Sweet Rain.....
Yesterday after I posted "no rain" , in the afternoon , a storm came through. We had about 2 inches of rain. It got scary for a while, high winds and hail. Thankfully, no damage here. Then at 4:00 this morning another storm brought us 1/4 inch of rain. I know the farmers are doing a happy dance today. I am pretty happy myself. Maybe the temperature won't be as high as the past two days. We hit 103 and 102 , here in central Indiana. xo

No Rain.....
This is how bad our lawn looks. Sad isn't it? You may see a bit of green around the trees. We do water our flowers, plants and young trees. We have some tomatoes starting to grow on our one plant.:):) It's looking good. I wish we could get at least an inch of rain. I know I should not worry about a brown dead lawn, when many are losing everything in the wild fires. I truly pray for all of them. So I will look at my lawn as a blessing. We are in for another hot day, here in Indiana. Be safe. xo

Rooster.....
While watering the plants this morning, I could hear the neighbor's rooster. They live a 1/2 mile away, but it's clear. This is my only chicken outside:):) I would love to have some chickens....but let's face it, I am a city person. I don't know a darn thing about raising chickens :):) So that will remain a dream. They don't smell so good anyways when they are wet ....LOL I 'll just sit out front and enjoy the neighbor's rooster crowing.
Stay cool today good people.xo

Hollyhocks....
Here are my hollyhocks. I am hoping they will grow taller. I have planted them beside a guide wire and utility pole that is in the front flower bed. I am also hoping they will grow back next year. I did have some from last year, growing....they just are not real tall. Of course this very hot dry weather may have a lot to do with that. Hollyhocks make me think of simpler times , I don't know why. Please everyone take care in this extreme heat. xo

Old Store....
This store , I think it's a store or some kind, is in West Middleton. That's a bump in the road type of town. It sits right on the road- almost. I am going back there one of these days soon and check it out. It looks like the perfect antique shop. I'll post if I find out more. Just makes me think of the old western days.
We are in for some mighty hot days at the end of this week. Please people take care in the heat. xo

Kittens.....
My daughter's cat had kittens. They are growing fast. I found them on a skateboard and could not resist taking a photo or two. There are 4 grey striped and 2 Siamese, all in one litter, but not in this picture. Once the 1st flash went off, they looked up in the second shot. Too cute. :):):) They all have blue eyes. xo

More Photos Of Amish Flea......
Here is the entrance to the flea market. I want to tell you a few things about the trip on Tuesday. When you start into the Amish area, you will see some of the best tended gardens Every house has a garden, some are very big gardens, some families have two gardens.....not a weed in sight. They are very good gardeners. I think the women and children help with it all. Many years ago, I read in the paper an article written by an Amish lady. She told of a day in her life ......now I am not kidding, she did more in one day than most people do in a week. Busy ladies. When we were driving their roads, we saw every kind of cart being pulled by one little horse. We try to respect the horse and carriages, because it gets scary if the horse is spooked in any way. You may even see the driver out holding the reins and calming the horse down.
My brother was a state trooper up north in Indiana. He said some times the Amish would be drunk, and they just let the horse take itself on home ....so in other words the horse is driving. But even though they know the way home, they run stop signs, that is how the Amish man gets caught drinking. LOL...I think my brother was joking, don't you???? xoxo

More Flowers At The Flea Market...
Someone truly has a way with petunias in Shipshewana.:):):)This booth is beautiful with all the baskets. I wish I had bought all my flowers from here. Sweet. I would love a big flowerbed full of these. xo

Shipshewana....
This is the beautiful flowers in front of the Blue Gate restaurant in the town of Shipshewana, Indiana. It is an Amish town..The Amish are know for their cooking, crafting and building. I have to honestly say, our food here was nothing to brag about. It appeared to be made some elsewhere and brought in to serve. Amish fast food, is what I called it. Plus a screaming child all through our lunch, didn't help. Why???:(:(
The flea market was a lot and I do mean lot of imports from China.....so sad. I did buy up a couple little things from a young man 's booth, looked like his grandma's knick-knacks. We did make it to the big antique barn across the road from the flea market. That was fun to see. I didn't buy anything there. I will be going to Nappanee, next trip for a taste of Amish cooking. Or just into the stores in Shipshewana. But no more flea market for me. Oh I almost forgot...it was so darn hot out in the open. If you should go , take one of those spritzer fans with you. :):)

