Loving The Sunshine...

The black eyed susans and mums are blooming . I love my mums, but they need to be thinned.
Here's our little pond by the shop/garage.  I love watching birds drink here , and take baths.
The sun was out for the past few days and it's been so enjoyable. Low humidity makes a huge difference too.
Sunset yesterday was wonderful. So peaceful . Ted got a lot of things done that had been put off. Like tilling our old garden area and sowing grass there. We are never going to garden again. Maybe a bucket of tomato plants. My daughter Karen and her family have a big garden and they share.
School is starting around this area very soon....to me that has always seemed like the end of summer.  So I want to take in all this sunshine that I can. Hope you are planning a great weekend and that the sun shines for you. But if you need rain, I hope you get some.XO

  1. Hi Susie, Your flowers and pond are so pretty and I have always admired the view from your home. We recently purchased a bird bath and it is fun to watch the birds enjoy themselves. School starts in GA on Aug. 5. My sister's grands in IN start on Monday.
    Have a blessed day.

    1. Mildred, So glad you have a bird bath...it is good for the birds to drink from and have a bath. I think My grandkids that are still in school start the 5th also. I remember when we got out for the summer on Memorial Day and did not go back till after Labor Day. That was a nice long summer.:):) Hope your weekend is a great. xoxo,Susie

  2. Yes, summer is winding down. School starts here on August 10, a half-day. I may have spoken too strongly yesterday about the crop dusting. I will admit that I do have very strong opinions about pesticides! Honeybees are disappearing, and without them, we will find ourselves in a real predicament! Pesticides are not friendly to honeybees or any helpful insect!

    1. Nellie, My grands start on the 5th of August. I just can't get used to school starting so soon. Hey, I am totally with you on keeping our bees. Too many think of their profits over the good of the Earth. I never swat at bees if they are in the flowerbeds. I know they all love the sedum. I do not see bees on the clover in the ditches like when I was a kid. That is sad. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  3. There's one of your lovely sunsets, Susie. It seems that school starts earlier every year, doesn't it? Your black-eyed susans are so pretty. Planting a garden is a lot of work. Husband planted tomatoes and a few other veggies, and the tomatoes are just starting to get ripe.

Have a peaceful weekend, my dear.

    1. Sheri, If I had to go back to school in August, I would have cried. LOL. When we went to school, we got out for summer on Memorial Day and went back Labor Day. A nice long summertime for kids. Ted did a couple gardens...I told him I am flower gardener and much of one at that....so I was not going to be a pioneer, planting and canning...Gee zoo, I am too old to learn all that. I am ready to be waited on, know what I mean girl. Hope your weekend is a great fun filled one. Blessings to all your family, love you, Susie

  8. Oh, I love your flower bed with the Black-eyed Susans and the little pond for the birds. Low humidity is good. It's hard to believe that school will begin here very soon. I heard today that El Niño will continue here for us and there will be more of what we got last Spring. I'm hopeful that they are wrong.

    1. Nonie, I can live with low humidity.:):) I have enjoyed these past days. Plus no rain has helped some of this to dry up. But I see water standing in some fields. I am hoping the weather this fall and winter isn't wet. I think I will buy a farmers almanac...to check it out. LOL. I pulled weeds this afternoon with the mosquitoes all over me. My gosh I had spray on. LOL. I pulled a wheel barrel full...that's how bad it is here. I put it off too long. Blessings for a great fun weekend, xoxo,Susie

    1. BJ, I feel this is true. As a kid time seemed to drag by. Once I retired is when it grew wings. Each day that passes without seeing one of my children or grands, they seem changed, as if many days or weeks have passed. That is why we better hug them and love all we can. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

Sunshine here today very warm...had to turn on the AC. Kind of a lazy day. finished off another of my knitted washcloths, did my Sunday Sketch for the art co-op, and posted my face for the other one. Really enjoying getting back to my painting.
    Have a good weekend.

  11. I love your beautiful flowers and so glad you're getting pretty weather.. I love the low humidity days and that's why I love Fall the best. We had a low humidity day today with plenty of sun. I hung the clothesline full.. School doesn't start back here in N.C till around the 25th of August every year due to a state law.. They never get out till around the 10th of June. Graduations used to be around Memorial Day .. Hope your beautiful weather lasts and you have a nice weekend. hugs, xo

    1. Susie, I love the low humidity. But it's going to creep back up this coming week. I am so glad I pulled weeds yesterday. I wish I could have seen your laundry hanging out....that is a rare view in our town...but my neighbor lady uses her clothes line all summer long. I do not hang out clothes, no line and the same neighbor burns trash and you never know when she will....I do not want clothes to smell like that.LOL. xoxo,Susie

  12. you have a beautiful yard. I really got a late start this year....spring was a long time getting here. It's so nice to spend time outdoors when it's not so hot and muggy...hasn't been too bad here.

  13. I love black eyed susans. They grow in abundance and bloom again and again every year. It's been so hot and humid in Nashville. I was hoping for cooler weather moving from GA, but it's about the same. Looking forward to a real Fall here among the hills.

  15. Oh, I love the little pond! I've seen them at the Garden Shows. Is it recycling water? We had one inside that Rusty used to love to drink out of...lol We chose not to do a garden this year. Glad of it too. So glad you're having sunshine! Just makes a person feel like smiling!!

    Love your apple story!!

Blessings and hope you don't get our "heat".

    1. Gert, We had this p[ond a long time...then It got a crack in it and Ted lined it will a plastic...that worked, so the pond is still with us. Yes, there's a circulating pump in it and it also running the same water down the little cascade part. It used to be a spitting frog...now it's just a small hose with a frog sitting on it. LOL. When I walk to the mailbox, I close my eyes and lift my face to the sun and say "thank you God" Some times I even walk like that ...very slowly. LOL. I like the sun on my face. I'll be staying out of the heat when it warms up again this coming week. :):) BLessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. Hi Debby, The school around our area are starting the 5th of August. That seems earlier than last year. I love water features for the birds...plus it nice to hear the water bubbling when sitting out. If you keep a pump running and recycling the water, you won't get mosquitoes breeding in it. Oh yes, this warmth is so much better that the cold. I just want to soak it all up and enjoy something about each day. Hope you are loving your summer. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
p.s. I think of your sister and hope she is doing well.

    1. Hi Nancy, I have missed sitting on my porch. The bugs are so many there's not much peace in sitting out. But my fan will help, as bugs hate the wind. When I was a kid, I thought the hot days went on forever...of course I was babysitting all my siblings..not much fun in a summer like that. :):) As an older lady, my days, and even the years seem to go by so much quicker. But I try to fine some joy in each day. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  18. I have to say that I love the idea of a little pond and I love that sunset. I think those are my favorite pictures to take. I've been out of school for a long time but hearing about school starting still puts a small knot in my stomach.
Hot and nasty weather is making a comeback come next week. Yuck!
