A Real Summer Day...

Today the neighbor man was picking apricots. He yelled over to come and get some of them. The wind had knocked plenty off the tree yesterday.  You can see he has them piled under the tree...that will be a gnat fest later. LOL.
There's so many on this little tree, they look so pretty. Totally organic...meaning maybe a worm or ant here and there.
I brought in and washed these. Just enough to taste them. Mike said I could pick more for a pie if I liked. I think the apricots look very pretty with my picnic  cloth on the table.
This is the way the skies looked today. I love those puffy clouds and blue skies.  Corn has tasseled in the back ground.
Looking down the road. Some of the clouds are having some gray ....that means possibly more rain .later.  I would love a week of blue skies and sunshine.
The marigolds are blooming near the mailbox.  As I opened the mailbox to get our mail, my hair stood straight up...there was one of those big black hairy spiders on the mail. YIKES!! Where's my gun?? I still have goose bumps on my scalp, just thinking of it. I got the broom from the porch and swept him out of the box. Good-bye hairy beast ! Why do the bugs and spiders want to torment me? LOL
Hope all of you are having some sunny days this summer. I heard on the news school will start in about 5-6 weeks. Unreal.  All of us better live it up, kids. XO

  1. Oh Susie the spider. I am deathly afraid of Spiders so that would have given me a heart attack! I can take snakes, and other beasty bugs but no spiders. The skys are blue and fluffy clouds here but we are going to get more rain too. I am with you would like to see some very nice sun filled days for at least a week in a row and no rain. Have a great day. Enjoy the sun while it is out.

    1. Kris, I had my hand ready to grab that mail and there that spider sat looking right at me. I just get the heebie-geebies. I am praying for the sun to stick around. For your area too. we have had too much rain this year. Bless you, xoxo,Susie

  2. Yikes, a spider in your mailbox! That would have startled me too. That was so nice of your neighbor to tell you to take some of the apricots. I love apricots - they would be so yummy coming straight from the tree. I am always amazed when I see your green and groomed lawn, Susie. It's so beautiful.

    1. Thank you Sheri. We try our best to keep the lawn nice. It has been trashy with all the things blown from the trees. I hope that spider doesn't get back in the box...I'll throw a couple moth balls in the back...maybe that will help. Blessings, Love, Susie

  3. Oh, you lucky girl! I love fresh apricots! They are so expensive in the grocery, though, and are available such a short time! No lover of bugs and spiders here, either! xo Nellie

    1. Nellie, I am to the point of not wanting to buy fresh fruit at the store...it seems to be lacking in flavor. So I may pick some of Mike's apricots to make some crisp or a small pie. That would be good with ice cream. . I think the bugs will be making us all crazy this year...from all the wetness. Hope you are having good weather. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  4. I'm not sure I've ever eaten a fresh apricot!!! I do love the taste though. We have clouds and distant thunder this afternoon. Your marigolds are so pretty. That is scary about the spider! Yikes!!!

    1. Mildred, I remember apricot cobbler in our grade school lunches. I have made it once with canned fruit...this is my first time having fresh too. I am saving my marigold flower heads when they dry...so I can use the seeds to plant more next spring. Hope you are keeping cool. xoxo,Susie

    1. Hi Susan, I think most women hate spiders and bugs. If a spider has a web and I know it's catching bugs...I leave it alone. But I don't like them hiding in the mailbox. I haven tasted those apricots yet...hope they are sweet. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  6. I still get a slight shiver when I hear the date for opening day of school and I haven't been to public school in 46 years. Hey! I'm old!
I'm going through a nectarine phase right now.
Hot and sticky here. The weekend looks good though. I'll be back with sports in a moment.

  7. Oh my goodness. So glad you saw before you stuck your hand in there. The apricots are lovely and so are the marigolds. Hope you get your wish this week. I love the puffy clouds, too.

  8. How special to have apricots living next door to you!! My brother had an apricot tree - and I picked apricots from it once - they were delicious! It died last year! :(
I'm sure there are so many nasty critters in the world I'm amazed we don't see more - but I am ever so thankful that most of them are shy and hide!!! Yuck!!

  9. I don't remember ever having a fresh apricot, they sure look pretty.
The skies are pretty and just the kind I love to see.
I don't like those pesky spiders, either. Ugh! They scare me!
    Have a nice day!