A Smelling Matter....
I took this photo from inside the house :):):) At first glance I thought it was one of the neighbor's white cats. It was a big old stinky skunk !! He must have been eating the birdseed under the feeders. He ate around a bit , then he wandered into the pen that the neighbor's hold the goats in. One goat cornered the skunk, but froze in his tracks and the skunk lumbered off. My thanks for that. Notice the pieces of lattice...that is to keep the goats from sticking their heads through that poor fence and eating my flowers. They have that whole field of grass, but prefer my flowers. Rats. :):)

Old Corner Stone...
Here's the old corner stone from Tipton high school. Well it was Tipton jr./sr. high. We've had a new school for decades now. But I didn't know they had kept the old corner stone from years ago. I went with my sisters to the senior apartments office, that are on the old school grounds....and there sat the old stone. I didn't even know it was in the senior courtyard there. My sister Brenda is looking for an apartment. There are some nice apartments at this place. Not big room by any means, but as we age, we truly need less. Our problems arise from not wanting to rid ourselves of our "stuff". I am as guilty of this as anyone. I can not believe how much "stuff" I had when I moved to this farm. I got rid of tons of "stuff". My daughter's prom dresses, bride's maid dresses, there old games, toys, books, oh my you can just imagine. The important things...such as old grade cards( LOL) , I gave to my daughters to keep or get rid of. I never throw out books...so I always have to find them homes. I recycle things all the time. Hope all of you are enjoying this pretty day. xoxo

I Had Two Fathers....
I did have two fathers....you can call me lucky or not. My father was an abusive alcoholic. I know he worked hard, he was a carpenter. He beat our mother and all us kids. I know now it was because of his drinking. But I never stopped loving my father ever. Then mommy married my step father. Oh the fights they had were so embarrassing and scary .They drank too much .They both settled down, as they got older. My step father respected us kids, cause mom make us respect him. He was very good to all of us. We loved him .I miss all my parents....I try to remember the good stuff. xoxo

No Octopus .....
I was so excited to use nana Diana's recipe for Emma's lunch. After she carries it to the table , she says" I don't like hot-dogs(octopus)". Well for goodness sake, there went that lunch. I really do not like to fix meals for my grandkids...picky eaters. There mommies sure were not. So Emma ate the mac/cheese and a salad. Then had strawberry yogurt for dessert.... I guess as long as she eats while she is here. You know anything besides peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Today she has chopped steak(hambuger shhh). So funny just re-naming things so they will eat. :):) But we have been busy painting birdhouses today. I am ready for a nice cappachino and piece of cake. LOL Hope you are enjoying your day. xo

Emma's Fairy Garden....
Well we finally made the little garden that Emma has been wanting. Now she says " I wish I could take it home, but Sam (the dog) would tear it up. We painted the A frame roof. Emma painted the sign. We both painted rocks all colors to make the garden bright. It's all in a broken old pot, but it looks nice. Emma is off swimming with her aunt Angie for a couple hours. I need this break.LOL.

Old School Desk....
Here's a before and after , of the old desk I bought. I got this desk from the fellow down the road. It's from the old school, that my siblings and I attended, well even our children went there. I wish I could take credit for this make over...but it's all new due to Ted Bear's woodworking. The maple wood of the desk was kind of beat up, so Ted replaced it with walnut. I think Ted did a fantastic job on it. Emma will be using it this weekend. She could probably use it a couple more years. xo

Walking ......
Went for a walk today with two of my sisters. We walked in the park. There is a walking path along the creek. It will take you to the 4-H fairgrounds. There's a bench to sit and look toward the golf course . We saw so many birds there and just sat ,to listen to them. So peaceful. It was a fun , enjoyable day. Hope your day is great. xo

Yesterday....
Here are a couple pics from yesterday. Too much sun in our faces, it appears .LOL :):) shh, don't tell that I posted these. My girls say I never signal when I snapping the photo.....they could be right. It was a fun day, no matter how our hair-dos looked, or if we were ready or not. I will get to see Korey again at Christmas. I will go over to Angie's this Friday with Emma Pooh.. Then next Tuesday , Kathy , Ted Bear, and I are going to Shipshawana. That's the Amish town up north in Indiana. They have craft shops, antiques, and a flea market that's hugh. That will be a fun time. Another beautiful day here...but we need rain really. xoxo

