Once again the rose that my daughter Kathy gave me to tend for her, has at least one bloom. That little rose fights so hard to live. I give it fertilizer and that is all . I love the way it looks with the daisies behind it. I thought one day, possibly Kathy could take it to her own yard , so I must keep it going.
The hydrangea is getting some heads on it. I am amazed it's still here too. Weak plants don't have much of a chance around me. LOL
This is beginning to look like a jungle in front. The barberry, black eyed susans, Russian sage, bird's nest and some pachysandra....all needs more room. Well I can tell you today was not the day to thin things out. It's in the 90's....way to hot for me.
Hope all of you are enjoying your day. XO
I favor sturdy plants that are hard to kill as I do NOT have a green thumb! I need to get out with hedgers, clippers and all manner of yard tools and cut things back and clean things up! However, that won't happen here today either!
ReplyDeleteI am trying to use more native Texas plants as they survive the summers better.
Stay cool Susie Q! Louis Dean and I call you that to each other. As if we know more than one Susie. We don't!
Linda, I am so glad to know I am not the only one that loves hardy plants..as I do not want to have to pamper any of them. LOl. I love that you and LD call me Susie Q...that's what my father called me, is the reason I have Susie as a nickname.LOL. Love you guys, Susie
DeleteRose is beautiful. Your other plants all look great. I'm like that - if they require too much work - forget it. I only want the hardy plants. LOL
ReplyDeleteJudy
Judy, I used to say if it isn't hardy here...it doesn't have a chance. LOL . I want my daughter to know her rose bloomed again. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteWay too hot here, too, Susie. I'm no fan of summer's heat! Lovely flowers! xo Nellie
ReplyDeleteNellie, With the temps in the 90's makes me wonder what will August be like. Hope you get breezes there for relief. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteThe heat was bad here today, too. That is such a pretty rose and I love the daisies behind it. You have a good variety of plants to enjoy, but don't get sick working in the heat. I hope you will have a nice upcoming weekend. xo
ReplyDeleteMildred, I am not going to working hard in any of this heat. We keep having the weather predictions of rain for the next 6 days. I can deal with pop up showers...I just do not want too much rain.. Take care and enjoy the weekend, xoxo,Susie
DeleteI have Creeping Charlie, a Christmas cactus, one Iris in a pot and a red trumpet plant to attract some humming birds to my balcony.
ReplyDeleteRather hard to have too much on the balcony, and they need to be sun friendly.
The rose is lovely.
Wanda, I guess it's easy to tend to your plants on the balcony. :) That is how I ended up with my daughter's rose...she moved to an apartment and didn't want to leave it in her old yard....but now she has a house and yard again....so I keep thinking she'll take her rose back. Bless you, xoxo,Susie
DeleteIt was pretty hot around here this day as well.
ReplyDeleteI like the rose as well as the fountain in your yard.
Hi Boston Boy, This humidity may become more than I can bear. I like 70's not 90's LOL. Hope it doesn't get too hot there. Of course you have the winds off the water. That has to help. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteReally been hot here, too...flowers are already droopy and our summer is going to get a LOT hotter.....
ReplyDeleteBJ, I can't believe how very hot it has been and is predicted to be this coming week....it seems more like late summer temps. Bless you, xoxo,Susie
DeleteConsidering my luck with the rose bushes I currently have I think you are going to have to keep this one. One of my rose bushes produces dark red blooms but after the first year no longer have any fragrance. Another one is growing taller and leafier but going on the 2nd year of no blooms. The other one is like ground cover and the blooms are too delicate to enjoy-especially in this rain!
ReplyDeleteI think the fragrance of most roses is a thing of the past. That is why I love wild roses sweetheart....they still smell like roses. Hope you can enjoy their beauty though. I love you Kathy Jane, mommy
DeleteSusie, that rose is beautiful, and what an unusual color it is. I think it stands out so much because of the white daisies in the background, like you said. This is truly a perfect rose. :~)
