Is Summer Over???

Look at my mums. They are so thick and blooming. Even the bird nest shrub is much larger than it's ever been.
This mum is getting squeezed by the shrub.  I am scared of spiders, so I have not had the nerve to trim anything back yet.
This is our back yard. See the dry brown leaves , they have fallen from the tulip poplar.  It's as if Fall is here , or very close.  I am not so ready to rake leaves.  Today is to be in the 60's.
Emma, Savannah, and Skylar went to school today. They all go to the same school.  The high school, middle school and elementary are all in the same area. This will be our last year for grandparents day. It will be with Emma. Once the children reach 6th grade, they no long have a day for their grandparents to come visit. It feels sad to think about not seeing their class rooms and teachers, and some of their activities , of everyday school life. Watch for the children at the bus stops. XO

  1. It would be nice if they had this whole month to enjoy in their summer break but school starts all over. Enjoy your day my friend! Hugs!

    1. My daughter sent some text photos of Emma ready for her first day of school this year. So sad. I love when we went to school and we got out on Memorial Day and went back after Labor Day. Sure is different. Hope your day is relaxing. xoxo,Susie

  3. We are having hot weather here so it seems strange to think that you have mums and leaves falling. I hope that doesn't mean a long cold winter.

The kids here don't go back to school until the week after Labor Day. And they go to school until the end of June. How different things are in other places of the country. It is sad to see them growing up, though, isn't it.

    1. Kathy, The paper carrier told my neighbor that the almanac says the next two winters are to be like last winter. Oh I am not sure I can stand that. Let's hope not. xoxo,Susie

    1. It's hard to think of kids in school when the pool is open and they should be riding bikes , swimming , and running around. Today sure seems like fall around here. Tomorrow is to get hot again. LOL. Crazy huh? xoxo,Susie

  5. 100+ here in Texas so I envy your 60 degree day! Even so I heard my first sound of fall.....the falling of a pecan on the deck! The locust is my first sound of summer but the pecans are so FALL!!! My neighbor says that when she is in bed and hears them falling on her roof she knows the season is changing! I have also seen some yellow leaves floating down. LOVE love LOVE fall!!!!

    1. Oh no I could never go for those hot days like that. I laughed about the pecan. I can remember hearing acorns fall on my daughters house. I am just afraid we will have the same early and long winter we had last year. I like fall too. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  6. I can't believe your kids started school already, Susie! It's still summer! Well, it doesn't actually feel like summer today. Only about 60 degrees...but it's just the middle of August!! Yikes. I'm not ready for it to be over!!
I'm sorry life is going by so fast for you. It is for me too, sweet friend.

    1. Debbie, I think what makes me life fly by is the fact that I only have 3 g.kids in school and two taking college classes. All my babies are growing up. I miss the old days when I could go to their ball games or special events at school. Blessings to you and your family. xoxo,Susie

    1. Oh Ann, I am just not ready to let go of summer. I honestly think we could have raked the back yard today. Lots of our trees have lost leaves because of whatever happened to them during 2 draught years and this past cold winter. It's been rough on our plants and such. Blessings for a great rest of the week.:) xoxo,Susie