This Is An Extra Post...
I am posting again today, just to see if I can get it to go through the right steps. So far it's working okay. I just had the best visit with my grandson and daughter. He is all excited about his thesis. His enthusiasm is so good to see. I know my daughter can be proud of this young man she has raised. He is going to be going to a Cincinnati Reds game with his Dad tomorrow. He's excited about that also. He's a fine young man. xo
Once More ,Blogger Problems....
I have to try the craziest way to make a new post at times. Today my daughter and g.son will be here . They can help...I hope...I am also going to ask them about the new cameras, canon rebel... I would love a new camera, but I want to be able to download my photos once I take them... To all you nice people out there, have a good day.:):)

Shuffleboard Anyone....
We have some shuffleboard courts at the park. I have not seen anyone playing it for a few years now. There's a small shed near by that holds all the gear for playing. I did not look to see if it was open. Years ago, it would never be locked and anyone could get the equipment out. Everyone who played put the stuff back in the shed and never would anyone think of abusing it. We have dealt with vandals in our park for a few years. There may be cameras placed here soon to deter that problem. I can only remember playing shuffleboard at church camp.I thought it was great fun. Now I am sitting here wondering if my g.kids would even know what shuffleboard is. :):):) Enjoy this June day. It's wonderful here this morning.

Junk Redo...
This is a little utensil holder ,I picked up junking . I didn't care for the little painting, although it was nice. So I did a new paint job, and added some fake flowers. I may use the holder when I have another Sister Day Luncheon. Hope all of you have a wonderful Friday. It's beautiful weather here today.:):)

My Junk.....
These are a few things I picked up for Emm'as fairy garden. She's going to love them. I hope she does.
Here are three bowls that reminded me of my m-i-l. Many years ago, she had these exact bowls. My m-i-l was the best cook ever. She had to teach me to cook....I sure didn't know how when I got married. I remember her favorite recipes. German chocolate cake, Oyster dressing, creamed peas with pearl onions. things I had never eaten in my life, growing up poor.....it was beans, potatoes, and corn bread. :):) I can barely eat those foods since growing up. I will sure never eat rabbits or squirrels again. YUCK.Dad used to hunt and fish to help feed us. One sure way to feed kids, is just don't have so dang many kids. That's how I would think about my parents growing up.:):):) I just had to get over the dream that my real parents were coming for me.LOL

Nice Long Walk.....
I was intending to go to the park yesterday. I did visit with my daughter and son-in-law. She made us some lunch, then we went walking. Since they are living in a different neighborhood , we walked around looking at landscaping. Saw some ideas for Angie's and Mark's new home when it's built. Then we went back to Angie's to look at pictures she had taken on her short trip to Florida. It was a fun day , relaxing. Then I returned home and filled the bird baths and feeders. Hope all of you had a good weekend. xo

Going To The Park....
Today I am going to the park, after I visit my daughter. I just need to sit in the park and meditate. I may go to the cemetery also. This morning very early Ted and his buddies went on a short golf trip. Love that man, but he's been so excited about this trip, he's made me half crazy. LOL Doesn't take much these days. I have a few things in the works for this coming week. A day with two of my sisters, who also love to junk. A Friday lunch date with one sister and the lady down the road from me. I will post any good junk photos:):)
I hope all of you have a great day and fun week. xo

Doctor's Office.....
This is my doctor's office. It's an old home restored for dr.Mary. It still has much of it's original woodwork. Lots of oak panaling on the stairway. You know the kind of baseboards that would be in this type of house. Tall baseboards , about 7 inches, with all the added pieces. There's 3 examining rooms, an office for her staff, plus a waiting room, that would have been the foyer/hall. I do not know what is upstairs here. As it is never used by the public. Plus some rooms for files and utensils(doctor doo-dads):):) I need to go for a yearly check up soon. Take care of yourselves , everyone. Health is so important. Enjoy your weekend. Ours is going to be rather cool.
