Cleaning The Yard....

Here's our trailer full of yard debris .. We never really got a chance to clean the yard since November. So there were plenty of branches, twigs, dried leaves. We cut the flowers back. I usually do that in late winter, but never got the chance.
Ted decided to cut this fir tree down. He said he hates how big it got , at the corner of the garage. This is half way through his chopping. The inside was all brown and dead looking anyways.
All through the yard you will see this little piles. Ted calls them little beaver dams. This is how I clean up the yard. Rake everything into to small manageable piles.
Wow, can't begin to tell you how much my arms and feet hurt. Taking care of your home and property is a big job. Ted will sleep like a baby tonight. LOL.  It was nice out, but nothing like yesterday.  Hope your day was good. xo

  1. You are way ahead of me, Susie. That is looking like a good job well done. I do that, too....make the small piles that I can handle...It saves work if you ask me. You have such lovely property! xo Diana

    1. Diana, I know what you are saying...I was almost ashamed of how things were loking here..but with the early and long winter, there was no breaks to work in the yard. I told Ted when we were done...oh boy do we need some flowers. LOL. xo, Susie

  2. That's a LOT of work, but it always feels so good when you're finished and the yard looks all neat & tidy. It would be my back that was sore after doing that work - things we never thought about when we were young, huh?!

    1. Beth, Make yourself some container gardens. Even a fairy garden would be better than none. You can grow a tomato in a bucket. I know that one day, i'll be living in a home...oh course now I joke and call it my vacation/hotel/room serve future. It will be sad for me then. Blessings, hope it's nice there. xoxo,Susie

  4. Susie,
You both did a lot of work. The yard is looking so great. The fresh air these last few days has felt so great. We did some yard work too. Let's hope we see Spring now.

  5. Yard cleaning is a lot of fun, but it is nice when afterwords we don't cook and just grab a burger or something.

  6. Spring clean up is always a big job. This year we cleaned up tree droppings several times during the winter so there wouldn't be so much now.

  8. Good Sunday Evening, Susie. Yard work really gives our muscles a work out. All the bending to pick up debris etc is hard. Hope you both can rest well tonight and wake feeling better.
I don't think I have told you that we will be moving in the next month or so. I will be away from the blog but will be checking in with you. God bless,

    1. Usually we don't have this much to do...but we never got to do anything since November, because of the snow and cold. It's looking better.xo,Susie

  11. There's alwasy so MUCH to do to just keep up with everything! We were much the same way - never got out there to clean up in the fall so it seems we have had so MUCH to do this spring!! However, I find there is therapy in the work and I try to remember it's a good thing to do physical labor. Louis Dean and I both agree we work hard and get tired but then we rest well and wouldn't it be sad to wake up in the mornings and have NOTHING to do for our days? Or to wake up in the mornings UNABLE to do things?
I get a kick out of your 'debris!' It really IS debris!!!

    1. Linda, I love when Ted and I work together. I always say, many hands make light work. I do the things around here to get a good workout physically. Plus you can take pride in the work you've done. xoxo,Susie

  12. I know it's a lot of clean up by you'll really be able to enjoy your lawn this Spring. And the older you get....the more it hurts to do anything out of the ordinary. Just a warning from someone oldER! hahaha!

  13. I never cut anything down in the fall. If you leave it up, it provides protection for little critters and birds, and winter interest when the frost and snow sticks to it. We've had enough winter interest this year don't you think??!!!

    1. Oh yes, Cindy. We do leave our flowers for the birds to find seeds too. But usually in the late winter, we get a break and I can cut them back...not this year, as you know. Aren't you ready for flower in your yard.:):) xoxo,Susie

  14. Joe is unable to work in the yard and I am getting to that point myself. We have a gardener to do the work for us. But because of all the snow our yard is looking bad too. It will get done though.
