I found this wooly worm yesterday. I think it's early don't you? Any way, I got little stick for him to crawl on. There was no way I would pick it up. I don't know when I went from , "Hey, look what I found, to don't let it get on me." LOL
The corn around here is starting to turn at the bottom. So Fall is so near. When corn turns brown and dries, I am amazed at how it stands on the skinny stalk .
We had rain all night and some lightening. It's raining today also. We have had 2 1/2 inches in two days. Hope we don't get the super downpours that some places have .
Enjoy this day...yippee, it's Friday. XO
Was he solid black? Old timers here talk about how hard the winter will be according to how much brown they have across their middle. I forget exactly how it goes! heehee! Enjoy your day my friend! Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteThat wooly worm was all black...I have hear our winter will be bad like last year. Rats !! . xoxo,Susie
DeleteI think when a wooly worm is all black it means.....uh oh....a bad winter. I hope not. Fall is definitely fast approaching. xo LAura
ReplyDeleteLaura, I was afraid of that. and seeing one so soon too. You sure can tell autumn is coming. I just hope our winter isn't hard on our country. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteSusie,
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool wooly worm. That would be so interesting to look at. I loved your picture of the corn and it brought back sweet memories. Me and the kids took a trip to Iowa, and on grandma's farm there were rows and rows of corn fields. It was such a sight! She made homemade goodies every day.
love,
~Sheri
When we aren't used to seeing certain crops or things such as huge dairy farms....it seems strange to look at them. I was amazed at pumpkins in California when I was there. Or tobacco when I was in the south. Sounds like good times at your grandma's house. xoxo,Susie
DeleteWe've seen no wooly worms around here yet. Was this one completely black? That would indicate a bad winter according to the weather lore around here. xo Nellie
ReplyDeleteSo far that is the only one I have seen...I an praying he's all confused....because he was entirely black. Blessings for a great weekend. We had plenty of rain the past two days. xoxo,Susie
DeleteWe only had a quarter of an inch, Susie. We are supposed to get some drizzle tonight into tomorrow. We haven't had all the rain that a lot of the surrounding areas have had. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteMissy, I am so thankful, that was got some rain , but not too much. Some areas in Indiana got up to 11 inches of rain over night. Flooding interstates and backing up traffic for miles. Yikes. We are to have rain on and off for a few more days...but Sunday/Monday is to be sunny and 90's. Crazy. Blessings to you and you pet pals, xoxo,Susie
DeleteI have never heard of nor seen a wooly worm. I guess we don't have them in the city. Do they like concrete and very little green grass?
ReplyDeleteKathy, That is a caterpillar. We call them Wooly worms when it's fall time. Folk lores say depending on the wooly colors tells what kind of winter we will have . I just have never seen one all black or this early. I think you could find them in the city also...like yards, shrubs, etc. Hope you are having a good weekend, xoxo,Susie
DeleteThe weather has been beautiful here but there is a touch of fall in the air.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a caterpillar but I suppose it's the wrong time of year for them to be around.
Boston Boy, We call them wooly worms when they are hairy. This is the earliest I have ever seen one and the 1st solid black on I have seen. Some people believe they can predict our winters. This one doesn't seem to be a good sign.Yikes. I may have to buy a new snow shovel. Blast. I am glad you are having good weather to enjoy. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteAh yes! I love dried corn stalks for Fall. Good to hear that it's getting ready! We've been having a lot of heat here and not that much rain. Hope things calm down in your area soon.
ReplyDeleteKelly, I like seeing bundles of stalks for autumn decorations. North of here, one area had 11 inches of rain in a short time span...causing flooding. I am so very thankful we did not get that. Hope you are having a great weekend, xoxo,Susie
