This is the World War II memorial in Washington D.C. Remember each star represents one thousand fallen, there are 400 stars. Ted standing at the Indiana monument. Ted is named after his uncle Theodore, who died in Italy during that war. Theodore was just ninteen, his first time away from the farm he was raised on. Ted has some of his uncle's letters home, from when he arrived in Italy. He treasures them.
I am one whose family wasn't touched by either of the wars - WW II, Korean, Vietnam, Iraq, or Afghanistan.
ReplyDeleteYet, I am really aware of the sacrifices made by many for all of us!
God bless their families, and may we remember them daily!

All those war memorials take my breath away. Seeing the veterans there brings tears to my eyes. For anyone who has not been to D. C. they really need to see the memorials don't they Susie?
ReplyDeleteWonderful post, Susie. What a sacrifice Ted's family made. My thanks for all who gave so much to our country.
