YUCK.... this is the water in our basement. The piggy backed pumps were both running. This was like a flash flood. We went to town for lunch, gone an hour or so, came home to this.
We put our submersible pump with the other two and that took the water out fast. So I will be spraying down the floors and running some fans. I'll spray with a bleach mixture. This is part of our yard in front that is low...the neighbor's whole front yard seems to be low. This is one more reason , I want to move back to town.
Hope you are not having to deal with flooding. Or snow, good grief. Praying for the storm victims. Tomorrow will be better hopefully. xo
What a mess, Susie. I'm just glad to see you don't have any carpeting down!
ReplyDeleteHang in there, my friend.
Kimberly, There will never be carpeting down there...too basic a basement. xoxo,Susie
DeleteYuck, is right! Flooding is no fun! XO
ReplyDeleteI am so thankful it's not a flood in our living quarters. Just the basic bare cement floors...but I clean to not have damp smells. xoxo,Susie
Deleteyuck for sure, that is so sad!
ReplyDeleteLauire, It can be just added stress...even though nothing gets wet but the floor and the stool legs. LOL. xo, Susie
DeleteOh sweetie I am so sorry! What a mess to have to deal with. So much work!
ReplyDeleteI loved the Birthday tribute to your sister. It was so nice to read about your endearing friendship.
sending hugs...
June, When we moved here...we actually had things built up on blocks of about 4 inches...just in case. I am oh so glad we did. Nothing get ruined, just as you sadi ..work, to clean up , so there is not damp smells. Hope you are having a nice Spring...Hugs to your son. xoxo,Susie
DeleteOh Susie..That's no fun..Back in the 60's I had a basement that flooded..Not fun...Hope this is the end of it for you..
ReplyDeleteMissy, Our basement is strictly utilitarian...Nothing fancy, storage and the laundry...But I still hate all the extra work from high waters. This has happened 3 times in 10years. I am hoping we all can have some pleasant Spring weather. xoxo,Susie
DeleteGood Golly Miss Molly! That's a mess to come home too. The way you've sprung into action I can tell that you've done it before. UGH!...You mentioned planting Mint (when you visited my blog), just be sure you plant it in a pot, rather than the ground. You probably already knew that but I wanted you to know, just in case, as it takes over flower beds and is hard to get rid of when you want to.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much on the hint about mint...no I did not know it could be invasive.. I just heard it was good to scare bugs away.:):) xoxo, Susie
DeleteSo sorry Sweet Susie. I'll say a prayer for you and the others. How awful. You deserve some warm weather without rain. xo
ReplyDeleteOh thank you Debby...prayer is good. Believe me girl , I have prayed also. LOL We need a normal Spring.xoxo, Susie
DeleteThe rain has stopped here Susie and it is just cold and windy!
ReplyDeleteBeth, We had a bit more rain around 3-4 this morning. But it didn't come down in buckets like yesterday.Thankful to God. Yes, brr, it awful chilly right now. Gert called it Sprinter(spring/winter)LOL. Hope our weekend is way better girl. xoxo,Susie
DeleteOh no! What a mess and it must have came on fast. Hope you have a better weekend my friend. It does seem like it's always something! Sending you some extra hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteThe weatherman had warned of flash floods...we knew the pumps were running and thought it wuld be fine...but it was just too much. It's all dried up now.:) Hope you have a beautiful weekend. xoxo,Susie
DeleteIt seems like we can't get a break from bad weather either a blizzard or a flood or torandos
ReplyDeleteHigh winds also cleaned out dead branches in all my big oak trees
I have dealt with a leaky basement for years and had it fixed 3 times always leaks in a different place
I am beginning to wonder when we will have decent weather again. We lose branches, cones, needles from all our trees. LOL. Blessings for a nice weekend. xoxo,Susie
DeleteIt's a good thing you weren't gone for very long, Susie!! I'm glad you were able to get things cleaned up right away.
ReplyDeleteHope your weekend goes better.
xo
Debbie, Things like this is the very reason, I will not go to Florida for the winter...you almost need someone staying in your home while you are away. Hope you have a beautiful weekend filled with something fun. xoxo,Susie
DeleteGoodness that looks terrible! I'm so sorry to hear that you've had to deal with this. Thank goodness for those pumps though!
ReplyDeleteI would not want to be without the submersible one, even with the two piggy backed pumps in the pit. Thanks for visiting Kelly. Blessings , Susie
DeleteOH my goodness, I pray it dries up there. Water damage is so miserable, and hard to recover from. And yes! Tomorrow will be a better day!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Gert
It's dry this Saturday morning and cleaned up. It's a rare thing but oh I hate it. xo,Susie
DeleteOMGosh, Susie. I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this. What a mess! I have only ever had water in our basement a couple of times in some of our other houses and it was always a huge mess!!! Hope you have a decent weekend- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThank good ness this is a rare thing...or you know I would be bald from tearing my hair out. xoxo,Susie
DeleteI'm so sorry you had to come home to find this mess...I hate surprises like that and water in the basement is one of my all time 'deal breakers.' Hope your weekend gets better and maybe a little sunshine will find it's way to you.
ReplyDeleteWhen we moved here, I did ask about flooding in the basement, I even asked the inspectors about that....all answer were , they had never had floods. I would never even want a basement had I known this would happen. But it's all dry and clean today. :) xoxo,Susie
