol! Beautiful day here and tomorrow is going to be in the 70's. Great for the tricksters. I'm stuck inside recovering from Monday's surgery. Boo-hoo!! ha, ha!
