I swear it feels like Fall here today. The rose my daughter entrusted to me had 3 blooms this year. Plus I sprayed it a few times and things still snacked on it. This is the wild carrot , behind the rose..it's Queen Anne's lace.
At least the red petunias on the porch did well. The hummingbirds buzz them about every day. The mums are blooming very fast. I sure need to thin them out .
Went to my sister Jeanie's today and had a good visit with sisters Jeanie , Brenda , and Pam. We sat outside, because it's is cooler . We watched the squirrels and butterflies. I am trying to enjoy every bit of wonderful summer . All to soon it will be gone. With school already started, it sure seems summer is going .
Wishing everyone a great Saturday. XO
Sounds familiar...some of the trees are already dropping their leaves😟 Glad you're able to get outside and enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteGert, Our tulip poplars are dropping leaves. Our hickory never got but a handful of nuts on it and we can see sky through the cnapy....and we have never been able to do that before this year. 2-3 years of draught and this past supper cold winter has taken it's toll on many plants and trees. I just came in from sitting out and writing letters. It was fun till the flying things found me. LOL. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
Deletebeautiful spot you have for your flowers!!
ReplyDeleteHi Laurie. I have a big flower bed across the front of our house . It's getting too crowded. :) I am loving our summer and want to make it last. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteLove Queen Anne's Lace. I wish I could grow flowers. I was going to buy some today but decided not to waste my money. Our ground is so packed that it would take a tractor to till it.
ReplyDeleteYou know I was thinking of getting more flowers and thought it seems like we may have an early fall. So I decided to not spend the money. We are needing rain at this time. xoxo,Susie
DeleteYour garden is so pretty. I love fall, but I want a little more summer before it shows up.
ReplyDeleteOh Kathy, me too. I want to cling to this good summer....I am afraid we are in for the same kind of weather this winter that we had last winter. Oh Bummer.xoxo,Susie
DeleteSomething has chewed on my David Austin rose, too! We do not use any spray of any kind on anything, though.
ReplyDeleteThere have been a couple of sightings of a lone hummingbird here this season. It is usually rare to see one. How great that you had a chance to spend time with your sisters! xo Nellie
Nellie, I know there are natural bug sprays you can make yourself. I need to find a book on that stuff. I used to see a guy names Jerry Baker who would make up things that are safe to use. I used the good old garden hose and mist lots of water most times. But I do have a spray against Japanese beetles. Today our hummingbirds have been fighting for the feeder.xoxo,Susie
DeleteVery pretty flowers, Susie. Glad you and your sisters had a nice visit and enjoyed the weather. It was weird to see a school bus on our street this week. Have a good night.
ReplyDeleteI really don't know what is up with me. It just seems that my summer is going by so very fast. The schools seem to be starting earlier too. Plus our catholic school closed this year and that just breaks my heart. My old grade school has been turned into a church...that is good. I would love to see that school maybe become a pre-school. Just sad to see some changes. xoxo,Susie
