Mid October.....

Here's some scary little things to decorate your lawn.  I wish I had bought one of this cute witches.
The first photo , the things are made of wood, these are made of metal. These would last longer.
I usually just use real things, such as this small pumpkin and mums. I have yet to get my scarecrows  out. I am behind on so many things this fall.
These trees are at the academy grounds.  That is where the nursing home for the nuns and other Catholics used to be. My sister Jeanie worked there. They have closed the nursing home and transferred all the patients. Now the grounds and buildings are up for sale. It seems sad to me. I hope and pray something very good will be established there,  once it's sold. It would be a shame to destroy all the beautiful trees and the chapel.
Can you believe October is half over ? I am wondering, did we have a September? Hope all of you are enjoying some great fall weather and foliage. XO

  1. beautiful photos, I love all the decorations, it is sad when they leave buildings vacant, in our city they build new ones and leave the old ones sitting vacant, such a waste of money! I agree, this month is flying by!

  2. Laurie, I hate when buildings are just left to fall down. There would be many good uses for them. Hope you have a great weekend. xoxo,Susie

  3. Those trees are truly beautiful. I wish we had better seasons here in California. Some day I will visit the east coast at this time of the year so I can take in all the beauty of the changing colors.

    1. Patty, when I worked I dreamed of retirement and all the things I would do. Well no one told me that time went much faster in retirement. LOL. Or so it seems. Plus the fact the kids grow up too fast. Bless you, xoxo,Susie

  6. I agree with you, Susie...where does the time go? It's hard for me to enjoy one season, because it seems we jump right into the next so quickly!! The stores already have their Christmas decorations out!! I hate that!!
Oh well. What can you do?
Have a great weekend, dear friend.

  8. Susie,
The Academy grounds is so pretty with all the Autumn trees. That seems like a nice place to have a chapel. I'm like you, I love to use real things to decorate, and your mums and pumpkin are perfect for the season. I put a little white pumpkin outside my front porch and smile every time I see it.

Have a great weekend, Susie, and thanks for the wishes for Nel. She has been working so hard on getting her Ph.D.

    love,

    1. Sheri, I think our Catholic system here is on the wane...the grade school closed this year and the Academy is up for sell. The young girl considering becoming nuns used to be schooled there...so hard to believe , the money isn't there any more. Breaks my heart. I am happy for your daughter, Nel. I know it's hard work to achieve one's dreams, she deserves the degree. xoxo,Susie

  10. Yes, always so very sad when old buildings and grounds are left to decay, hopefully the new owners will take good care of it.
Love those wooden Halloween yard ornaments, folks are so talented and creative.

    1. Hi Jo, I am hoping who ever buys the grounds and buildings will make a nursing home of it again. It is sad, not all change is good. xoxo,Susie

  12. What a shame about that place being for sale, Susie. I hope it comes to some good use and is restored to its full glory one way or another. The grounds are beautiful.

I didn't do nearly as much for Fall this year as I usually do. Just one of those years. I hope to make up for it at Christmas. xo Diana

    1. Diana, I drove by the Catholic school today and took photos of the playground. No one playing...I think they are still having day care there for now. It's so sad. As for the Academy, it is sad that is where they once taught young ladies to become nuns. Makes my heart sad. xoxo,Susie

  13. Cute photos Susie! I do love autumn so much. Today on my drive to town, I just took my time and marveled at Gods handiwork. The trees are soooo beautiful this year.
Sorry I haven't been over in awhile. I will try to remedy that. :)

  14. Susie! You are SUCH a sweetheart, I swear you are. I saw you left a "checking on me" note on my poor page that hasn't had an entry in lord knows how long. A million thanks for that. Someone needs to shoot me for not doing any blog walks and all I can say is I'm sorry. No excuse, just awful that I haven't. I got talked into FB for my school's 50th reunion and that hooked me into all the stuff. Well, when I say that, I don't stay online in FB but every once in a while, like today, I post. I looked at it and thought, holy cow, I just posted a blog. Everyone on FB seems to just post cartoons or sayings. I'm not sure what that does for mankind, but, I guess it's what they like. Now to you: flu shots: there's a new one called the High Dose that is recommended for everyone 65 and over. Don't know if you fall into that category but I did. Has side effects. Sore arm is an understatement and I added a raging stiff neck to that. It took a week to all go away, but never felt sick with any of it. Glad it over and done, though. Something for you to think about.
The wood and metal sculptures are fabulous. I love them all and had I been there, I'm sure I would have spent a fortune -- I am one soft touch and I love crafts. Your deck looks great! Fall, to me, is the most outstanding season of all. I'd love if it stayed this way all year. The temps, the colors, and especially the way light plays on roads and yards -- I call it "dappling". Takes my breath away. My own brand of Heaven on Earth.
IF you do FB, leave me a note on my blog page and we'll get ourselves connected. I miss blogging. Seems so many have left now and the pages sit there like mine, barren and corners bent. Susie, you're so dear. Thanks for thinking of me and checking. You're a jewel :D Xoxoxo
