Sunny In The Park.....

This is the walk through arch , at our city park. I love seeing this, it's old and ornate.
Looking toward town from the park. The leaves have been stripped from the trees with the winds we have had. Our park crew is wonderful these past few years. They clean up the leaves, limbs and branches that fall off the trees. They have even trimmed some of the dead limbs out of them.
Here's our courthouse. I like it. Reminds me of many years ago, when I was young. We kids would go to the museum part in the courthouse to see the Indian mummy. There actually was a mummified Indian in a coffin like box, in a display case. It has long since been removed to a burial place. There's birds of  Indiana in cases. A fox, bear,  and many pieces of old farm tools. This stuff doesn't impress  kids today. LOL
Hope you have a  beautiful day.  XO

    1. Oh me too Sylvia. I have loved our park since I was a child. We rarely went there when we were real small. But as we became teens, Mommy used to have picnics in the park with all of us. I sure miss those days. xoxo,Susie

  2. Your town in lovely, Susie. We, too, had a little museum down in the little town in the valley. We also had a mummy there-and part of a dinosaur. You are right- the kids today know and see so much that things like that don't impress them at all. Kind of sad.

Hope you have a wonderful day. xo Diana.

    1. Diana, I am one that has loved my hometown , our old buildings, our park. We have torn down too many memories here. So I cling to the courthouse and our park. The churches, all of them. Yes, I want thinking as I wrote this post...kids see everything at the children's zoo and the museum in Indianapolis. I am sure none ever go to the courthouse to see the stairs and smell that old courtroom smell. LOL xoxo,Susie

    1. Laurie, I do love my hometown. I really hate when someone comes here from another area and tries to have things changed to their liking. Some things need to be left as is. Hope your day is a great one...we have sunshine , 3 days now in a row. :):) xoxo,Susie

  4. Lovely pics of your town and park. I remember those smells of old buildings in downtown Tulsa and how much I enjoyed visiting the two museums on field trips.

I like old courthouse buildings and town squares.

    1. Nonnie, Those old buildings do have a smell. We have a heritage building with old pictures of our town from the late 1800's. I like learning some of it's history too. xoxo, Susie

  6. Great pictures Susie. And you are right, kids wouldn't enjoy it. Although I did find something the two girls that stayed with me enjoyed. A tour through our glass shop! I'll post about it soon (I need to delete about half of the pics!) but they really liked it. I love your old courthouse. Old buildings with history in them are the best.

    1. You are right Cindy. People want to build new instead of restoring the old ones with history to them. I have always loved our courthouse. Can't wait to see your pictures.xoxo,Susie

  10. Your town looks lovely!
We had wind too this weekend, it was a bit scary! It knocked a lot of the leaves off, and they haven't even changed color yet, most of them!
Have a great week, my friend! xx

  11. Susie,
That must have been interesting to see the museum when you were a kid. I would loved to have seen the birds of Indiana and the old farm tools. Your park looks so pretty, and it's nice that the crew keep it clean. You know, going to the park is one of my favorite places. I see the different changes of seasons there, and it's a good place for me to take pictures of nature.

    Have a wonderful week, Susie.

    love,
    ~Sheri
