Marigolds.....

This smelly little flower has durability. It still is going strong , after the rain , wind and chilly air.
This year they can back where I had sprinkled all the seeds, as I dead headed them.
This shot is from our park, the maple has lost it's leaves now. Things are looking bare in the park .
This is my neighbor's front yard and the crimson maple is bare this morning. This is an old photo.  She has a flowering crabapple also. That will be some food for birds and squirrels this winter. We only had about 2 dozen hickory nuts on our tree this year. I think we may have to put food out for the squirrels as well as the birds this winter.
Cooler temperatures this morning. Not to be any warmer that 55  degrees today. Looks like we are now into the chilly bare part of autumn.  Just so it doesn't snow.  :):)
  Enjoy this wonderful day. XO

    1. Hi Buttercup, I keep some little gloves in my car all the time. I like to keep them handy. My sister gave all of us other sisters a wrap around earmuffs . Now that is handy on windy days with a bit of a chill. I think our lovely warm weather is waning. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  7. Hi Susie, I didn't have a lot of success with marigolds here or them reseeding. I love Maples-all types, but especially the ones that get vibrant colors in the fall. We've always had at least one Japanese lacy leaf, but they are harder to grow here. I had just gotten a Autumn Blaze maple at our old house, I hated leaving it.
    Thanks for sharing, stay warm.

    1. Noreen, My mother had a dogwood tree, she brought from Alabama to her yard. When Mommy passed away, my sister said she wanted to take it...but she never did, or I would have....but I did get some of mom's lilac starts and they have bloom the last two years. That makes me smile whenever I see them, cause mommy sure did love them. I like that some of the things I planted at my house in town are still growing nicely. I have planted 8 trees out here since we moved here. Blessings to you, xoxo,Susie

  9. We had a hickory tree in my yard when I was growing up. Never saw too many nuts on it, though, and we never had any squirrels. Very odd. xo Nellie

  12. I'm with you Susie. The longer we have nice weather days, the less time my bees have to survive the winter! But the fall colors this year have been absolutely gorgeous.

    1. Cindy, we have been very lucky with colors...but I swear the woods behind us is almost bare of foliage. I hope your bees do well. I love to have bees around..I think I know that a honey bee is calm if you are...it's those other buzzy things..I try not to swat at them. xoxo,Susie

  13. How pretty!!! Your neighbor's tree is spectacular!

I had marigolds in a big pot with my tomato plants. I let them be when I pulled those plants out in September. They are still going strong!! :)

    1. Blondie, I like the marigolds because they do hang a bit longer than some flowers. Did they help keep the bugs from your tomatoes?? xoxo,Susie

  14. Such beautiful flowers! The trees are just gorgeous. We don't have that much foliage change here, especially when we've had high 80's and low 90's in October. Cooler today and more on the way. I do hope you don't get snow yet!

  15. Hi Susie,
Our trees are starting to really lose all their pretty leaves here too. My summer plants like the one on my front door still going strong. Too funny how they just will not give it in even with the colder temps. Loving that they are hanging in there. Have a great week.

  16. The marigolds are a bright and pretty color, Susie. I love seeing pictures of your park because that's one of my favorite place to take pictures. I see flowers, birds, leaves, and occasionally even a deer. Your neighbor's red trees are so pretty. I wish I had the cooler weather that you have there, Susie.

    love,
