Emma's Chickens...

This first photo has nothing to do with chickens. LOL. It's just one of my favorite trees. It's at our city park. The little yellow green tree is a maple  and it is next to a flowering crabapple.  I just wanted to share it.
This is Emma's  chicken coop area. Her chicken are finally laying eggs.  I have yet to get a photo of her with the eggs.  Liz (Emma's mom) says the eggs are very small at this time.
Not all the chickens have made it to maturity. Sam the dog has loved some of them to death.  Liz says he pets them with his big paws.   Emma is happy about her chickens.
Emma  got a new pool this summer and that has made her pretty happy also. I like that , so she can get some exercise. She doesn't get to ride her bike much. They live on a 1/2 mile road....with  a lot of traffic.  It's sad that country roads aren't wider.  If I can get a photo of Emma with the eggs, I will post it.
Hope everyone has a great Sunday. It rained here, on and off ,yesterday morning and stayed cloudy. Today is to be more of the same.  XO

  1. Good Morning, That is exciting about the eggs. I loved riding my bike as a kid. I was blessed to have a nice sidewalk in front of our house that made it safe to ride. Hope you enjoy the day and thanks for sharing that colorful tree at the park.

    1. Bee, When I used to go to the state fair, I always wanted to see the horses, chickens and the art work. I never new chicken could be so pretty and fancy till I saw those at the fair. I could almost see your grandma feeding the chickens like that. I remember seeing cousins throw the feed about on the ground. LOL. xoxo,Susie

  3. My neighbor has chickens and I have bought eggs from them! My dogs would also "love them to death", so no chickens for us.

    1. That's nice that you can get eggs from the neighbor. My daughter says the cats never bother the chickens , but Sam is too mischievous. xoxo,Susie

  5. Reminds me of when I was young and would visit my Aunt that lived on a farm. She had so many chickens running around and sometimes I would help her gather the eggs. Emma will love gathering eggs and tending to her chickens.

    1. Sylvia, Emma started with 12 chicks and now has 4 chickens. That's not good results. I don't know what they could do to keep the dog from getting them. Also two might have been eaten by other critters. xoxo,Susie

    1. Jeanie, I will visit again. I like chickens also. But I would not want to live by a big chicken farm...the smell is too much. Hope you had a great day. xoxo,Susie

  7. I love seeing Emma's chickens. What a great thing for a kid to do. Hope she gets more eggs as they mature and the dog stays away from them.

We aren't supposed to have chickens or roosters in the city, but some people do. My co-worker is woken every morning by a rooster who crows about 4 a.m.

  8. Kathy, I know the are rules about farm animals in the city. I think people would like to have fresh eggs of their own. We may get to a point where more and more people will be having gardens and chickens. I like that this is a bit of a learning experience for Emma too. Blessings for a great week, xoxo,Susie

    1. When I see that my grandkids are willing to learn something, it just makes me smile. I just found out that Skylar is taking wielding in high school. I laughed thinking his parents will come home and he'll have roll bars on the family van. LOL....that's just how we would laugh about things. He loves when we do that. That boy is so mechanically inclined. xoxo,Susie

    1. I know we have eaten fresh from the farm eggs. When we were young you could go to the store to buy eggs and they weren't always in the cold food keeper.Scary huh? My SIL swears that fresh like that is the way to go....that is why he got chickens for Emma to raise. xoxo,Susie

  12. aww, dont you just love chickens? my neighbors have some and occasionally they make their way over to our yard. I love to see them out there doing their chicken thing! lol! though theyve not been here in quite a while. I wouldnt mind raising some.. but Id probably get tired of taking care of them and what ever do you do with them in the winter? I guess I will just enjoy the ones that everyone else has! lol!
    have a great week

    1. Viv, you sound like me there. I think there's a thing called heat lamps that you can put in the coops. But I feel I am too old to fuss with chickens but I do love to see them walking around in yards. I asked a lady who raises them why they did just run away...she said they know where the food is. LOL. xoxo,Susie

  13. Emma must love her chickens, Susie. And a new pool, wow! I really miss my pool at our old house. She is going to enjoy swimming in the clear blue water on warm summer days. I'd love to see a picture of her with her chickens.
