Got a seed catalog, from Burpee ,yesterday in the mail. Beautiful photos. Burpee has been supplying seeds to home gardeners since 1876. I would love to see that catalog!
Wonderful vegetables, so many different varieties. Short fat carrots, long skinny carrots. LOL
Oops this photo is upside down. How does that happen? Tomatoes of every size and many combined colors.
Oh yes, The beautiful flower pages. I have to say, the prices are more than I expected for a packet of seeds . Everything in this book is said to be non-gmo (never genetically modified). I am going to enjoy looking through this catalog this week.
Monday's sunset. Can you even believe the temperatures, for the past week in Indiana, have been in the high 30's to the mid 40's. Loving it. Our snow has melted, except for the drift piles. Wishing all of you a great day. XO
Aren't seed catalogs beautiful! Good thing they don't show the weeds that invariably show up with the gorgeous veggies! Lol Have a wonderful day Susie!
ReplyDeleteJudy, you are so right...we don't even want to think of those weeds.LOL That's part of the exercise of gardening. Yikes, some times it just about too much exercise. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteIt's always an encouragement to see those seed catalogs arriving, even when there's snow outside. I like Burpee seeds, I've always had good luck with them.
ReplyDeleteStay warm dear Susie !
~Jo
Well Jo, if any of these seeds in this book grow to be as pretty as your flowers, I want some. :):) I like looking at the catalog and thinking of flowers for the gardens. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteSomething fun to browse! Enjoy your day my friend! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteDiane, I never knew there were so many varieties of tomatoes. :):) Today is cloudy and much colder now. I knew that good stuff would not last. Blessings sweetie, xoxo,Susie
DeleteSusie, about your comment today, I loved it! I know exactly what you mean because I am the youngest of 5 children, and I always had to hold my own too. It seems I still do sometimes haha. You, my friend, are one of the loveliest in blog land......and don't forget that.
ReplyDeleteThis seed catalog looks delightful. It sure would come in handy right now because I want to plant some flowers this spring at our new home. If you ever hear when the best time to plant roses is, let me know. I don't want to plant them too early because it might rain. There is still frost and rain here in March and even April. Thank you for the lovely sunset today. It's just what I needed.
love, ~Sheri
Sheri, Thank you for being so kind. Maybe you could get on line and find out about your area for planting. I am sure if would so different than ours. We are zone 5 ...look on the tags of plants the zones are usually on them. I wish you great success. I just have trouble with roses, although I truly love them. They have the best fragrance. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteLove the images! I needed to see something wonderful! Seeds are expensive! And you get a tiny little amount in every package now. Even the plants are coming in 3 packs and not in the 6's like they used to...but its so much fun planting and weeding and picking fresh things...we had a sunny morning going, but its a thing of the past now.
ReplyDeleteTete, I will give you one of the prices...25 Zinnia seeds for 6.95....shipping would be another 5 dollars. wowwee-wow-wow. Of course you would have the seeds from the one flowers you would grow. Makes me want to start selling seeds. LOL. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteTime to plan next years garden..We've been having the same weather..until now!! It's really snowing..
ReplyDeleteMissy, I will plan but by the time it's spring, I'll have all new ideas. LOL. I just found out it is snowing there. It's windy and colder here today and cloudy. The good stuff was nice while it lasted. :):) Bless you, xoxo,Susie
DeleteOh, that catalog is wonderful! I haven't seen one in forever. I usually end up at Home Depot and get my seeds and young plants. I don't always do well with seeds, so I try to get something that is already started for me.
ReplyDeleteThat sunset is gorgeous! I doubt I will see a sunset today because it's supposed to be a major snowstorm this afternoon.
Kathy, I'll glean ideas from this book , but buy at Wal-mart or Lowe's. Burpee's has a great reputation but they are pricey. Stay safe on the roads. It's getting cold here now and windy. xoxo, Susie
DeleteI got a couple of seed catalogs I've been perusing. Love them this time of year. And yes, I have loved the weather this last week. It got cold again today though. Have a nice evening.
ReplyDeleteCindy Bee
Hi Cindy, I like looking at the catalogs and buying at Lowe's or Walmart. The shipping and handling makes it too costly to order...Plus one packet of Zinnia seeds was 6.95 for 25 seeds.. I find that high....although you'd have plenty of seeds once those 25 turned into flowers. I think winter is back LOL. Stay safe. xoxo,Susie
DeleteIt IS so much fun looking at the seed catalogs and dreaming! Will you order anything?
ReplyDeleteLinda, Hi, I think I am only looking to get ideas. I have ordered from Springhill 's catalog before and got very nice plants and they were not too pricey. But the seeds in this Burpee are high, they must be good , the company has a great reputation. I hope you are doing well. Think spring along with me. , xoxo,Susie
DeleteWe've received one catalog here, but it would be great to see that one from Burpee! Hubby is too busy with his current hardwood project, though, so he really shouldn't be tempted by planning the garden.:-) xo Nellie
ReplyDeleteNellie, Don't let your husband have his catalog till the floors are done. LOL. He is a great gardener...I think you must help him. My daughter ordered this catalog on line. www.burpee.com So Maybe you could get one for your husband. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteI love getting seed catalogs right about now...makes us have hope! I generally don't order from them unless I know the plants will do well in our area. Have you ever been to the website Renee's Garden? You would love it!! A feast for the eyes!
ReplyDeleteJane x
Blondie, I just love looking at the catalogs and reading about plants . I have learned lots from them. I will probably be buying at Lowe's or Walmart. The shipping and handling makes ordering costly. I am going to check that site out. Thank you. I never dreamed there were so many different tomato plants. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
Deletep.s. think winter is back
What a beautiful sunset! The seed catalog reminds me of spring. Just tonight Arlene and I set the week for our trip to you know where. Last day in May/first week in June. Spring is the best.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could go to the vineyard again. You and Arlene are going to love that. It won't be stifling hot then. Most schools will be getting out at that time. So I don't think it will be so crowded till later in June. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
