Some Work & Some Fun....

Ted is splitting more logs. We will stack them later. We did get all the logs and wood from our fallen hickory ,down to the wood pile.
More to split. Some of this is from Ted's brother yard.
All the branches and twigs have been burned in the fire ring. We rake thru this the put some of it in a garden area and till it in.
This is the place where the tree fell and now it's all cleaned up and mowed. I cleaned, raked, swept , and Ted mowed.
The hostas under the tulip poplar are blooming and the hydrangea by the dri-gas tank. So lots of our work is done for now. Yippee, feels good too.
This is our granddaughter Emma after I washed that big head of hair.  I like her T-shirt, she wears in her mommy's and others' honor. :):) Fighting breast cancer. Her mom Liz, is cancer free now.
Emma wanted her hair in braids to wear home. Aunt Angie picked her up and took her home yesterday. I truly enjoyed my time with Emma. We did not do crafts. Took her swimming, shopping and out to eat. We watched movies, she drew pictures, we talked  and laughed. It just was a great time. I always miss her the minute she leaves out of the driveway.
Hope you are all enjoying a great day. XO

  1. How perfectly wonderful your time with Emma was!!! Talk about being an Energizer Bunny! You and Ted just keep going and going and going!! I enjoyed seeing little peeks into your property! That little out building - is that a balcony on top? And LOOK!!! You even decorate your fence!!! You are a girl after my own heart!! I'll have to tell Louis Dean he can till in some of our ashed in the area where Sanford and Son still reside! I didn't know ashes were good for that!
Everything around your place just looks so neat and tidy!

    1. Linda, That is a balcony on top. We thought we could enjoy sitting up there....but the insects are bad the past few years. I hate spiders and mosquitoes. The little farm scene on the fence, I got at a rummage sale for 5 dollars , about 5 years ago. We have worked to clean up where the tree fell so it would kill the grass lying on it. I may fill in the hole that were gouged from limbs. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  2. Susie, I am so thankful to the Lord that Liz is cancer free. I love Emma's t-shirt and her hair looks adorable! Glad you two had such a nice visit.
Your yard looks great. I know you and Ted have worked hard. Hope you can take it easy for a little while and just enjoy! xoxo

    1. Mildred, I ask God everyday to keep Liz healthy. We did get that tree cut up and out of the way...did not want it lying on the lawn to kill the grass. I've been doing laundry today...so that's not as hard a job as Ted's. :) Bless you, xoxo,Susie

  3. "Cancer-Free" what could be more wonderful words....
Emma has hair like my granddaughter's, thick as a pony's tail, and lots of it...gorgeous.
The yard looks so clean and neat, good job on removing the fallen tree, the hosta's are gorgeous.

    1. Jo, When Emma's mom Liz was little she would pull her out and suck her thumb. Her hair was as thick as 3 normal heads of hair, when it finally grew in. LOL. So Emma got her mom thick hair. I love braiding it. Just not crazy about combing out tangles. When you say the hostas look good, I am taking that as a great compliment from you , as you are a wonderful gardener. Thank you. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  4. I agree with Mildred.
At the moment the weather here is perfect but as the saying goes, If you don't like the weather, wait a minute."
How lovely, both your granddaughter and your property are.

    1. Thank you Paul. I think our Emma is a cutie pie. I always ask God to make her be a good girl. Actually this weekend, I told to always be kind even when her own group of friends might now be being kind. I have been happy about the sun shining today after a short rain this morning. Stay dry. Hope your 4th is fun with your pals. Bless you, xoxo, Susie

    1. Honey, I hope you don't get any more rain either. The news around these parts is standing water in the fields...destroying the crops...that were well on schedule and looking good before these last bad rains. It seems to be endless. I wish we could send these rains to the west coast, they truly need it. Take care, xoxo,Susie

  6. Love the shed. Your yard is beautiful. I bet the bed with bricks makes a great fire pit in the winter.

    1. Hi Bonnie, We usually just burn our yard trash in the ring...nothing like papers , plastics ,or garbage. It is probably full of hickory nuts. LOL.Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  7. What a job you guys did. Congratulations. I know how tough it is to get rid of a large tree and the mess.
Have a wonderful evening Susie. See ya.

    1. Paul, we were tired and sore....but it was worth it. In town , many still have their fallen trees to clean up. The tree trimmers are probably over charging....sad. Paul...You should be about ready to cruise with Miss Bee. LOL. I would love to take a cruise with her. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. Thank you Linda. I did enjoy all the time with my Emma Pooh. She is growing up thought...I could see it her height and also her demeanor...it is bittersweet...we have to let them grow, but then I feel like I would love to keep her little forever. Bless you, xoxo,Susie

  10. I love what those girls hair looks like when you take the braids out when it is braided wet. or damp, like that. Glad you had fun with her. Sometimes it is fun to just hang out and not do anything crafty with them.

Your yard is just so pretty, Susie. Lots of yard work there and you keep it up beautifully. xo Diana

    1. Diana, I think that is why Emma wanted her hair braided, so it would be wavy after she took it down. She had it crimped when she came over. Her hair is longer than Lizzy's used to be at that age...but I think Lizzy's was thicker. I wish our flowerbeds were cleaned out. I have totally let two go to ruin. I am ashamed....some times seems like a have a big plate. LOL. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. Hi Viv, I hope you have some time for your yard. This has not been a good time for plants. The rabbits ate a lot of my petunias. The wind blew over some of my containers. It's been rough trying to even find time to sit out. I am praying the rest of this summer will smooth out...we ladies want to relax in our gardens or on the porch. LOL . Blessings to your household for a great holiday. xoxo,Susie
